Horse wont come out of his stable

if your horse has either laminitis/EMS and the vet tells you that you must restrict your grazing to a small pen and then you can weekly enlarge it slightly what would you do if not use electric fencing?
I am genuinely curious. Do you erect post and rail fencing and move it a couple of yards weekly or what?

Also it comes down easy so in the winter the horses get their big acreage field back and many more hours outside than they would in small paddocks that would turn to mud quickly. Longer turnout is more of a priority to me than worrying about a fence they don’t touch. They know when the electric is on and don’t get close enough to it to get a shock.

Honestly, it’s really disappointing that I encouraged people to let it go as a silly mistake egged on by other people, and now shes come back worse than ever.
I’d like to say Im surprised but on previous sadly Im not.
Her very first post should have been an apology and I’m sad it wasn’t. You dealt with it admirably!

Well aren't you lucky then. We are not all able to say that.
Phrasing, Birker. Welfare should absolutely come before convenience but being genuinely restricted by financial means or what is permitted on a commercial yard is a little beyond convenience. Heras fencing is going to be genuinely beyond some people and the comparison between electric fencing vs heras fencing and electroshock walker vs just-not-doing-that is not really valid.

For god sake how is this even a question. Its quite clearly crispy. How is peanut even on the list 🤢
I can't eat the crispy ones, they have gluten in them 😭

I don't put a price on my horses safety/wellbeing. Their welfare comes before my own convenience.
See esters reply above, or my hubby is very handy with a post knocker and some rylock. We also have appropriate sand/dirt paddocks for fatties/laminitics so would manage.
sorry but I can see far too much potential for little paws going through that fencing. Too dangerous for me I'm afraid unless the horse is fenced off it. (link below)

However I am not sure if anyone else knows this, perhaps I am the only one. A horse in a field does not HAVE to touch an electric fence. It has a choice.

If we are looking at welfare then of course this is important and in all honesty anyone who puts their weight on a horse's back plus a saddle and ties that on with a girth around it's middle has the potential to cause the horse pain. That is before we add the bit in it's mouth or hackamore on it's nose. Many do of course and of course they get away with riding because the horse puts up with it.
I guess you don't ride because of the welfare risk..

I am not going to comment as someone will have great satisfaction in reporting me no doubt. And you shouldn't either as the post was closed down so shouldn't warrant more discussion.
The thread isn't closed. Your malicious post was removed, as were you for a time.

ID posted the photo again to provide some really good information showing the differences in conformation, for which I am grateful.

I have to say I admired your restraint and attempt to smooth troubled waters at the time, far more forgiving and understanding than I would have been under those circumstances. Such a pity it has been flatly ignored rather than accepted as a goodwill offer to start over and move on for the poster, as I assume was your intent. :(

I’m sorry that you seem to have been used as a crash test dummy in outing the real nature of a poster who, over the years, many of us on HHO have supported and felt sorry for, me included.

It’s the last thing you needed, but you have come out of all this with your head held high and your integrity intact. Be proud of yourself.

*beep me*
Been out doing constructive equine things and come back to a load of posts...

Summing up my findings:-

Horsewalkers are for lazy persons who are not pro's
Idiots only would put electric zappers on a horsewalker
Total idiots would put a colicy horse on a walker.
Many are slammed by one person for using electric fences, same person thinks it's same as electric prod in contained area on a walker. Fight broke out...
Apologies haven't been issued.
To finish off, I've found more peanut m&m friends, nom!

As you were, seconds out.....
