Bonus Pepper bum along with the Bog bum 😁

She's sooooo happy here she has the best life EVER. No more cold showers after a muddy walk at the yard. She's quite an unusual dog for here so she gets attention literally everywhere she goes. Last weekend I had a long boozy lunch with a friend all afternoon by the river, she had about 10 different groups of people going down there to throw stuff for her. I think a crazy keen retriever is a bit of an oddity here, and she's so intense with it that people find her super fun to engage with.

I'm currently house sitting this weekend for Beau's owners, looking at their horses out of my window in the mountains. Boggle is five mins away. It's dreamy!

I couldn’t resist a quick canter in the arena before heading out on the trail. The last time I rode him was galloping through the finish XC out eventing in early June 🥰

Cool pic of Pepper too!

So unbelievably good to be back on board. Just did a 15 min trail ride and he felt completely himself.

Just caught up in the Chronicles of Boggle, and my heart is so happy for you both seeing your last update (and for Pepper looking like she's living her best life too!)

My goodness! He has certainly made a remarkable recovery. I can’t believe after being so poorly that he has recovered so quickly with no lasting damage. You must be absolutely over the moon! What an incredible pony, he is worth his weight in gold… almost literally 😂

Thank you everyone. Not sure if I'm really unlucky that this happened or really lucky that I get to ever ride him again.

Bit of both, I guess? :D I think I am still in a bit of a weird state of disbelief about it sometimes, especially looking at him now.. I can still see what happened in his physique but it's hard to believe I was ever staring at a wall for a week thinking my horse was going to die, and that he was so so sick.

There are loads of bugs around in the UK at the moment and probably all over, could he just have picked up something entirely different? it can take a long time to recover from some infections maybe you and Bog are just having an ‘off day’ and things will be better tomorrow?

I dunno it seems too coincidental just when he’s been weaned off the antibiotics. Checking his temp and if it’s high he’s going straight back to hospital. I left the barn so they are doing it now.

Damn 😞

Temp normal but I’m really not happy he’s started coughing when weaned off them. Vet is going to call me back shortly.

I spoke to soon and got too complacent, honestly just cannot even cope with the idea we can’t fix him.

Did you put him in any supplement for respiratory support? Do you use a nebulizer? Could be something that's easy to manage and nothing soo bad. Just irritation of sorts.

Oh chin up Michen, l’m sure it can be sorted. You’ve come so far in a relatively short space of time. Quite often it’s the last little bit that seems the worst and pulls you down, just because all of a sudden life chucks some lemons at you. Notsure what time it will be with you but maybe time for a small or large beverage to keep you going.

No but the point is he wasn’t coughing then we stopped the antibiotics now he is. Which was one of the vague warnings, that the bacteria could regroup and multiply and come back. It’s why they didn’t want to go straight to the stronger one even when we finally got a culture because he was responding to the less specific one, so we had somewhere else to go 😞

Ignore me I’m just a miserable cowbag and very disappointed. I’ll perk back up tomorrow.. just got carried away because he was doing so well and it’s worrying to hear that horrible hacking cough that he had in hospital again.
