Why do you feel like that, have you got a baby? Because if so, please be assured that life with an under three vs over three is like night and day - hang in there!!
No baby. That’s kind of you to say though.
Medical condition which is making riding a thing of the past at the moment. Just completely fed up to my back teeth. Had so much time away from my horses with breast cancer. Finally got back in the saddle and managed to ride again after a long rocky recovery.
Only to have my spondylosis and fibromyalgia flare so much I’m struggling to do my usual chores. I swear it’s after the breast cancer I’ve got so much worse. Maybe because I wasn’t aloud to do much at the time my body now says NOOOO.
Riding now is just painful. Even tacking up is a chore. So I’m at a point where I’m unsure what to do. I don’t want to give them up but it’s a daily struggle sadly.

Oh my goodness you poor thing, you've really gone through the mill only to have more obstacles the other side 😔

I'm so sorry, I really hope your body gets itself back under control and this is just temporary for you. Be kind to yourself, you've been through the worst of things x

Just saw this ad on a local group.

"For full long term loan
13.2 Welsh stallion
4yo
Came off the hills four weeks ago, has started groundwork (halter broken, leads, ties, bitted and worn side reins)
Needs some continued 1-1
Quiet - beautiful nature - calm around other horses.
Still a little skittish around loud/fast movements.

I have no interest in taking him back after you have worked with him as I’m too big for him anyway - the loan is long term.

Can move".

I don't understand people why buy him if his going to be too small for you anyway and then 4 weeks down the line decide to loan him as a stallion, despite the fact his only just been halter broken and is not going to be an easy pony to loan.

Just get him gelded and sell him.

Dear God these people obviously have no brain😒

See I presumed they owned him while he was still on the hill not that they've had him 4 weeks and decided too small. I don't have any issue with the advert.

Not sure if this is a local poster or not, but someone’s been repeatedly posting for weeks on FB on both the local community and equine pages looking for a loan to move yards. Each time she goes into some detail about her mental health struggles since losing her old 30 something horse Dexter.

Poster are saying that it’s a con and that she doesn’t respond even if they reply suggesting something. Her posts are certainly weirder than a weird thing.

She’s now saying that people are being horrible to her and that she’s going to block cruel replies. But she keeps pleading for a loan. No replies or reactions at all to her latest appeal, people have got wise now, I think.

It was on a local page and we are nowhere near Wales. I assumed bought from the recent sales. If so, it's more usual to put the work in before rehoming, not expecting a loaner to do the work for you! He was also for sale a couple of weeks ago, so I presume no interest, hence the loan.

I’ve seen that post floating about.
Not sure if it’s the same woman but there was someone a couple of years ago that wrote a similar advert although I think it was for a retired horse for some reason to join her herd. That was some kind of scam/cry for attention.

I lost interest halfway through the post, she doesn’t half waffle on.

In the latest post (and yes she does waffle on) she says that people are falsely claiming that she’s behind one of the equestrian scams reported on the BBC Radio 4 broadcast ‘A Wild Ride dated 25/9/24.

She is spamming numerous FB pages with her self pitying appeal for a loan horse - defo one to avoid.

This may not be ridiculous so correct me if I’m wrong but I couldn’t believe I watched a video of someone straightening their horses mane with hair straighteners. Is that normal? Even in showing?
For me it goes in the same category as dying ponies mane’s pink. I don’t find it cute, I can’t see how it’s in the horses best interest and just seems ludicrous to me.

Well it was hoys… don’t think it’s totally abnormal in showing, and also those types are kept mostly plaited up to preserve the hair but you might not want it curly in the ring.
He also won, won last year too

plaits and bags not unusual. storm sometimes lives plaited as do a couple of cobs on the yard, mane wise mostly to stay cool but think that type is pretty unmanageable otherwise tbh let alone if you’re headed to hoys.

That’s def a showing practice I have least concern compared to a lot of others.

I commented on this post telling her to geld to open up his future options only to be told to mind my own bees wax and that a vet had told her she couldn't be gelded as he had been bred from. I suggested a second opinion.

He's got no recorded breeding and is on a pet passport.

I think pony would look nice trimmed up and plaited as a part bred or riding pony type.

Poor pony has a lovely cut above his eye on the photo she's used to advertise him.

It's a young girl who has set herself up as a livery yard, low end dealer, rescuer type thing.

She's had a few cheap TBs that have ended up being 'rescues' when something goes wrong. Think she's see something advertised cheap and thinks she can make a tenner out of it.

I'm guessing she's bitten off more than she can chew with this one. And I'm 100% sure she'll want to sell him as soon as loaner gets him going anywhere near nicely.

I noticed she said she's following vets advice to leave him entire and got stroppy with someone who suggested his prospects would be better if gelded, yet on the sale ad she stated he can be gelded with her once sold.

Comments got turned off on the loan add pretty quickly. I didn't see the for sale advert.

Showing people do use straightners on the mane and tail sometimes.

Wouldn't be bothered doing it myself, but really it is not harming the horse. If that turnout is bringing out the best look then why not for a competition.

I guess I’ve burnt myself with straighteners quite a few times. I don’t think I’d want something that gets to that kind of temperatures so close to my horse for the sake of “looking good.” It’s not worth the risk to me but I’m really not competitive.

I wasn’t bashing showing or saying the horse was being abused, I just couldn’t fathom taking straightners to my horse.
