Cheeky/ridiculous posts you see on Facebook.

Many years ago, I did actually request haylage as my Christmas present. I got it too. It may have been the same winter that I got a wheelbarrow for my birthday (February). I was chuffed with both. I hate receiving tat.

I think I got hay for my birthday one year as a teenager - I was hoping for my dream yard 🤣

Hopefully after the barn is built there will be some money left over to accrue enough interest to get the kid some seriously intense therapy when she's old enough to understand how wrong being used as your parents' cash cow is.
Thing is I think it mostly appeals to (sorry, generalizing grossly here) younger people who want what she's got but failing that being possible, want to feel that they're a material part of her 'journey' so are easily persuaded to part with money. It's so, so disingenuous when they must be making a pretty penny in stud fees and I'm. Presuming a platform that size is bound to come with various freebies and sponsorships because it's exactly the exposure brands want

Paraphrasing a FB add I saw this morning:

"Very sad sale of a red dun, 4yo, mare.
Lovely mare, lots of good points, blah, blah, blah...
Will accept an exchange for a 3yo homozygous piebald or blue roan mare."

Nothing wrong with the advert in itself, but please don't tell everyone it's a very sad sale when there is obviously space for a horse but for whatever reason (breeding probably) you want a different pretty coloured horse.

Could not believe what i was reading with the GFM post for the "dream yard", honestly people really have no morals now! I know their reputation is very patchy but this has to be an all time low, even for them. We bought a yard, needs lots of work doing to it, so you know what we have worked so hard and paid for it as we have gone, still lots to do but it will have to wait until the savings pot has been replenished!. Is that not how it works? Plus the poor child is being dragged into all sorts, and that leads to safe guarding issues. I do despair at where we are heading as a society that things like this are normalised.

As for the lady with the lack of hay, yes i did feel sorry for her, but she hardly helped herself did she? She must have realised how much she had left, how long it would last and when her supplier was running out. Does no one forward think? Plus the fact she had no transport and wasn't being very helpful. We have all had to suck up the increase in price, but we were warned this would happen. If i was that much on the breadline and with 6 horses to keep i would have to look at my priorities and if loaning etc was not an option then a 2nd, or 3rd job it would have to be.

Deleted.

On reflection am keeping that thought to myself but basically am unfollowing someone defending this 'oh they're just a family doing their best for their child' crap.

I dunno what unkind comments she thinks she has seen.

They delete and block anyone who says anything even remotely derogatory.

I got blocked for saying that naming someone and inviting a pile on is gross 😏

I got all excited a while ago that they had closed the JwI account. Only recently realised they must have blocked me on Meta because I posted on Naylors that I wouldn't be shopping with them over Christmas because of their partnership with child 'influencers' in their marketing.

I'm just so mean

After posting my comment on how I'm not comfortable with the GFMs and the like for privileged people, I saw the thread about Redwings and it just made me feel desperately sad.

And yes, once again, I get that people are allowed to give their money to whoever they want. But I don't think I could sleep at nights if I was asking the general public to give me 30 grand for 'dream yard', knowing that places like Redwings, who do so much for horses who are much less fortunate than the SJ 'stars', are facing desperate times. And then shaming people who have a different, but valid point of view!

Awful behaviour. I feel so sorry for the child.

ETA - just looked at one of the recent posts. 'Any slight digs or negative remarks will be instantly blocked.'

Someone has posted 'Please donate to struggling animal charities instead.' I wonder if that will be perceived as a slight dig or a negative remark?

If I can throw my hat in the ring for crowdfunding, you can all have a % of Sadies value (whats 1% of zero???) and if you come visit she will give you a kiss for a grass nut. I only need a tenth of what this lot are asking for 😂
Ha, I can beat that. If you donate £10 to Rigsby's haylage fund, I will send a photo of both haylage AND him eating it, plus, if you do a super £50 donation, you can come and have a ride on him!

Do you think they told the child their plan?

“We’re buying you a yard but if the public don’t fork out for all the upgrades we want then we’re selling ALL your ponies to fund the work. You won’t have any ponies to put on the yard but the stables will be lovey.
If they do donate to the GFM then you must perform like a little circus monkey for them. Ok?”

