Horses with human names?

On my yard we have a heather, Rosie, mo, Edward, kara, izzy, Katie, jack, Hugo, Bradley, Elliot, Archie, Henry, Wilma, Tom, Theo. Hugo is my mums and we named him that as he's a little dopey like Hugo from the vicar of dibley!

I've had a mix of human and non human names. Honey, Harley, Dooze, Polly, Whiskey, Primrose, Buttons, Brian and Pye. At the yard there's also a mix Albert, Kermit, Fergus and Lexi to name a few

Loving all these names...I know where to come if I ever get another horse and I'm stuck for suggestions :)

What's the strangest name you have ever heard for a horse?

I love human names. We've got a Steve, a Bill and a Winston on our yard. Steve is my favourite. It just makes me laugh when people say "this is my horse, Steve".

i had a little tb called steve ,and yes my OH is also steve . ive also had a barney ,a bryn, an archie , and a jake !

My current boy is called Fallon - which actually is a human name, but I don't know any people called it which probably makes a difference. I chose it because it is Irish (as is he) and it suited him.

I know someone called Falon... although they are female

My new cob is called Geoffrey ! I wasn't sure about it to start with, but it has kind of grown on me now lol. The funny thing is that a couple of months before I got him a new horse came to my livery yard and he is called Jeffrey too, although spelt differently, and they are both turned out together, so when you call him they both look up and come over. I had never come across a horse called Geoffrey before and now I know two !

I have Jessie....have known a Dave, Eric, Jack, Scotty, Harry, George, Amy, Glen, Oscar, Mary, Bob, Joe, Charlie, Maggie..... And a Polly to name a few: D

I have a Caffy but when people repeat it back to me that say "Cathy"? ... I'm like no .. be more like an Eastenders extra when you say it ... Caffy .... ;)

I don't use her name very often, lol

I was offered a Margaret recently as a loan horse :D that's just not right. I'd decided to shorten it to Peggy but then decided not to take her on.
Got a Charlie though as a share. I tend to call him Charles as it's more suited to his age and demeanour:)

I have a Jackson. He came with that name, so it's his name :) Neither he nor I like it when people shorten it to Jack :D although my 95 year old mother in law is allowed, just because. (Mainly just because she likes to give him apples, so he probably wouldn't mind if she called him Shirley ;)).

Previous horses (shares and loans) were a Shannon and a Blaze. On balance I think I prefer "name" names, rather than calling a horse after a thing, if you see what I mean? Although Shannon, I suppose, is both a thing and a name.

I have a Joey! i have worked on a yard and we had George, Sid, Harry, Daisy, Mia, Sid, Bob, Sid, Leo, Erin, Bella, Millie and Jimmy and there just the ones i can think off!!
Human names are very common.

My youngest pony is called Harold

I named him Harold after my late grandfather. He was born the day before what would have been my grandfather's 85th birthday. My grandfather paid for me to have riding lessons when I was a child and when I was older he used to come to watch me when I first got into showing. Harold's reg name is not human, it's Minerva I Giorni. Minerva is my prefix and I Giorni is a piece of music meaning 'the days' which is sung as a lament for the death of a king or great person or for the loss of a loved one :)

I really like human names for horses. Mine is a Leo (or Leonard when he's naughty). Not sure why but I definitely prefer human names for horses. Although, I do know a sec a pony called David..... that one doesn't work for me though!

All three of mine have human names! Ollie, bonnie and alfie. Bonnie was 'Betty' in a previous home apparently and Alfie was called Icarus but nobody could remember it. We called him Alfie after the movie character because he's a rig and likes the ladies :) he's Alfred when he's in trouble though

My girl is called Ethel, my cats are Billy, Shaun and Bunyip (I know Bunyip isn't a human name but I cant leave him out!) I also have six fish named Russell, Howard, Michael, Lee, Milton and Peter .. All named after comedians and no, I cant tell them apart!

I have a Larry and Robbie and they suit there name's. I would not change them :D I have also owned a Thomas, Paddy but my dog's have human name's Brian and Bruno lol Missed my cay out Tash

I know a henry, oliver, Ben, roger, Leah, Ellen, Ellie, Toby, Tony, Jessie, Oprah, Barney, William, Fred, Jimmy, Aaron and of course a Grace. Four of the horses I've listed share names with human friends of mine and one shares my name! Its pretty disconcerting when your yard manager yells your name across the yard in her bestest cross teacher voice, let me tell you!!!
