IS THIS THE WORST HORSE OWNER CAN YOU TOP THIS ???

I found your post difficult to understand.

I'm not really sure what you expect as a response to this post?

A big pat on the back for your sister for looking after this horse?
To be told the owner shouldn't have a horse?

Or be commended for loving horses yourself?

I'm confused.

money still going into account for horse, anything he needs or has to have paid for,

But who is the money going to then?

Oh get over yourself.

This post was a whine about an irresponsible and absent horse owner whose behaviour is being allowed to continue by people who are happily looking after it for free.

Either do it with good grace and don't complain, or don't do it and get the yard owner to sort out the owner for some part livery.

Or would you be happier to continue congratulating yourselves and your friends and family on how you are giving up your time for somebody else's horse?

Lots of people on this forum and elsewhere give up their time to help horses in many different circumstances, most of them do it discreetly.

I don't really get the point of this post. Your sister seems to have taken over the care of this horse in a semi-official share. If she is still happy to do this why not get an agreement in writing with the owner? This will make things clearer for everyone. If she no longer wants to do this, inform the owner you can no longer help out and leave her to her own devices. It is her horse afterall. If she fails to look after him, the YO should deal with it.

i need a lie down...

I recently saw a post form a lady who was sick of putting posts on this site and getting abuse for no reason and has appologise for having to leave the site . Think I may follow suit. I have better things to do .

God can't believe I wasted 5 minutes of my life reading that. If the people caring for the horse stopped acting like mugs then the owner would stop treating them like mugs.

Sorry, maybe I just cant see the answer, but I ask again, who is the money being paid to? Who goes out and buys this horses feed, hay, straw etc. Surely there is an arrangement of care there?

Wow.
What fantastic people you and your sister are, OP!
And to think that all you are getting out of the deal is a free horse to ride, all bills paid.
And ALL BECAUSE OF THE LOVE YOU HAVE FOR THE MAJESTIC MOST BEAUTIFUL CREATURE THE HORSE.
Amazing.

if the owner is putting money into an account every month cant you just ask he to put the extra in to pay for the full livery service and get the yard to do it?
if your siuster wants to do it then i think shes og ta good deal- a horse that she gets to do whatever she wants with for free!

I think I get the point of the post, and understand that sometimes it is not laziness that leads to punctuation problems. I'd like to give the OP a break about that really.
I am sure if people find it hard to read then it wasn't intentional!

WRT the issue; Some people do own horses that they rarely ride and that is their own choice (unless the horse clearly needs ridden exercise).

Personally I would not feel happy seeing a horse that is my resposibility just occasionally. I would want to see that all it's needs were being catered for. I think it is taking advantage to get you guys to manage full livery of the horse when it is not being paid for, and presumably wasn't agreed with the owner.

Did the owner never ask you to do it on full livery? It's a tough one because my instinct is to say I'd do it DIY only and she'd have to sort it out, but maybe she wouldn't get off her arse to organise things. You need to speak to her and decide wot to do, unless you fancy having a horse which is dependent on you for an indeterminate period which is not your own. I'd speak to the owner, even if I had to go and find her.

someone needs to speak to the owner, as she should really be paying someone to do the work... or, she should officially 'loan' the horse to your sister (perhaps with the agreement she can ride every now and then) . the way things are at the moment is so grey, that no one really knows what's happening.

what happens if the horse gets seriously injured whilst your sister is riding? who is responsible for the vet's fees? that's why you need to have some sort of an official agreement with the owner.

as you guys are doing so much already, it seems to be in her interest to let you carry on doing it and either paying you, or letting your sister loan the horse.

have you tried speaking to her?

I think you may have misundertood the post so I think i may take it off as this is getting rediculous .

[/ QUOTE ] I think the reason so many people have failed to understand your post (including me) is because it really is not very clear to read at all, due to the lack of punctuation, paragraphs etc., which is the point Mother_Hen was trying to make. When communicating on forums we usually only have the written word to go on, so you need to take a bit of care with writing your posts so people can read them easily and understand the points you are trying to make.

If you take some of the advice on board then I think you will get a lot more out of the forum.

Sounds like the owner has never been told it's a DIY yard? Has she ever mentioned livery services?

If she doesn't know much about horses and the horse world (as it sounds) and if you and your sister have always cared for the horse, how is she to know any different?

Why can't you use punctuation?

[/ QUOTE ]
Ditto. I can't read this, but from what I do grasp, it's her horse, she is perfectly within her rights to see it as often or little as she wishes.

that's a really good point! perhaps she doesn't know what a livery yard is. perhaps she thinks all yards are full livery and that's what she's paying for? x

Lots of old grumps on the forum tonight. I understand your post completely. Maybe some of the old grumps need to put their specs on to enable them to read a script without punctuation?

I think you and your sister need to have a chat with the owner. Firstly, speak to the yard owner and ask them to arrange a time you can all meet to sort this appalling situation out. This horses owner needs a reality check and sharpish. I would be seriously peeved if another livery expected me to care for their horse without some sort of recompense.

I do not usually get involved in posts that end up in an argument but......... Really, do you really think that? I agree, to a point, if it is a full time livery, but on a DIY, it surely is your responsibility to visit your horse at least daily, unless, of course, you have made prior arrangments.

OP, I do get your point, and feel for you, but you really do need to talk to YO or indeed the owner.

Could you report her to someone like WHW, RSPCA for neglect as she's not taking care of her own horse - if it weren't being looked after by you it would probably be dead??!!

Why would someone need to lie down because of the lack of puntuation ?

Or could that be something to do with acupuncture???

Lol agreed.
Ofcourse when things look neat they are easier to read, but its no biggy, in the grand scheme of life for gods sake, it really is not a massive deal now is it.
Anyway, I agree, you need to speak to this lady and sort this out

Would anyone like to condense the OP's post? It rather looks like someone's puked letter and words onto a page
blush.gif

From what others have said - the owner bought horse, abandoned it at a DIY yard but it's being looked after by the OP's sister (or poss sister in law) and coughs up money for everything and anything the horse needs?

Sounds like a lucky horse. I aquired a horses like that and had her for years. I got to do whatever I wanted, owner could come and ride whenever she wanted and the horse got the care and attention and everything she could possibly ever need. Pat on back to all of us

There is a lady who keeps her horses at my yard and she hasn't been up since November! The horses are getting all of their basic care but no extra attention.

People shouldn't have horses if they aren't prepared to spend time with them!