Exactly, and she’s like what 8 or 9?? I wouldn’t dream of using my child like that.

Although if we lived back in the day I’d definitely stick the lazy sod up a few chimneys to help pay for his own flipping food bill 🤣

I’ve just realised that the woman they ‘named & shamed’ actually donated a couple of quid to them! And all she did was suggest that they donate some of the proceeds to charity.

People are being quite nasty, talking about this person’s ’negative comment.’

What a classy move from the family - not.

Haha reminds me of a certain vet who also does this 👀 some people can’t be told otherwise, I might block them myself as I don’t want to see it in my feed to be honest.

It's such a bizarre narrative isn't it 😅 I often chuckle to myself about whether people go through real-life like this - as soon as someone mentions something that you don't agree with, you just push them over and run away 🤣 sadly I think social media has made a lot of people quite delusional about the weight of their own rhetoric.

Yes she did donate! Disgusting behaviour but they are known for it!

I have no idea what the attraction is? The kid is an ok rider all I can see is a child plonked on a massive horse and now she’s suddenly super popular and riding decent jumping ponies with no special talent 🫨

Money aside (and I do think some people’s priorities with what they spend their donations on is wayyy off but their decision) what I can’t get over is how much this poor child is being exploited. She’s being used for views and to get her loyal fans to donate to build essentially her parents dream yard. The poor child has her whole future mapped out for her and she doesn’t even get a say. At 8/9/10 years old she should be out having fun with her ponies not pressured to get results results results or to produce ponies to earn a living. it’s her parents job to provide for her not the other way around they are essentially exploiting her for child labour and money to build a stable for their business. She’s 8 years old how does she know what she wants to be in 10 years time? What if she doesn’t want a career in horses? does she get a say in that? When I was 8 I wanted to be a famous horse rider (not that I ever had the talent) I was about as horse mad as they come but then I lost interest as a teen, have dabbled in and out of horses since and now not at all but how glad I am to get the freedom to choose this as my hobby.

They also seem to have the money to buy lavish phones/ cameras and tack. Why not just keep 1 or 2 ponies for her to compete and have fun on, why does she need a string of horses at her age? And IF she does decide this is the path she wants to go down she can cross that bridge when she gets there. Shes a brave little rider so she has the ability to produce horses when she’s older. I know plenty of decent horse people including showjumpers who have made a successful career out of horses who never started with a string of Grand Prix ponies at that age. All of that is a luxury. I just can’t imagine putting so much pressure on a little kid to compete and become an international showjumper as they say it’s her “dream” (more like the parents dream)

I really do think it’s about time they bring some regulations in to protect these “child influencers”.

I just think it's hard to keep a horse properly for less than £700/month these days.

Say you're basic DIY livery is £50/week. Hay is costing about £40/week this winter. Bedding - couple of bales of shavings at £20/week. £30 a week for a bag of feed (because your cheap TB probably isn't going to live off a bag of balancer all winter). Farrier every 5 weeks at £90-£100. Physio every 6 months at £95. Saddle fitter every 6 months £120 if you're just needing a basic check and flock. And say you don't insure and chuck £50/month in the pot for vets bills - you're at £700+ already.

If you have that, you can save it for 6 months and buy a £6k horse instead of a £1500 one.

Not all of us have to pay for livery or hay, like me. Experience has also made sure I won't risk spending much more than £1500 on a horse so it's oldies & loans for me from now on.

Tentatively looking for an experienced dressage horse to join us on a short-term loan (around 12 months, but shorter or longer could be considered). Equally happy to hear from owners who may want a capable rider to campaign a horse through the summer season.

Ideally 15–16.2hh and already confidently working around med / ad medium level.

A genuine 10* knowledgeable home offered in North Wales with consistent weekly training from a BD coach. 30 years experience owning and competing, a quiet, sympathetic adult rider used to producing young and maintaining established horses.

The aim would be to compete at area festivals/ regionals while keeping the horse correctly produced and extremely well cared for.

Plenty of references available if required.

Again with wanting a really valuable horse on loan 🙄. Lease I could understand but an adv medium horse on loan is taking the pee.
