This actually worked very well for a collegue of mine who had no garden and wanted to grow veg as a hobby but lives in a flat and allotment waiting lists in our area are 5 plus years, he knocked on some doors and found an older couple who could no longer manage the garden, so he took it over made his veg plot and tidied the rest, they are happy with fresh seasonal veg as "payment" and he loves his growing time!
Im seriously considering it 😅

Got a dm today; someone fundraising £13k to import a breeding colt and wants the public to pay the quarantine and transport costs!
Of course it’s a rare breed but the uk society won’t register any import offspring so it doesn’t actually improve the gene pool of the register.

Please tell me this colt is of a chestnut breed and from the US, otherwise there’s two people trying this sort of stunt.

FOR SALE OR LWVTB
16.2hh warmblood coloured gelding age 11

Very honest advert - please read full ad before messaging.

has been with me for rehabilitation. I do not offer sales livery so this advert is written on behalf of my client who has made all the right decisions for this horse.

was bought unseen and unfortunately suffered with ulcers. After this is behaviour changed and my clients set up is just not the right place for him.

I have worked with him now for nearly 6 weeks and I can safely say he is changing. However I would say he suffers with PTSD. Any reminders of my clients yard seem to change his mood immediately and he becomes very unaccepting.

This boy really needs a fresh start in and understanding and fun home.

is proving to show he adores hacking. He can be "looky" but with a confident rider he gets past things.
I have hacked him alone and in company.
However he is still not a fan of the school and doesn't want to move forward. I have got him trotting around happily but in the time I have I am not sure we will get much further. This will improve in the right environment.

was previously stabled at a riding school without hacking and so I believe this has triggers for him when it comes to schooling.

loves to jump and this is where I feel he will excel in the future. Hacking and popping fences!! He showed him self to be honest and bold.
Currently with his rehabilitation he is not jumping fit though.

He is a striking coloured who also in time could go on the show ring and give someone a lovely ride.

has a MASSIVE trot. He is big and bouncy and is not a novice ride at all.

This lovely lad has really stolen all the hearts at my yard with how much he has come on in a short amount of time. I unfortunately don't have space for another of my own and for that reason my client has decided to sell him. This is for the best as his old set up and finances do jot make is visible for him to have a happy life.

If you would like more information to talk through any of the above please get in touch.
I have videos of him being ridden before and videos of him during his time with me being brought back in to work.

4k without tack. Open to vetting.
LWVTB will come with the condition that while he is on loan he is to stay at my yard. This will be at the cost to the loaner. Please do not consider this option if you are not willing to do this.

Right, so 4k for something that has probable pain issues or pay to have it on loan and do rehab work.
I suppose the only plus is they aren’t trying to sell it under false pretences.

This ad reminds me of my little cob. She was in a riding school, advertised for £1k (but is three hands smaller than the horse in the ad). She’d become so unhappy they couldn’t use her at all with clients. Was fundamentally safe for one of the helpers to get on for me to see though. She was completely on her forehand and spooked at everything. We hacked solidly for months, fixing the schooling as we went and she is now a fantastic hack and mother’s help. There is still a ton more work to do in the arena and her anxiety sometimes just bubbles up at the start of a session, but she’s a brilliant little mare and every now and then I see flashes of the pony she once must have been.

With a full vetting to ensure there isn’t anything else wrong, this horse could actually be a real gem for someone.

I wouldn’t be willing to risk 4k.
RE vetting, I think if you told any vet the history as per the advert they may be hesitant to ‘pass’ this horse for fear of any reprisals going forward.
It’s not a bad looking horse which again would worry me about it being passed from pillar to post. Generally I’ve found ulcers symptomatic of another problem.

PTSD?? Odd!

My best guess is he's been kept stabled 24/7 which has caused him extreme stress and ulcers.

Much more likely there is a physical problem. They haven't even looked for one despite all the glaring red flags.

Just seen an advert looking for someone to work five hours a day, five days a week, in return for food and bedroom.

Theres so many people taking advantage of others. I'm keeping an eye out for a part time role over summer at a caravan park. The number of people who think working 16hours a week for a place to park a caravan and that's it is completely acceptable.

I saw something similar advertised in the Lake District

Contradicting to get experience of what it's like to own a horse but you can also use the indoor school with your own horse? 🤔

I particularly like the bit about if you have your own horse you can use their arena. In the depths of winter I can't imagine wanting to take on the hard work of someone else's horses to experience horse ownership if I already had a horse. I wish someone would come and help me foc, especially with the extra work of taking out gallons and gallons of hot water now everything is frozen.

You must be in the same area as me she's posting in all the local pages, the comments are brilliant except the odd few who think its a 'wonderful opportunity' I couldn't help but comment 😏 the OP has tried defending herself on one of the posts saying she's up at 5am and has all the hard work done by 7, so, why do you need an unpaid skivvy then.. 🤔 and the part about you can only use the indoor school for your own horse, errrr thought this 'opportunity' was for people to learn how to own a horse or whatever tosh she's fluffed it up as 🤔🤔

"Belle is 24 years young. I've had the pleasure of her company for over 10 years now. She's been retired for almost three years due to my employment. Belle is quiet and good to do in all ways. She is not a fan of geldings however and will squeel.
No health conditions, there is a small clicking sound from her joints which due to her age is a little bit of arthritis however this does not affect her. No vices. Only looking to rehome due to a change in personal circumstances. I've exhausted every other avenue. Genuine and serious enquiries only please."

Surely this poor old mare is going to end up with a dodgy dealer being passed from pillar to post...heartbreaking.

I'm a bit ambivalent about this advert as it could almost describe my Old Lady when I got her. In her case her owner had died suddenly and tragically. I hesitated a long time before taking her on due to her age but she's been a brilliant companion to my Little Madam for 2 and a half years now. I have however left instructions that she is to be put down if anything happens to me. I'm not sure she'd get lucky twice.

Maybe sometimes a free horse will be very lucky and land on its feet, but seems very easy prey for a dodgy dealer to make a quick buck as a supposed ridden horse :(

I agree, but on the other hand, I benefitted (and I hope my Old Lady also) from a similar add, which is why I'm ambivalent about it. It is also why there will never be a second similar add for my Old Lady.

I wonder how bad her 'change in personal circumstances' genuinely are? In TP's case, the owner of Old Lady had died, and presumably the relatives were unable/unwilling to keep her. In this case, I would argue that the change in circumstances would have to be pretty extreme that she is not even able to pay for PTS?

I strongly believe that at her age, having been with one owner for 10 years, that any change in yard/ownership would be incredibly stressful, however good the new place was.

It just feels like Pilgrim all over again - the kind thing would be to PTS. 'Change in personal circumstances' is very vague and we can't make assumptions, but if the person has owned the horse for 10 years (so bought age 14) and the horse can no longer be ridden, said change in circumstances could be can't afford 2 horses and wants another young ridden one :( I am very much jumping to conclusions there but have seen plenty of adverts along these lines sadly.

Lots of people trying to offload their old/lame horses. ☹️

Xxxx is the nicest mannered girl you could ever hope for. Easy to do everything with. Will stand for hours to be groomed. Will lead for miles with kids aboard. Calms the most nervous of people.
Stands 13.2hh looks more 14hh, chunk of a mare. She’s approx 15 yr old and does have some arthritis in her offside knee so shows slight lameness in trot.
I love this mare but cannot keep them all
