I favour the hogged look for myself, too. Starting cutting my own hair with the clippers during lockdown (25mm cut) and have carried on ever since. They are human grade clippers, I do have standards, you know.

It’s a tad nippy around the lugholes when freshly done, but by about the 9 week mark it looks pretty decent. By 16 weeks it’s getting wild and frizzy again, so off it all comes again 🤣.

I used my Liveryman Harmony during lockdown, because I don't have standards! Now I go to a proper barber to get it whizzed off every 6 weeks or so.

But a fresh clip in chilly weather really makes you realise why horses get a bit bouncy afterwards

I also started doing this in lockdown and still use the horse clippers 🤫😆

Going back to the original theme of this thread there’s a post on local FB page looking for someone to come and make a fuss of and potter around with their older horse, who is injured and who can’t be ridden.

‘Small financial contribution required’.

Oh goodie, so you don’t have dig too deeply in your pockets to entertain someone’s else’s broken horse. It’s not clear if the paying person is additionally expected to do any jobs while they are there.

Is anyone else following the posts on the dodgy dealer pages about the old palomino pony who was sold at a sale for meat money and current owner bought a middle aged pony a hand bigger?! It's absolutely bonkers
Yes, but sadly the circus is over now. The person claiming it's her pony admits they sold it after the dealer acquired theirs and presumable since she went through a sale that date is proven. The ponies do look surprisingly similar and I'm not convinced the dealer pony will measure 13.2, that's just what it says in the passport.

Where does it say it's over? I saw that post last night and I think they are still claiming it to be the same pony 😂

Honestly I enjoyed that one for a few hours!! Loved that they couldn’t make their minds up if it was 18, 20 or 22. Their adverts said it was perfectly healthy but their crazy message it was riddled with issues. 🤣

But you can tell winter is coming! All the loan, financial contributions required for my unridable/lame/elderly/two year olds are appearing… or the cheap as chips 24 year olds with “plenty of mileage left” are starting to appear. Poor sods.

Advertisement on FB. Nice looking horse, clearly been out and done things as pictured showing, SJ, dressage.
Owner states horse is out of work and sold from the field due to pregnancy. Fine but the price is 10k.
Who would risk 10k on an unfit horse that hasn’t done anything in nearly a year and trust it’s not had some medical issue?
The advert does state you can ride the horse at viewing and the price will go up exponentially as it’s brought back into work but they prefer a quick sale.

Another advert showing a horse with the worst conformation I’ve seen in some time. It looks like 3 different horses that have been cut and shut together and the two ridden photos it is doing a damn good impression of a camel. 8k and numerous comments tagging people in to buy it.

I saw one last week, 4 year old, just been broken, 'potential' this, 'potential' that. Oh and it'll cost you 25k because of the 'potential'.

I think I'm living in a parallell universe.
I'm seeing a lot like that, that are charging for things that are inside the buyer's head! "has the potential to.." , "in the right hands would..."

Just saw this ad on a local group.

"For full long term loan
13.2 Welsh stallion
4yo
Came off the hills four weeks ago, has started groundwork (halter broken, leads, ties, bitted and worn side reins)
Needs some continued 1-1
Quiet - beautiful nature - calm around other horses.
Still a little skittish around loud/fast movements.

I have no interest in taking him back after you have worked with him as I’m too big for him anyway - the loan is long term.

Can move".

He's free to a good home now 😢 poor little man.

The horse market is crazy at the moment! People are pricing their blank canvases or horses that have quirks that need training out of them as if they are the finished product!

I think what gets me more is the people that comment on posts of people looking for an okay horse with a lower budget (average low level / happy hacker with 5k budget), saying 'you'll never get that for that money!' What is the point in your comment please?!
