How is this vet allowed to conduct themselves like this online?

Yes it’s famously easy to manage conditions without labels
Well, yes, my mare for example (cushings) had only muscle / weight loss and treatment resistant ear mites as her symptoms, if not diagnosed to get prascend I have no idea how I would treat those things, she would be an absolute hat rack this winter. Of course all these issues might just be because she doesn't get fed at the exact same time ( or even close to) each day 🤣

According to previous posts by SV, your pony just needs managing, not Prascend 😡

Oh, I'd forgotten about that little gem from her lol, there are so many that it's hard to keep up, would be interested to know how she'd treat the symptoms, obviously I tried feeding the pony more to put more weight on, must have just been giving her the wrong stuff though 🤷‍♀️

How the RCVS can’t see that a post like that is more than just an “opinion” is beyond me. Surely it's verging on misconduct in the provision of care she’s admitted giving (or not giving) her clients. I’m not sure where the line is drawn 🤷🏻‍♀️

I still had the screenshot because I reported it at the time. The amount of replies from people who felt vindicated for not giving their ponies prascend, solely due to the cost of it, was staggering. There will be ponies suffering now because of that post and thats got to cross the line.

That advice plus the if you have your horse pts before it's struggling to get up its because you can't be bothered to put the work in, or that punishing a naughty horse is the right thing to do, the current one of cobs have thick skin and that's normal, plus lots more I'm sure I've forgotten about.

I think there are also people who gave prascend as advised by vets, and struggled through the prascend veil, and then for one reason or another found side effects too much, and stopped the prascend and the horses seem to be doing ok.

I think the case for and against prascend being in a horses best interests can be complex. I think there might be a slight tide of vet opinion going against the initial thinking that Prascend was a magic fix all. But I dont think it is clear cut at all, or think sweeping statements are a good idea.

In case anyone wants to know her name horse is now sound out of shoes 🤷 FB thought I should know so she must be high up the algorithm.

This is hilarious. I wonder if she will now issue an apology to all those she has attacked over the whole 'competition horses MUST be shod' nonsense.

I wonder how long until the likely hind end issue starts to cause an issue again though.

Let me preface this by saying that I think shouty vet is appalling, and bad for animal welfare, and I disagree with that post.

However, my cushings horse who had been on prascend for years stopped eating and seemed really depressed. My vet rechecked his levels and said she thought they were too low for a horse on prascend. So we took him off it (he was only on half a tablet). He is now inhaling his food and has his personality back. No cushings symptoms. So there are cases where prascend may not be suitable, or may become unsuitable.

She has said that shoes will be going back on in the nearish future as she is a competition horse and will need them so she doesn’t slip …..

If HHO are furious at shouty vet then the woman below is off the scale 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

post 16 Jan 9.14 has her and others comments. There is also more info re CPL

Jillian is a good example of how you can be loud and opinionated on sm and yet still engage with those who disagree with you :)

Oh I have seen a good few of hers, she is hilarious. I actually quite like her, very down to earth and fires straight from the hip just the sort I would rather deal with to be honest. 😅

I'm surprised by this response to a complaint to the RCVS re the social media Code of Conduct - 'it does not expect veterinary surgeons to be impartial nor does it prevent personal opinions being expressed'
So any kind of BS up to and including inaccurate information on a diagnosis is ok then?

Is this in response to a Shouty Vet complaint or some other vet's social media attitude?

Oh wow! Has anyone sent them details of the latest saga do you know? I just find it very odd that she can wilfully spread totally inaccurate knowledge, to the detriment of horse welfare and it isn't of any concern to them. Sort of lowers your confidence in their supposed code of conduct altogether really.🤷‍♀️

I am not surprised by this. The RCVS close ranks and will fight vets corners unless it’s really bad.

Well, you also need to remember that one of the chief roles of any professional association is to look after the interests of its professional members, and to not bring that profession into disrepute.....not very helpful, but sadly very much the case.

What an utterly wet response! Do they not get the opinions of SV aren't the point here? It is the stating of incorrect information as fact, not opinion. And that such misinformation has the ability to cause harm.
