Interesting post on Facebook today. Give away a horse as soon as it is injured (not even doing ANY rehab work), the next person also giving the horse away and then both people being really sad it is now being flogged online with no disclosure. You can't wash your hands of a horse and then be sad it didn't end well 🤷‍♀️

*** URGENT *** it has been bought to my attention that the 6yo KWPN gelding horse I rehomed with a torn DDFT sustained in March 2024 which required potentially 6-8 months box rest/small paddock area. CONFIRMED BY MRI. Is now on the market for 6k. His name is XXX and the most lovely lad. The vet advised me he may only ever become a companion/light hack following his rest period due to injury but a chance he could return to full work). If XXX has made a miraculous recovery in a 2 month period then I am very pleased for him as he is a sweet lad. The reason for this post is I feel very uneasy having this knowledge and keeping quiet on it. This post has been set to public. Hope XXX finds his forever home with full transparency.

Saw this on dodgy dealers, do you know who has the horse now or where it is being advertised, I'm trying to buy a horse atm and keeping abreast of who to avoid is a nightmare. Shame on the original owner for passing on this horse with a serious injury.

The sheer cheek of it. Getting rid of a horse with a serious injury, and then being faux concerned about it is just outright hypocrisy. What did you expect to happen? If the original owner had been that concerned about the horses welfare, and they couldn't or wouldn't attempt rehab, they should have had it put down.

I’m having trouble holding my peace on that post. The comments are frequently along the lines of ‘oh poor you, tried to do the right thing, and you, the second person who passed this injured horse on in moments, trying to do the right thing also’.

No.

Neither of them did the right thing by the horse, only by themselves, they both utterly failed that horse and deserve absolutely no sympathy at all.

Same, having to sit on my hands as cba with arguing with idiots on FB. One comment saying the original owner is the victim! And comparing the comments against the old owner to victim blaming in the case of rape... Just no. The only victim is the horse! Lets hope the lady who has him now does right by him.

For loan, 3yo pony to stay on current yard. You're only to do groundwork with it for a few months, but then you can start breaking it in.

Financial contribution required.

If I remember correctly it has happened that people has replied (previously on this thread) saying they might have accepted such an offer when they were younger, but on the other hand, when young and horse mad, some take any opportunity to be close to horses, sometimes even the not sensible "opportunities".

And of course they want some payment.

Reminds me of Groucho Marx saying " I don't want to belong to any club that will accept me as a member.”

I wouldn't want the person (teenager?) who would do it for nothing, being the trainer for my 3 y.o. !

This one is gold. (The guy frequently posts things like this but this is the best one in a long time). A selection of photos of the thread. There’s so much more to enjoy but the group is a closed one so if you’re not a member, the edited highlights will have to do. The photo he added was in response to someone who gave another person details of a job she’d seen advertised after that person mistakenly thought this guy was advertising a job and asked for details.

The photo of the horse didn’t load as it was too big. Trying again.

That post was getting a very different reception on one of the eventing pages yesterday, though I did wonder whether people had read the financials bit.

But how will those of us on here falling over ourselves for this opportunity get in touch?! (Joke, I do agree with you to remove the name and numbers)

Out of interest how does it work for the top level riders, when they get the ride of a horse that isn't theirs? Do they pay or get paid? I assumed they were paid to produce the horse.

Have seen a screen shot in the comments from current owner stating she is not selling him. Shame on the original owner for giving him away while still in rehab, then has the cheek to complain!

She actually had a sale ad up, which is what started the whole thing, but took it down immediately after the original owner made her post! Now she is saying that she is not selling

Saw a sale advert horse failed 5 stage vetting lame behind but selling for £3,000 but won't sell to anyone will be asking what you intend to do with him and will only sell to the right person.

Err it's lame so I assume horse won't be doing much at all and I very much doubt you will have people queuing up to buy him so you can pick and choose who he goes to.

I mean what planet are these people on.

Hes a nutter! I've not seen his name pop up for a while. He must have sold most of the "badminton" horses! 🤣 🤣
