I take mine out very early and carry water with me , mine are black so I think they feel the heat more so I’m extra careful, felt really bad for the Rottie as it was 12.15 and really hot

A man with a little dog stopped my at the yard today to ask if we’ve had problems with a Rottweiler. A couple of days ago he was walking on the footpath at 7am and Rottweiler was off lead no collar on, and came flying at his dog and attacked it. He said he thought his dog was going to be killed and he had to resort to punching the Rottweiler to get it off.
Thankfully little dog is ok, but very shaken. Rottie owner was his usual useless self, it was an accident, blah blah.
Man reported it to the police. I told him that we’ve had several issues with the same dog and I have also reported it for attacking the horses.
He’s since spoken to several local walkers and knows of three other dogs who have been attacked by this dog, so he has asked those owners to report those incidents. Trouble is, we don’t know where this man lives or his name. I know the name of the dog and I have a vague idea which roads he might live on, based on which direction he comes from and goes back, but that’s about it.

Not really an owner issue but Ivy absolutely would like to submit a complaint to management regarding whoever though it was a good idea to set a giant flame under a balloon, attach a basket and go flying in it over our house! Poor girl is very stressed out so we're making her a den behind the armchair.

At the worlds a few years ago the local dignitaries thought it would be a great idea to have a hot air balloon on the pitch in the middle of the stadium for the opening/closing ceremonies.

This. Did. Not. End. Well.

Other wheezes over the years have included a brass oom-pah-pah ensemble and a full on samba band, with dancers.

I wasn’t overly impressed with a dog owner at the vet today, I’m sat in the designated cat section with one of the rabbits as far away from the dog section as I can get (there’s a walkway bit through the middle) and some idiot decides to let their yorkie type dog come all the way over to sniff me (& presumably the rabbit but he was in a carry case up on the seat fortunately).

Said person wasn’t very happy when I said they should call their dog back to them. It was one of those stupid extendable leads so the dog managed to walk under the row of seats that also acts as a barrier as well as creating a trip hazard on the walkway 🤦🏻‍♀️

Like seriously, I’m clearly sat over here as far away from you as I can get for a reason, the rabbit is already stressed out without having a dog come wandering over too.

Then the guy started moaning to his partner then I’m unreasonable because the dog was just saying hello. Luckily the vet called us in a couple of minutes later!

People in vets can be so thoughtless. I had a similar problem when I took a Guinea pig in. There was a dog in there barking its head off in the waiting room and the owner just sat doing nothing while all the other animals were getting stressed out. No idea why you wouldn’t just take the dog outside for a few moments, or attempt to stop it.

I wonder if any local vets might be able to help? I can’t imagine a smaller dog standing a chance with a Rottweiler having a go. I’d be horrified. Mine are very wary of bigger dogs. I’d hope they’d run, they’re good at getting on when told.

Have to say I’d go fricking nuts at their lack of sense, allowing a ‘predator’ to get up close and personal to an already stressed prey animal. What a dick.

Hope she's ok, SPD. Hot air balloons are a ruddy menace 😡. Hate them.

I've picked up loose dogs before who have bolted after being scared by one.
Tell me about it and I live in balloon fiesta city of bristol and we have to check weather, wind speed and direction and time before we even dare leave our house at the moment, we usually drive in opposite direction to wind direction to find somewhere to walk Rip.

Vets are bound by data protection laws, they are not allowed to give out any info about anyone, unless it's to the police.

I had to be very restrained with what I actually wanted to say!

I wish my vet did a small animal only clinic for a few hours once a week so people with small animals could attend knowing there wouldn’t be any dogs or cats (unless an emergency!).

Seems like they were all out today!

First one just mainly annoying - woman sat on bench completely ignoring her dog which was sat right in the middle of the path. Opted to just try to avoid by walking in long grass. It still ran at us getting all up in our space. Not worth getting into so just carried on walking while the owner squeaked it's name and 'treats!'

Second one a man with a pointer and a visla (I think - ginger pointery looking something?) looking pretty big and bouncy so we made very obvious cut across to another path so that we wouldn't come head on with them. Next thing I know the ginger one is bombing up behind us at speed, fairly sure there was a growl/rumble from it, and it got shouted "no!" at a few times before it bogged off again. Again I didn't want to get into it and I think our feelings were made fairly clear anyway!

