I never really know what colour Millie is, I always call her a strawberry roan but compared to most strawberry roans she looks totally different. So is she a chestnut roan (is that even a colour

?) or a bog standard Chestnut? What colour would you say she was?

Yay, so glad you realised it was an L plate not just a random L. It is for her hunting debut (sp!)

Technically speaking she is Chestnut with Flecks! (some say 'ticking') - its common in welsh ponies and seen in TB's too!!
Iam not personally in the 'know' but I have a good book so Iam learning. lol

According to the link posted by Woopsiid a Chestnut roan is a Strawberry roan

[ QUOTE ]
The colouring on the body can be any colour and different names are often given depending on the base colour. For example a Chestnut Roan is referred to as "Strawberry Roan"

I would call her chestnut, on the basis that a true roan has 'solid colour' lower legs and head and only has roaning on the body, like Mr. Pink....

Millie seems to have quite a few white flecks on her legs and face, although its hard to tell for definite because of her stockings. Her colouring looks pretty even all over whereas Pink's head is quite obviously darker than his body. So on that basis I'd call her Chestnut.

Chestnut Sabino or Rabicano, does she have any white splashes on her chin and belly ??

Not roan, as said she needs to have a solid head and legs to be a true roan, they don't usually have many markings either.

She's lovely

ETA: I'm pretty certain she's a sabino actually, not rabicano
