Clinic report: Cudo with Richard Spooner

The only thing bizarre is your judgement and criticism. No one likes trolls. Horse was just fine and pretty certain Emily did not ask you, or anyone for that matter, for your opinion on giving her horse Bute.

You need to understand that Emily posts on a UK based board, and in this country it is not legal for a vet to prescribe bute to allow a tired horse to continue working when resting it would resolve the issue, never mind for people not qualified as vets to give it for that purpose.

I'm not saying it isn't ever done here, just that it is not a legal use of bute. Many people in the UK would disapprove and anyone who does has a right to say so, this is an open forum.

The issue was done, dusted and forgotten, but you have done a terrific job of drawing everyone's attention back to it, while also accusing a long standing and respected member of the forum of trolling. It's not a good start for a new poster.

You guys should really not be so judgemental. She got a chance of a lifetime. The horse isn't lame from working the 3rd day. She gave him Ibuprofen pretty much. She didn't drug him with illegal drugs. . it's like you are perfect, no? Maybe just ease up on the criticism. You realize you're not doing anything positive and what has been done is done. Leave her alone!

It always amuses me when someone posts to criticise people for being judgemental, whilst using the word "should."

I think we are all judgemental. That is how we live life. We make judgements.

Again, amusing. Someone new comes on here, which is a zombie thread, throws criticism and judgmental comments, then accuses other people of being trolls?

Priceless.

You are, of course, entitled to your own opinion, and to make your own judgements, but then don't be surprised if people also make their own judgements on what you have said. That is kind of the purpose of a forum.

Anyway, I am disappointed. I thought we had another update from Emily.

I love it when people compare bute to ibuprofen  It definitely doesn't make me then totally disregard anything else they have to say :p

Oy vey!

Sorry everyone. I certainly didn't want to have this particular thread come back to life.

I agree it was very educational and gave me a lot to think about as well as gave the folks in the UK a lot to think about when looking at the American type of normal.

I can appreciate what the new poster was trying to say but it didn't need to be said and certainly not now. I have been and will continue to be honest in my postings and clear that I live and ride in America so inevitably there will be moments where the cultures clash. But likewise there are many more moments where we're all united as caring horse owners and riders. I know I have learned a lot from our discussions to this point and am eagerly awaiting the times that we're sharing show stories again in the future.

Right now I'm at the barn about to turn them out in the mud and rain and then muck out my stables.

Fun weather here. Still not riding and it's a bummer but the best thing to do for our healthcare workers.

Please stay well!

All my best!

Em
