Mine were just scared and wanted to get away, I think just the one terrier might snap but I’m pretty sure the 2 boys wouldn’t

It was quite difficult not to say a few choice words but I was a bit busy trying to hold my 3 as I’ve got arthritis in my shoulders and hands and it was not easy even though they aren’t big dogs they are quite strong trying to get away

Thankfully it’s not happened very often to us. But I simply won’t tolerate it - and my mouth and foot become fully engaged in an instance.
 
We’ve been man trailing up on Cannock Chase and they were all out today ! Numerous people arriving in car park and opening boot and letting dogs out to run everywhere, including 1 who had 5 dogs . Then when I was coming back with my girl down quite a narrow path , a group at the bottom of 4 people and 4 off lead dogs decided rather than wait at the wide part to let us come down they would just carry on up . Luckily Zen s a good girl and sat quietly while these dogs charged past . Then the very last dog, who is reactive , was working beautifully when a dog came charging over without an owner even in sight . Handler had to stop her dog on its track which broke her concentration, and when owners eventually appeared they couldn’t call the dog back 😡
 
Elderly couple in the feed merchents today when I went to buy dog food had an XL bully pup - the thing was huge, from ear wigging while browsing I found out it was 5 months old, it's the size of a small labrador already, will definatley measure in on just about every aspect, had the HUGE jaw and little pale piggy eyes- I noticed it was castrated already...they were loudly telling everyone it was a Staffy, total denial and it was hauling the guy around the shop - disaster waiting to happen but I was thinking what on earth went through their mind to aquire such a huge powerful dog...

I have sold a XL puppy in November to a young woman named Konnie and a lad jordan chalmers i from your town they are laughing saying the been dogs been put down and not stuck to our payment arrangement all i want to know if the dogs safe don’t care about the money so if you see these people with my dog please get intouch with me so I can help this dog my dad breeds dogs and has for over 25+ years there’s a bed already made for the pup in my home

Yes this is what I've been noticing in the last few years. I've always known Staffies as bouncy, wriggly, happy little lumps that love life and people. They're gradually getting larger with a different head shape, upright hocks and a noticeable remote, distant look to the eye. These dogs are not happy but I'm assured they're staffies?? Apparently the XL is an American pit crossed with an American Staff. Classic case of rebranding if you ask me.
 
Ah, the dogs of Mugdock...

This week's prize goes to the owners of the beagle pup, who I saw chasing a cyclist as we (three horses and two foot soldiers) made our way along the track. My first thought was, "Oh, balls." The beagle stopped chasing the cyclist (lucky him) and started running up and down the line of three horses barking its head off. I flicked my whip at it whenever it got close to me because Fin will kick at dogs he finds annoying. Owner running after it, to no avail. It was much faster than he was. We decided to walk on because we could have been standing around forever.

The dog followed us for a few minutes, then another cyclist came past, and the dog ran off after them.
 
I have decided he’s friendly , means he has no idea how to talk dog so is unable to communicate or understand his own kind it’s really sad .
On a brighter note I am so proud of Pearl she really come through her caution and the attendant reactivity I have had her in two really challenging situations recently and she was fab.
Accepting rather than enjoying the way to describe it .
The next bit is harder managing the other dogs loose on the beach which I do atm by avoiding places that get very busy at those times .
She needs to get exposed to this regularly now.
All of this was caused by her being pounced on lead and mounted by a very large golden retriever who Dram faced up to and then having that very unfortunate encounter with the very drunk lady in the pub with the staffie who was very friendly but Pearl was trapped under a bench and did not want a complete stranger under there all she did was make a noise and hide and did get her out quickly but was noisy lots of locals helping to deal with the lady who became angry when when told her no and Pearl was scared .

Not dogs, but a rabbit rescue I follow on FB has just shared a story about a poor bunny that came to them with a broken back and leg and had to be PTS as the injuries were too severe to fix

The reason for this? Their children ran him over on their bikes on Christmas day 🤬🤬🤬

I can't get his picture out of my head, it's actually making me cry 😭

Surely that's RSPCA country isn't it? That must be an offence to leave the animal to suffer.
 
I fine getting flak for this, but this is one of the reasons why I can't stand most parents. They're so absorbed in their little world of them and their kids. So many animals suffer because of this. Whether it's dogs being scolded after the kid does something in the wrong, not wanting to put an animal to sleep because "what about the kids" or the animals not being exercised and otherwise neglected. Parents are some of the most self absorbed when it comes to them and those offspring. "Oh, the kids are just kids and didn't mean it, and we put the rabbit away then because it was hurt"....no vet. The kids have little rules and consequences for their actions. They don't need to take any responsibility and society goes on being a sh*t show that lacks personal responsibility. It utterly grosses me out and I wouldn't be so salty about it if I didn't see it time and time again.

OMG, some people shouldn't have kids let alone animals. Makes you wonder what the little darlings are going to grow up like🤬
 
Yesterday's winner from "The Dogs of Mugdock."

The owner of the dalmation who wears a bell (haha...meaning, you know it runs off). Myself, horse, and OH are crossing the large carpark at the visitors centre, heading towards the woodland trails. I can see the woodland trails and see aforesaid dalmation racing around in the trees, no owner in sight. I rein in horse and walk slowly, commenting to OH, "Does that have an owner anywhere?"

"Yeah, she's at her car calling it," he says.

Indeed, the owner is standing next to her car, on the other side of the carpark, shouting for the dog. Eventually, when it could be bothered, it recalled, running across the carpark. Very easy for a driver to back into because it's out of the eyeline of most people's wing mirrors when it runs behind vehicles.

Don't most people put their dogs on a lead before they get to a road/carpark?

Yep, this. Usually pop the boot internally before they can even be arsed getting out.

Full marks to the silly coiw with the cockdoodlepoodleoddle thing this morning who couldn't wait 5 seconds for me to pass and unclipped her lead right in front of me and the youngest dog who was onlead , hers ran straight upto mine and got in his face, he's a bit nervous of new dogs so I blocked the oodle and firmly said no, then I'm afraid a no holds barred rant on it's dithering owner who just kept muttering sorry...stupid, useless irresponsible idiot... can't wait until the roadworks are finished allowing me to walk in my normal place of a morning idiot free.
 
Friday eve, unmuzzled XL bully with owner rounds the corner of our street while we're getting ready to load Ivy into the car parked on street just outside our house. Not much pavement space so I thought probably they would cross the street but quickly became apparent not as it towed the guy along. It was one of the bigger ones I've seen and that's saying something.

OH was bent down reaching across the back seat of the car setting up a blanket for Ivy so was oblivious. There wasn't time to explain and my fight/flight instinct just took over - I scruffed the back of OHs coat and yanked him out of the car, launched Ivy in, slammed the car door shut, took OHs arm and directed us both back into the house. I could hear the dog behind us doing something but did not stop, did not look back, no questions asked, I protected us and our dog. Such a horrible feeling.