Next thing we know there's a very loud exchange of expletives coming from the next field over ("come and get your effing dog!" amongst them). Guess what folks? Pointer guy's dog went and harassed someone else, who really did get into it. Did he put them on a lead? No, of course he didn't.

Last one was a young bull something, who I just felt really sorry for. Tied up on a long line to a bench under a tree, attached by it's collar, bouncing around on the end of the line because the large group of people it was supposed to be with had set themselves up just out of it's reach. Picnic and exciting games going on so the poor thing was obviously wound up/excited by that, and being completely ignored by multiple people who could have held it on a lead/played with it/taught it to settle instead of letting it yank itself around by its neck.

I was training 3 of mine in the woods today, so had sat them up and hidden balls around. They were waiting to be sent so super focussed and this elderly woman with a breed of dog that I won’t name as Chiffy gets cross with me (😆) came round the corner. Mine just stared at me. The other dog just pulled her over, whoosh, she let go of the lead (fair enough) and it leapt onto P and F. Penny may have had a few words in its ear. It wasn’t in the least aggressive and by the time even F had a pop at it it was pleased to let me catch it. I helped her up, checked she was ok, and waited until she had gone.
Why do people over dog themselves? If you are going to have a large dog you can’t hold them train it not to launch.

That’s why I have 2 tiny terriers and a small lurcher as I know I’m now not strong enough to hold a big dog if it decided to go. The only time mine get strong on the lead is if they see a cat, not bothered about rabbits, squirrels, deer but a cat really gets them going. I think it’s because we have a local cat who keeps coming into my garden and it sits on the fence teasing them

It's surprising just how much force that even a 7kg JRT can exert on the lead if it launches suddenly and you're not concentrating - thinking of squirrels 🙃.

Our rather substantial lovely neighbour was pulled clean off his feet on the road by his 3 labs in front of OH - and they were just crowding forward curiously.

While I was silently (because who needs the aggro of saying anything) waiting for a large lab to unwrap itself from my bike front wheel its owner said that she should really have the two labs on leads but she didn't because they pull her over.

Back in the vet today, paying my bill when I turn round and say to receptionist that someone has let their dog pee up the post that the disabled door button is fixed to and also then let their dog walkthrough it and trail pee footprints across the floor!

Receptionist was understandably horrified as they couldn’t see it from their desk (it has a high counter).

Like they said, it isn’t the peeing that’s the issue because dogs etc can have accidents but not telling anyone or even making an attempt to clear it up is just rude!

When ours was attacked by a rottie, we didn't know where it lived either (we knew the field it came out of but not who owned it). My husband had to flag a car down to help him. While carrying a 23kg dog. People were just driving on by while it went for them! We ended up door knocking the neighbouring streets to find where it lived, but located it quite quickly in the end. They're such distinctive dogs, people usually know what you are talking about.

We’ve since found out the address, but long story short he’s found out that we’ve been asking people if they know where he lives and he’s not a happy man, which is worrying as I don’t trust him.
Man whose dog was attacked has updated the police with the information.

Then maybe he should keep his dog under control? A&&hole. At the first hint of trouble, call the police. Surely the DDA applies in this case? Big dog coming at you or your dog surely counts?

He had a visit from the police a few months ago when it attacked a collie and cost the owner thousands in vet fees.
Apparently the police gave the dog a ‘good report’ (whatever that means )
He’s a good talker, very sociable, so it wouldn’t surprise me if he can talk people round and convince them it was an accident. He has told people the collie incident happened because the dogs had a fight over a ball. I was chatting to a man last night who had the Rottie lunge at his leg but thankfully it was pulled away before it made contact. Owner said he was ‘playing’.

Not sure what will happen this time. The previous visit didn’t make him keep it on lead.

Bloke sounds like an idiot 🤬 Anybody who has encounters with this dog needs to report it. Did the collie owner not give a statement to offer his side?

Still lots of people looking last minute on local FB in peak holiday season for someone to care for their dogs when they go away.

Anyone good and reliable will long be fully booked for August. It's the refusing to pay silly prices (whatever they are) thing that shows what sort of owner this is.

Having been let down, I am looking for a dog sitter, kennels etc from the 24th August to the 29th, for two big dogs. Either Dog Sitter and Walker, Kennels, Own home stay etc. Will not pay silly prices though, please message if you have availability - thanks in advance
