Hello! I've just joined. Wondering if there are any other Arab owners/lovers on here?

I am the besotted owner of H Tobago - 3yo pure-bred Arab stallion.

This is my boy (as a 2yo last summer):

I have a pony trekking centre so 40 or so gypsy cobs, welsh d crosses, shire crosses etc. My own horse is a 16hh Clydesdale cross. Is H Tobago your only horse and I assume you're going to put him up for stud, are you going to ride too? If so what discipline?

Golly passie - 40 horses!

Yes, Tobago is my one and only horse. He is at stud - this is his first season, proving to be v popular with lots of fab mares booked!

I do plan to ride him as well - he's being v gently backed and started under saddle this year, but won't do much with him till he's 4, as he's still growing. Later possibly dressage as he has v elevated movement - but he decided to start jumping when he was turned out in the sand school the other day - jumped a coloured fence all by himself, just for fun - so maybe jumping too...?

He will be shown in-hand again this year as well - so he's quite busy!

What do you do with your Clydesdale cross?

Ousbek - French Bred so bred to perform not show, by Arzew out of Diarex mare. He international JA, Won Silver Medal on Nations Cup for France and was ridden by Ricki Hill in this country, then he cam to me and ive been having beautiful babies ever since!

Ousbek sounds amazing - I do like Arabs that get out there and prove themselves in open competition.

My boy so far is just a show horse, and has only proved that he can prance about on the end of a string looking pretty.

But I bought him as much for his athletic conformation as his pretty face, so I hope he will have a performance career when he's old enough!

Meanwhile, here's the pretty face:

He's beautiful! Ousbek is cool but gets abit of a bad do in this country for being a show jumping arab, alot of people think he's a freak but his pedigree says not! His dad has sired 10 international SJ Horses and 6 Internationa SJ ponies, as well as eventers, dressagers (!?! is that a word!) as well as Arab racer, endurancers (again is that even a word - ive been celebrating my birthday and I think the wines gone to my head!) and show ones! So pretty versatile breeding lines!!

Hello, and Welcome.

Very handsome chap you have there, tidy breeding too. Good Luck with your showing season.
Having just moved from Wales I can tell you that the place is stuffed full of arabs, nice little stallion called Psynergy stands just up the road from where I lived. as you know, Psynergy and Psytadel are by the same stallion. I have only the one arab here, a little Amurath mare.

Well I don't have an arab but my mare is a 1/4 arab so I don't know if that counts. Her mother was an anglo arab - used for endurance i think - she belonged to the Abbot-Davis family. She was put in foal to a show-jumping stallion called Panther who belonged to Malcolm Pyrah and my mare is the result. She is the bay on the left of my signature - I think you can just see a trace of the arab in her. I think she's quite an unusual mix of breeds - people seem surprised when I tell them. I guess the idea was to produce an eventer - the endurance of the mother mixed with the jump of the sire. I do a bit of everything with her - she is quirky but genuine.
Welcome to the forum.

Thanks! Sorry - I should have given my chap's breeding: he's by Psytadel (Padrons Psyche x Bint Bey Shah) out of Teeba (Gonorar x Queens Topaz).

I've met Psynergy and he's gorgeous - and a wonderfully calm, laid-back character as well!

Mine's a bit more fizzy - the Bey Shah influence - but incredibly sweet-natured (I have never once seen him put his ears back), and the most affectionate horse I've ever met.

You're right about Wales! Tobago came from there too - I bought him from the Gamlins (a well known name in the Arab world - Peter and Mark Gamlin are international judges and show trainers) who live near Aberdare.

I don't know anything about that side, sadly other than she came from the Abbot-Davis stud. I think a few mares from this stud were put to this stallion as " an experiment". I assume the Abbot-Davis family have quite a close relationship with the Pyrahs given that Malcolm used to promote the balancing rein.
I've found out quite a bit about Panther thanks to some very kind people on this site, but at least I knew his name. I tried PMing a member of the Abbot-Davis family that was on this site but they never replied - either because they don't come on here often or haven't had the best experience of the site (long story - don't ask). The link for mailing via the site for balancing reins doesn't work and there's never an answer on the phone number on the site so I think it must be out of date.
But ..... if anyone does know anything about this stud I'd love to hear about it.

I've always been just an onlooker in the arab showing world but was very much into the racing side of things years ago.
I was going to give up on the arabs when I came over here, that lasted ohhhhh, about 2 months, until I saw my girl advertised, living in a herd of QH's in foal to a scrub pony stallion, but too sweet and too sad to pass by, the rather nice breeding was a bonus. Cruiser, on here, also from Canada, keeps pointing me towards a rather lovely stallion for her, he's a Padrons Psyche too. I am undecided about breeding from her again, see how she goes with this one. This is her breeding....

Thanks bonzabean! To be honest, he's waaaay too good for me - I still can't quite believe he's really mine!

Haven't quite sorted out final show plans yet, but probably HoCon summer 'C' show, Wessex ditto, the Nationals and maybe the UK International at Towerlands.

He's already an international champion, but he likes showing off, so we might as well do another season in-hand before starting proper work under saddle...

Is that yours in your avatar? Looks quite a character!

Enfys - We have a mare booked to Tobago from one of the top Arab-racehorse trainers - Sam Davison - do you know her? Really nice person. I was kinda surprised by this nomination, as Tobago is basically a show horse, but Sam says she's hoping for speed AND beauty!

Wow - your mare has a fantastic and fascinating pedigree - some of the same Polish lines as my boy. She should certainly be fast as well as pretty. Would love to see a pic if you have one you could post.

Just laughing to myself here, you can always tell the addicts by their interest in bloodlines! I am doing the same with APHA's now.

When I was first sucked in to the world of arabs my racing friends told me that I'd soon get into bloodlines, I thought that was rubbish but now I read through a pedigree or see a name and think, Polish, Russian, Crabbet, Egyptian etc, etc I really must get a hobby

Go back far enough and they are all related!

I have two.... one is 77.3% and the other full. The bloodlines I no nothing about!
They are from the Vlaq stud. I really should find out more! I just enjoy them though
