Irresponsible Owners

Whilst no one has said anything directly to me, I do think that I am perceived as being somewhat overly cautious and wimpy for not braving waiting the reception area at the vets with the cat in her travel cage.

She’s used to dogs, but no cat is going to want a strange dog bouncing over her in a cage. There is a cat waiting area, but it’s just a corner of a much larger waiting area. I reckon that I’m being responsible and not wimpy by leaving her in the car until we’re called.

Though as I have posted before, recently we both nearly got taken out from behind as I carried her across the car park in her travel cage after we were called in. A large dog which was supposed to e secure in the car in its travel cage burst out (owner had left the car tailgate open 🙄) and hurled itself at us. Just as well that I’m tall and have eyes in my @rse.

I think I’ve posted before about the chap who came into vets reception with a spaniel off lead which made a bee line for my cat in her carrier . She is well used to dogs but she’s 17 with high bp so I’m afraid I told him in no uncertain terms .
 
My oh drives me mad. He once took his wee beardie into the vets with no lead or collar and just had her under his arm. To be fair she just sat on his knee until he was called in but I did tell him my views on it 🙄
 
As I said on Clodagh's beagle thread, there were a couple with two in the waiting room last week (my dog waits in the car and usually gets seen in the car park, weather permitting, as she's a knob. I know she is a knob. I don't expect other people to have to tolerate this). Squeaking turned into belling turned into full on barking. No one could hear themselves think and a lady with a cat was getting very agitated. They had come outside by the time I was driving out. I do wonder whether it was of their own volition, were they instructed to, or did they finally notice everyone's pained facial expressions.

The time before a woman came in with an elderly spaniel with no lead and was just letting it wander over to strange people/dogs.
 
The waiting area at the vet clinic that I use now is horrid. It's tiny and cramped. Fortunately nothing has kicked off when I've been there. Usually it's a quiet cat in a carrier, and a small trembling dog in someone's lap.

One medium sized dog did drag itself (and it's owner) over to us once and got up close to one of my dogs who let out a low growl and the owner finally got the dog under control. Mine know the rules of sitting at my feet in the waiting room. Even my Lab who is always strangely ecstatic to be at the vet 🤣 mostly because treats/food is a possibility, manages to contain herself.

Haven't had to deal with anyone pestering the cat in his carrier, fortunately.

Out last vet had a whole separate room for cats to wait in. And a large area for dogs. That clinic had a great set up!
 
The vet nurse at my vet is a bit slow, i think....

She can't operate the scales, it can varies up to 3kg. It first showed 30kg, then 33kg the next day.....

Last time, we came in, the room was emtpy and she was hoovering the carpet, the hoover was huge, it's about the only thing Nouille my Basset is scared off.

She saw us entering the double door but regardless, started the enormous hoover right on front of us and Nouille got caught in the door, backing away.

She then tried to hold the door for me, still holding the hoover instead of switching it off. Not very bright...

Then, again the scales didn't work properly, luckily the vet is nice.....
 
Last time I was at the vet's, I came across an irresponsible cat owner. I'd taken Liberty in for her vaccinations and we were waiting in the empty waiting room. A woman comes in with her cat in a box, sits down besides me and puts the cat box on the floor. I have to quickly stop Liberty examining this strange new object with an animal inside. The woman looks at me and says "doesn't your dog like cats?" I told her my dog didn't know cats and her cat might not appreciate a large looming predator just outside its cage. At which point, she remembered that her cat doesn't actually get on with dogs...
 
One of the many similar posts on local town FB of ‘does anyone have cctv/dashcam footage’ of a minor prang.

Car pulled out of a car park into the path of an oncoming cyclist who was doing 15mph on an electric bike. The cyclist was thrown off the bike into the road, and the bike was mashed up.

When someone asked for more details, in the reply the cyclist stated:-

“I left that to the police thinking they do that . I was in too much pain and was comforting my dog that was on my back . Fortunately she wasn't hurt🙏as I landed on my hands and knees.”

Cycling with a dog on your back, what could go wrong 😳.

I have seen this a few times and wonder what would happen in the event of a fall. I think I have seen dogs strapped to people's fronts also.

It seems also to be a thing when walking further than the dog can manage. What happens if you were to trip over?
 
I am having re thoughts on whether I can blame this on an irresponsible dog owner.

I saw a trail of trodden in dog poo in one of the middle aisles of Aldi earlier today. I assumed that some poor person had stepped in some dog poo without realising it. I alerted a store assistant.

On reflection, given the lack of any mucky foot prints elsewhere in the store, this might not have been dog poo 😳.
