Favourite coat colour?

After 4 out of 6 of mine have been grey I can confidently say anything that doesn't show the dirt. Ebony was black and I loved that. Wiggy is dark bay (possibly very dark buckskin judging by the colour he goes in summer) and that can look lovely too but even they show(ed) the dust and scurf a bit too much. I'm told a blue roan is the best for hiding dirt so I'll go with that!

Bit of a random question, but I haven't posted a thread in a while. Anyway I've got to say I'm a sucker for Palomino's, Dun's, Buckskin's ect. But I've never had one, (I don't buy for colour) but next in line is probably grey, although it would drive me just about stir crazy if a grey rolled in a big puddle of wet mud and I had to deal with it 🤣
Duns first always love a dun or buckskin I have 2 at the moment but have had 5 duns/buckskins so far.

Bred my Palomino but love them, and bought 2 Greys

May contemplate a roan if it was nice.

I would NEVER touch or buy a a bay or chestnut or black I find those colours boring .

Coloured only if it was a tobiano or paint etc not the coloured cobs colour.

I find it amazing that my horse that has the most white, aka: Mr Darcy, skewbald cob, keeps himself the cleanest! He rarely ever get extremely muddy, whereas my 3 bays and liver chesnut get a full coating of nice thick runny mud most days they go out naked 😩

Roman noses are a big no no in my world! The one this you have to see over the stable every day is the head so you may as well have something you like.

I'm not keen on flaxen manes and tails. I like a deep, rich chestnut end to end. Not keen on socks but if they have them they have to have an even number and on certain legs - 2 or 4 socks. If 2 they have to be either on the hinds or the diagonals. Never over the knee/hock either. Never have 1 or 3 socks - it makes the odd leg out look thinner or lame. Blazes have to be neat and tidy, not wide nor through the muzzle.

Coloureds have to be evenly marked with more dark colour than white and the tail has to be dark.

I'm not pick honest 😂🤣😂
I’m the exact same! I’m so fussy I annoy myself. Imagine how pleased I was to find this chap, chestnuts are my favourite especially ones with white splashes and big socks.

my boys socks are all even and big and I love them - apart from on show days.

I could deal with those socks on a Welsh as it gives them flash but that blaze is far too wide and long for me 🤣 soz!

This is my kind of blaze:

Then I ride out Sox every day 😂😂 you can't miss him at the races!

I don't think I have one, genuinely, but I did go OH WOW at a lovely chocolatey dun I met on Saturday. You just don't see many of them about!

THANK YOU I was trying to remember the word Pangare. We only have adorable white belly and leg fluff in the winter, you can't see it at all in summer, but then on a good day you get a shine like this and you can't beat it

I love a dapple grey apart from the fact they all go white, and it generally only takes a few years to go from perfectly dappled to fully white. I have a very pretty Connemara who had the perfect circular dapples and he looked exactly like a rocking horse. Sadly the dapples faded over three years, and after another two years he was completely white. Greys are a nightmare to keep clean, but when they are immaculate I think they are very striking. I like the fact greys are easier to find in the field in the dark 🤣

I am partial to a smart chestnut with a blaze and socks, I also like black horses and certain shades of bay. A few years ago I saw a stunning pair of cream dun carriage horses which really caught my eye. I'm not too keen on any broken colours, but I would prioritise physical type over colour. Having said that though, I would probably say no to a cremello due to the difficulty avoiding sunburn.

So, in short, there are some colours I prefer, but there are a lot more factors contributing to whether I like that individual horse or not!

I am very fickle so my favourite colour is whatever colour horse I have at the time! So currently chesnut - he has 2 white socks under all that mud and in summer has a lovely shine ❤️
