Talk about irresponsible !!!! I wouldn’t leave any of mine on their own with children even though I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t bite but they are animals and unpredictable and I would never take that chance.. it’s about time it was made more difficult to get a dog , they can be lethal just like a gun or a car in the wrong hands…

We were at Dogfest this weekend and we normally just have to deal with dogs being allowed to be rude but this weekend OH had a run in which could have gone so wrong with a child and irresponsible parents.

OH had Jack, he's 15yo and while very good and tolerant with our nieces and the kids in our flyball club, he was rehomed as the child was rough with him and we're very careful with interactions with children. Someone's child (OH recons around 5yo) crawled towards him and tired to touch him, OH said 'please don't, he is old and doesn't like to be touched' and blocked child. Said child then tried to go round OH and grab Jack!

OH picked him up quickly and the parent just half arsed said 'I've told you not to do that'. I was very impressed OH (who doesn't have the longest fuse) just muttered that kid was going to get bitten one day and walked away. I dread to think what would have happened if it had been Ginny and have no doubt we would have been painted as the bad guys 😔

One lady even had the audacity to comment, “Accidents happen. You shouldn’t be blaming dog owners when they are just allowing their dog to have a run off lead.”
When someone has dared to suggest that perhaps dogs should be called back to owner and put on lead if a horse is in the area and dog is likely to chase, this lady has said “well not everyone can get their dog back, can they?”
Head. Brick wall.
I'd be sending them a link to this and telling them they'd better double check their public liability insurance! https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/dog-owner-sued-5m-after-23957804

The comments got even worse yesterday. The injured lady has broken her collarbone and can’t work for 6 weeks and as she is self employed she now has no income. She’s trying to find the contact details of the owner of the dogs.
Apparently it’s her fault for riding on the beach where people walk dogs.
Then it was how horse riders are disgusting for not picking up horse poo… all the usual stuff, detracting from the actual issue of out of control dogs.

I went out later this morning as I overslept a bit. I always carry water with me and keep in the shade as much as possible. Saw a women in a skimpy summer dress with a very overweight bulldog walking in the sun. It was heaving and really struggling to breathe and the women didn’t seem to be at all worried . I felt mean not offering it some water but I’ve got 3 dogs and mine would have gone short… hope it was ok , I can’t believe anyone would be so stupid , it was just before 9 am and already very warm

Ah well, it was me last night, little dog went ballistic with two XL bully types, on chain leads, one with cropped ears, both of which walked by beautifully in the face of much provocation in the form of a screaming gobshite clamped between my legs, as I apologised profusely.
Last night was a 'ply her with food' night rather than 'stay safe between my legs' night, I learned after two screaming fits.

A mixed bag for us this morning. Big shout out to ball flinger man with actual spatial awareness/consideration who waited for us to pass and then resumed ball flinging in the opposite direction to us. Also the woman who ended the sentence "it's okay..." with the unexpected but much welcomed "...I'll pop his lead on"

Less impressed with the woman who let her cocker spaniel come flying out the boot of her car barking and pelting straight at Ivy. It caught me off guard as we'd not long got out of my car and I'd just picked up after Ivy so instead of my usual controlled "no!" a sort of deranged roaring sound came out of my mouth without my consent. Which shocked me at least as much as it did the spaniel.

Also, very very nearly hit a dog on our way out in the car because it's stupid owner walks it off lead round our neighbourhood. They had just stepped out of the house and it popped out between two parked cars. Thankfully stopped short and I was crawling anyway. I didn't say anything to the owner directly but fairly sure he heard the 'omfg!' when I hit the brakes, and saw my glaring at him as I continued on. Did he then put the lead on?

No prizes here folks...of course he didn't! In fact in then pelted down the end of the street and round the corner. Shame because it seems like a nice dog, did wait for his owner and does recall but it's just such an inappropriate location to let them run loose like that.

Went to the local outlet mall today with my mum. It was really warm, sunny and humid. Far too many dogs being dragged round with their owners. Felt really sorry, in particular, for the large English bulldog lying panting on the floor in Starbucks obviously trying to make the most of the air-conditioning in there.

Heatwave or not I'm pretty sure 'traipsing round the shops' wouldn't be on a dog's list of fun things to do with their human.

Met a woman I didn’t know today with a collie, bloomin thing was racing around and crashed straight into me , bringing me down with a thump.. woman didn’t even apologise !!!!! I am very careful not to fall as having had a brain bleed the doctors have told me I am very likely to get another if I fall. Luckily I didn’t hit my head but have bruised knees and arm😡😡

Apologies if this one has already been discussed, but jeez this is getting scarier by the day.
I know it's not a popular opinion but XL bullies should be leashed nd muzzled in a public place, any found not be be should be removed from the owner and that person banned - there should also be special licences for bull breeds over a certain weight, compulsory insurance and a system in place to check they will be housed in a suitable environment. Any that attack should be destroyed immediatly. NO ONE needs a dog that weights the same as an adult and is capable of killing someone.

No I scrambled up quickly , wouldnt Have wanted her help anyway just wanted her and her dog to go away so I could recover, luckily I carry water for the dogs so we all had a drink while she disappeared, I did feel a bit shaken for a couple of mins but took a few deep breaths and carried on with my walk

Trouble is there are many dogs who are very heavy , we have a St Bernard who is walked locally and if she attacked a person it would be hard to get her off you, she is huge, luckily seems quite docile. But she doesn’t deserve to have a muzzle on

Do we then ban Great Danes/wolfhounds/big gsds? I dare say my three could make a good effort at hurting someone (not that they would) but any dog is capable of biting/hurting someone.

Well, just got back from staying nr Newquay. Dog friendly beaches do not mean your dog/dogs can go and disturb other people. The chap on his own sunbathing and probably asleep in what he thought was a quiet spot a good mile from the popular entrance, did not need 2 springers jumping on him. It would have been good if their owners had apologised or called dogs back, but no, they walked on oblivious.

Public transport that allows dogs does not mean they are welcome to sit on the seats.

Please do take water for your dogs and do they really need a ball flinging all the time, especially when you have decided to set up camp in a populated area.

Lastly, if you are the foreign man who I couldn't understand, you are in a public area and if your GSD is as bad as I think you were saying, even though I was a good 10 yards away when you issued your warning, perhaps put it on a lead at the very least.

I’ve said it on here before but my mum had stitches after a friendly collie jumped up on her. I’m so sorry you had that scare. Pig ignorant woman.

This one was just flying around and took me out by crashing into my legs , if she had been jumping up being friendly I would have been prepared , I wasn’t expecting for her to go through me like I wasn’t there, my knee is quite sore tonight, the joys of being old 😀😀

A dog crashing into you like this could easily result in a broken hip and for some older people that could mean the end of their mobile life or for some unfortunates end of their life full stop. Nothing to do with dogs but my MIL slipped and fell and broke her hip. Died in hospital a few days later. She was 80.

Thanks for that😊. I am 77 and have already had 2 hip replacements and then a revision on one of them so 3 ops in all, luckily I landed on my knee and not my hip

I am 75 and had one hip done so far so in the vulnerable category too. You were so lucky not to land badly. I know only too well how falling over or rather being knocked over can hurt a heck of a lot more than it used to, what happened to bouncing:confused:. That inconsiderate woman with the collie should think herself lucky her dog didn't do you serious injury.
