Cheeky/ridiculous posts you see on Facebook.

I have come across two this week!

I’ve been looking for a share horse for my friends daughter. First was 20 year old tb, been a field ornament for the last 3 years but my friends daughter was more than welcome to try and get him back to happy hacking fitness. 3-4 days a week was on offer with no chores as horse was on full livery. She wanted half of all his coats which totalled £325 a month. No thank you.

Then a 23yr, loan with view to buy. In light hacking, can’t be schooled or jumped, some slight hock arthritis, query metabolic issues, looked like a hat rack. £2500.

Both adverts made me so sad for those poor horses ☹️

Def a curious one!

That is strange! Surely can’t be registered, although I’ve just looked the breed standard up and it says any colour aside from piebald, skewbald and blue eyed cream (which is a whole mess of a thing in itself) but I honestly don’t think it can be pure.

Sad one on Horsequest.

That is indeed sad, especially if he truly isn't having any health problems. But I'm not sure I'll ever understand why people use a ridden picture for a retired oldie, in this case 27 years old, looking for a new home as a non ridden companion. Why? It's showing the one thing he can't do anymore.
It would make much more sense to show a photo of a kid grooming him, the owner cuddling with him, an added arrow pointing towards the horse standing among a bunch of other horses in a field, or even just standing alone, and looking cute/handsome/newly groomed. You know, stuff that he's actually still good at.

Doubly sad because I wouldn't put it past some unscrupulous people to tart him up, stick a saddle on him and sell him for an extra thousand or so within a few weeks, all the while lying about his age. I will never understand how people (the seller) can be so naive about the money making intentions of others.

I didn't see it so don't know the exact wording but I wonder if they are looking for a semi-retired eventer for dressage? I once bought quite an old mare who'd worked her way up to a good level of eventing but was on her way back down the other side. She'd been around a bit so was laid back about going out & about. She was cheap and did me proud for local level dressage and hacking. Just wondering?

'I am looking for someone to ride Roger, he is a 14.2h gypsy vanner cob
He is 15years old I have owned him since he was 3 1/2years old.
I do not have the time to give him the exercise he needs due to having a 4 month old baby girl and a 2 year old toddler
He has been out of work for a while, a friend had previously rode him but he has become strong and fresh. He has bolted twice but I think this is due to recently finding out he had a bean in his sheath which has now been removed.
I would be looking for a financial contribution and you would need to have your own riders insurance
please Private message me if you would like any more info or are interested no time wasters please.
I think he would benefit from a strong confident rider.'

Come and ride my bolter and pay for the privilege 🙈😏

Wanted ad looking for eventer specifying it doesn't need to be able to jump (doesn't sound like that's what the person wants to do with it, or at least not very high if they do) and I can't work out why it needs to be an eventer?
A friend had an ex-eventer for para-dressage. He wasn't allowed to jump anymore but was awesome for what she needed, and unflappable.

I get that eventers don't have to event. I just think, depending on the level obviously, that eventers can be of different types (cobs can y'know!) and non event horses could probably do what they were looking for so I didn't understand why specify eventer to narrow the field of options if it's not to do that job.

Note that they only 'think' it was the bean in his sheath causing him to (supposedly) bolt; they probably haven't braved getting back on him afterwards to find out!

Saw one today, looking €1000, ad went something like this
Lovely horse, ideal companion/happy hacker, not sound, won’t do anything without company but if he’s with other horses he’s perfect, he is also a tricky ride, would need a very experienced rider. He’s in the 15.3-16.2 section, age is ‘aged’….

Yes, you're right, it is odd.

There are a ton of non-ridden shares coming up at the moment. Most recent is looking for someone to do all the non-ridden rehab on a big WB, without even the prospect of being able to ride once it's healthy. Well, unless you're an experienced dressage rider. No other disciplines will be allowed to ride.

Oh, and of course you'll have to pay for the privilege.

If it's anything like the big warmblood mare I had she spent most of rehab on her hind legs 🤣

I'm sure they will have people queuing up for that.

Looking for recommendations/advice. Need to get a pony measured who might be a little over-height. Best places to go? Anyone who does this for people, as in takes them to be measured/measures them for a cert? I am Midlands based.

Will someone please abuse my pony, which I know full well is over height, until it is so knackered that it sinks at the wither standing on over trimmed feet and will measure in so that I can cheat compete in showing classes.

No wonder they posted that anonymously on my local Facebook Equestrian page.
