Sorry I am not sure exactly what he meant. I assumed just that lozenge but perhaps they all have a similar action. He showed me how the nobbly bit on one side presses hard when the bit twists in the mouth.

I understood it as that as well, a bit like the difference between French link and Dr Bristol action possibly but I also took that any lozenge, however angled will add some pressure to some area and it depends if that suits your horse's mouth conformation. The double joint will get rid of some of the nutcracker action of a single joint but the lozenge will add something else to the equation. Mine so far is happiest in a French link but has disliked all the lozenge bits that I've tried so possibly it's the added bulk of the lozenge v French link. Hope my rambling thoughts make sense!

When I got my loan horse she was ridden in a Pelham and a grackle , the Pelham had a very thick mouthpiece and she didn’t seem comfortable to me. I tried loads of different snaffles and the one she went best in and seemed most happy in was a dr Bristol eggbutt so I rode her in that, just with a cavesson noseband. After I had to give her up I continued to ride her at her owners for a while and they had her in a French link and grackle and she was horrible in it but I couldn’t say anything, but it wasn’t pleasant to ride her in that.
