Irresponsible Owners

All J&T requires is a KS German Shorthaired Pointer! I have one and a couple of others who are the offspring of such dogs; in order to get the Kleemann Sieger title the dog has to pass many tests, one of which is a 'sharpness' test which originally involved the killing of a fox.....this then moved on to the killing of a cat.
 
Ivy is nominating me again because I went to close the car window while her snoot was near it (not through it, I don't open it far enough for her to stick anything out). She did GSOD (Greyhound Scream of Death) right behind my head and scared the crap out of me!

Our new walking spot is really lovely. Busier this evening than Sunday morning but not really any incidents, a lab approaching with hackles up which I wasn't sure what to make of so said 'no' to that one just in case.

I think it's slightly back into annoying Spaniel/Lab/aPoo territory and y'know what? I'm kind of okay with it! Annoying I can handle and still have a mostly enjoyable walk, genuinely scary dogs I've really had enough of.

She won't pay anything towards the bills as she said cats are allowed to free roam.

Tried squirting water but that didn't work. I'm going to try the suggestion of throwing a bucket of water over him and see if that gets him to sod off.

Here, if it isn't humid and the dogs have shade and water, that's an OK temp for gentle ball play. There is no way in heck would I use a Chuck-It though.

And, that poor bulldog. Why the breeder didn't step up and do right <- a Southern term y'all. IMHO, he should be put down. That breed has enough health problems and with the inability to breath easily with a grade 4 murmur he isn't going to have any quality of life. Again, IMHO.

Zenya has chosen our holiday to have her first full shepherd moult! I’m trying to keep on top of the fluff but it’s a struggle without a blaster . I’m walking round with a dog that permanently has tufts hanging off her ! 😳

I must be doing something wrong as I’m getting up at the crack of dawn to take mine out before it gets too hot. At least I know mine are not going to get heatstroke!!!

At 6pm last night it was 25 degrees still and some moron was running a very toadie looking flat faced frenchie in the secure run - it sounded awful, rasping away...
 
We've not formally walked the JRT for nearly a week now. She does come out with me to free range in the fields when the horses are in for breakfast and a snooze, but by 7am I reckon already it's too warm for a proper walk.

She can lounge about most of the rest of the day in the garden where there is lots of shade. Not ideal, but she does feel the heat so it's for the best for now. It was still 22° outside here at nearly 10pm yesterday, and we were too cooked to want to walk, never mind her.

She is getting a bit stir crazy and woofy, though.

I wish people had some sort of common sense. I wonder/hope that that poor dog went to the emergency vet since I can't imagine it not being overheated and under oxygenated.
 
It was 30C here yesterday and my dogs were struggling. Bess was a nightmare last night, on and off the bed, panting etc so I’ve clipped her on a 10blade this morning (that’s very short) and she seems much more comfortable already.
I walked them late last night and first thing in the morning at the shore. We will go late again today.
I’ve had fans on the dogs in the salon today and everyone is having cooler showers and blow drying being kept to a minimum.
 
I’ve just seen two people sitting outside the local cafe enjoying their iced drink and cake while their poor dog is panting away next to them. The dog is sitting on the pavement and there’s no shade at all at this time of day and it doesn’t even have water in reach.

Could you play some games with her in the cool of the house?

I have a Kong ballistic hide and treat and a busy buddy rip'n tug barbell that I put something smelly and tasty in like dried liver, today it was buffalo sticks. I hide them and she has to find them and then work to get the treats out.*

Or you could teach her something new.

* you don't have to buy something, you could use something like a kitchen roll tube and tuck the ends in.

On this note freezing kong with peanut butter is a fun (and cool) way to keep them occupied for ages :)
 
I nearly hit a dog with my car last night. Bully type, on a lead, walking by the road, with all the owner's attention on her phone. Thankfully, I'd had my suspicions so was keeping an eye on it and, when it started into the road, I was able to swerve and avoid it. If I'd been a bit less on the ball, it would have been under my wheels.
 
I am in Slapton Sands for 4 days in campervan. Lots of barky dogs but sorry guys, it's the bigger ones and not the yorkies, jrts, daschunds etc. And my pet hate, a dog not on a lead. Fine if its not a condition of the site, but it is here.

Went to beach. Me and small brown dog were sitting in the sea when a Lab ran over and started rifling through my rucksack. It belonged to a young couple and the chap came and retrieved it and put it on a lead. Shortly after the young woman with him WALKED OVER AND APOLOGISED!!! My faith in human kind was restored. She even asked if he had taken, eaten or damaged anything!! A huge difference from the lab owner who was towed over by the dog to my ring side seat at some HTs a couple of years ago and watched it tucking into my chips, which I was holding at the time. I complained and she said it had only had a few off the top ... 😮😂😂
