How is this vet allowed to conduct themselves like this online?

And referred to putting elderly and infirm horses down as 'killing' them......the irony
this really insenses me

even moreso after what i had to do to my snail - by all accounts it was a hideous thing to have to do - but kinder than leaving them to starve to death

and i know i've left animals too long previously but there's a HUGE difference between euthanasia (SV maybe needs to remind herself what that word means!) and " killing " which I will freely admit I didn't understand until I actually started doing euthanasias but I'm not a vet preaching to thousands online either ....

As a trivial aside, did anyone watch the video of her and Mabel 'singing'? I watched the first ten seconds or so of it and it's actually quite cute - her horses are generally very affectionate with her. She REALLY can't sing though!

The horses all seem institutionalised into having to do what she says though, so don't really know how to say 'No'?
And I don't think they get much if any time being able to be tactile with other horses do they? The odd few moments over a door, or leaning over a fence in a field?
So I'm not sure if it is 'affection' rather than simple desperation for actual interaction and physical contact with another being which is so important in their daily lives?
And she's admitted before that she rewards them for doing things like the twisted neck moments, so it's learned behaviour for reward rather than anything else perhaps?

Sadly I think you're right, I also think mabels new good behaviour is that she's actually given up trying to communicate and just shut down / is complying. All very sad and doubly so that this is a vet who should have a better understanding of these things.

Aw :(

I've only actually seen snippets of a couple of her videos, and both had horses doing 'kisses' so I assumed it was a general thing. Are her horses not turned out together?

Exactly this. There are significant signs that Mabel has issues behind still though...

'Heavy' on her front shoes
Strong into the hand even during basic flatwork so she's using a stronger bit and flash
Hard to get to work under herself
Difficult to hold together (or however she termed it) through a course of jumps, also hence the stronger bit
Reluctance through doubles (until that was 'addressed')
Still spinning at times
Her stance in some photos
I'm sure there are others... Oh, bony changes detected on x-ray in her hocks...

In 2024 we should be better than this. Especially a vet. :(

I might feature on her page soon 🤦‍♂️. Someone posted her worming advise on a local equestrian page. I suggest people should seek advise from there own professionals. She jumped on it very quickly. Ooops

ETA - she just replied to someone agreeing with what I've said!! 🤣

I've just seen it.

Comment from SV "I can assure you this is 100% correct; I have over 100000 followers so absolutely wouldn’t risk posting incorrect advice ☺️".

Im pretty sure that comment isn't correct either 😂😂😂

Oh my GOODNESS!!!

(This is to the worming thread btw!)

Yes, Mabel was so distressed she lost herself and went over. She has seemingly tried repeatedly to express that she struggles to do what is required of her, and now has bony changes in at least one hock. But she's not in pain or overwhelmed, she's just been difficult. So has Alfred...

Or ill fitting tack? Which she openly admits probably in the hope of a saddlery sponsor.

She can’t tell the difference between advise - the verb and advice the noun either #grammarpedant

Which wouldn’t matter at all if she wasn’t so patronising and arrogant in correcting someone who was right!

Her poor bl00dy horses. What awful lives they lead. Never turned out. Never engaging with each other. Punished for their confusion and physical issues when they try and communicate them. 😟😟

I’m pretty sure whilst she posted a while back about saddles not fitting, she’s since posted about having her saddler out and rejigging who wears what saddle, and having saddles adjusted and everyone currently has a recently checked, adjusted and passed by a saddler as good fit saddle. There were posts about this post saddler visit.

I missed that one... Do you have a link please?

I've noticed none of this 'advice' ever tells people what they should do, only what they shouldn't. Her worming post, and the recent comments, could have advised what owners should do, but instead she just insults people that try and learn.

Quite a normal tactic of a certain type of person I think? Trying to keep people down beneath them rather than encouraging them up?

I must have missed that.

Maybe that's why her horses have all started to play ball in the arena 🤔

Has anyone seen on that falling over video someone commented ‘I bet she has taught you lots’

The reply
‘Oh, she hasn’t taught me much as I’ve backed and ridden difficult ones since I was 10! But very relieved she’s pulled herself together now!’

The sheer arrogance! 😂 why does she feel the need to correct any comments that make her look anything other than the world’s best rider!

Yet most professional riders will tell you that every horse they ride teaches you something new. The best teacher is your horse !
