It's OK, I've seen people write about meeting dogs out and about, not necessarily bull/banned breeds, on or off lead, that looked as if they might have been capable of doing something wrong, but they didn't actually, and apparently that makes their owners irresponsible, even though their own dogs were off the lead/not always in their eyeline 😅
 
Two posts on my local fb community network today about an escaped Shar Pei. Belongs to a house at the end of my road; reportedly aggressive towards other dogs; and is often wandering without owner (or even with owner, allowing it to wander into the road!). I really hope I find it next time (without my dogs with me) as I will bundle it into my car and straight to the dog warden. From the sound of it the alchy owners wouldn’t want to pay for its release.

Eugh, between this one and the bully thing next door, what on earth is going on near me at the moment 😩 makes me feel really uneasy!

Are they the two red setters?

At least one was more down my way near the canal and the gymnastics centre/wedding venue when last seen this morning, but the owner was ‘allegedly’ on his way to catch them up. The dogs are very scared and have no collars ☹️. Locals were trying to catch them/it but no joy.

Not sure if owner has recaptured either of them.

*UPDATE* Owner is now aware, thankyou to everyone who shared.
Cat found dead just now next to my car . My dad and neighbour had seen a pit bull like dog attacking the cat earlier this morning. Dog off the lead. longish haired tabby cat, Black and brown stripes very tame cat, known very well around the area. i am going to take to vets4pets, pets at home Please share post to notify owner asap
 
Blasted brown collie had a pop at my two being lead walked by my OH. I saw it later and was very restrained, didn’t tell the owner to muzzle the little git. It’s a busy area, lots of dogs are leadwalked. At least one owner reels his dog in to go past others and tells owners he isn’t keen on dogs, surely the sensible thing to do? If someone hauls theirs in, I do the same. Mine are overly keen to say hello but I always check from a distance if we’re on the street.

Still loose in the village, been gone 24 hours. Owner is not on Facebook.

Dog warden will only collect them if someone has picked them up, will not come out to help look for them, which is probably fair enough. Lots of sightings, but the dogs are running scared.

Both dogs are Red Setters and are called Orla and Edmund. According to Tony (owner) they may respond to their names being called. The dogs have been out for 24 hrs and have come from *****.

Yes that them. Still out. Poor dogs. Does sound as though someone has the dog in caught in there sight at the moment . Hoping they can get close enough

When I last looked it seemed as if the owner wasn't being particularly pro active in his search, eg calling in experts.

ETS : Looks like they've both been caught, lets hope the owner is a bit more careful with them in future.

Wouldn't you think if his dogs had escaped from his property once, never mind twice, that he would be doing something to make sure they didn't escape a third time.

The problem is , they have been out more than that. Hes frequently around the lanes looking for them. They where out last week, then friday when i returned one, then sunday when another chap found one and bundled him up in the car and took him back, then Monday night out until today.
This is the first time its been all over social media. But owner not on that, so whether it will change things who knows
 
Nah, there’s a husky that gets out here regularly because she leaves a window open for him, which he then pushes and gets out. I think every area has a regular get outer. There’s another that’s been out twice in two weeks took over a week to catch the first time 🙄. The beagle I think prob got rehomed finally after everyone was fed up returning it
 
The villagers and other members of the public seem to have been a lot more worried about the setters and pro active in trying to catch them than the owner has, haven't they 😬.

I wonder if the lame one (reported as lame on many sightings) will be taken to a vet. And whether the owner will make sure that they can’t escape again.
 
Stupid woman this morning, I'm putting mine back in the car at a park area opposite the beach, next thing a huge golden retriver races across the road which is quite busy as rushes upto them no owner in sight - I shoo it off, it's not aggressive just very bouncy and annoying and I'm contemplating shoving it on a lead and taking it to the vets when a silly woman appears in running gear holding a lead - she doesn't head over to grab her dog just whistles at it, when I said "you might want to put it on a lead it's just run across the road" she replied It's ok it's not that busy yet....OMG you can't teach stupid can you??
 
I talked to my cousin today., she has a 9 months old English cocker bitch, first dog.

She told me that she was great and walked her for 5-6km every day !

Saying that for a puppy, she slept a lot, being very quiet at home.

It seems a lot to me for such a young dog ?

Apparently, the breeder told her not to walk up hill for a long distance and no stairs but otherwise no recommendations.

I told her to check with the breeder as the young bitch is very keen but it seems too much.

I don't know much about puppies myself.
 
It's not terrible for a breed like a cocker.

It's more about the intensity/strain on developing joints and muscle and repetition on hard surfaces than actual time, a bimble round the fields vs a route march on tarmac, and it's more important to take it slowly with large, weight-bearing breeds or types.

I did pretty much that with my cocker at that age, he's 9 now and sound as a pound. It's jumping I avoid until they are over a year old
 
Well, I nearly did a kidnap this morning.

Stopped at the shop this morning, lashing rain and absolutely freezing, when I saw some sort of lab cross sitting outside with a lead on and shivering, but not tied to anything. I asked the lady in the shop did she know who owned it and she said she didn't and there hadn't been any customers other than regulars over the last while. So I get my coffee and sit in my car and something tells me to hang on and wait and see if someone turns up for this dog, as I was worried it was lost or abandoned.

It doesn't look like its going anywhere just cold and miserable sitting, waiting.

After a few minutes I get back out and see if I can get a read on temperament/spy a tag/dogs general receptiveness to being approached. Dog starts walking a bit closer to me when suddenly a woman appears demanding to know what I'm doing with her dog.

Readers, she'd been on the sunbed in the salon a few doors up from the shop and left her dog sitting outside, out of sight, unsecured, in baltic rain. Dog was absolutely soaked through.

I might have called her a moron.I wish I had kidnapped it and took it to have it's chip read to inconvenience her but the tw@t probably hasn't even got one.

I know I always say this but I genuinely wonder if people even like their dogs sometimes.

So it's alright for her to irradiate herself, but the dog can freeze....
 
We have been in London today. The tubes were very crowded. Jammed in one carriage was a skinny XL bully held by a man who seemed a little the worse for wear (was sitting slumped on the floor). Now we were in our city best but obviously still smelt of dog. It pulled over to us and sniffed our legs studiously. The rest of the carriage sort of did this 😳😳😳😳😳. OH said ‘I hope no one stands on its paw while it’s sniffing me’.
No harm done but I’m glad we are not nervous around dogs as we’d have been totally petrified.
