about 20 years for my old Intermediate boy (chestnut far right of siggy), lost him to colic (the only time he had it in his entire life), was totally devastated as he was still so bright and happy and i wanted to have him around forever.

Had my oldie until last year, lucky enough to own her for 19 years, bought her as a 10 year old. Have another pony who has now been with me for 14 years......I m not too good at selling them on.....

i hate selling had to sell previously due to cash and had to put the kids first, now they are all grown up and am able to earn enough to keep this one , have toyed with the idea of buying and selling but OH says he knows i wont be able to sell on and he is right x

Ive owned horses for 23 years, the longest one ive owned i still have and ive owned him for 18 years. Another ive owned all his life and hes 12.

eta- i bought the 12 yo as a foal with his mum, just a few weeks old. I had planned to sell him on but that has never and will never happen!

19 years, my retired dun mare Juno. Never part with her. She is 23 this year.
Had Meg 9.5 years, but known her since her birth. She will be 14 in April.

My parents had one of their horses for 24 years - if you exclude the 3 years he was with friends as we lived in Toronto for my dad's job then 21 years.

We had a fab pony for my sister and I who we had for 18 years, but he was only on loan to us, and the folk who really owned him bought him as a yearling, and he died aged 46!

5yrs this year, my first horse and i wouldn't swap him for the world i really don't want him to go but i am having to prepare myself mentally that he won't be around forever

i have had my other horse 2 yrs this year so not doing badly either when she wasn't suppose to be here for 6 months let alone 2 yrs

iv had my 1st pony for almost 9yrs now.

a work collegue had hers for 34yrs. Bought him as a 6mth foal & sadly had to have him pts from colic a couple of yrs ago.

My very good friend (and very occasional poster on here) surely must qualify for this.

I last saw my friend when she was 12 yrs old and only just recently got back in touch with her - she is now 39 and still owns the same pony! Remarkable.

I would love to put up a picture of her pony from when I visited her last year - but will just go off and ask her first

I've had my mare 15 years this year *bay in siggy* she bred me a wonderful foal last year which I am forever grateful for....so her legacy will live on.

I've had Lucy for 12 years. I bought her when she was 8 to bring on and sell. It's turned into a bit of a family joke now

12 years dosn't seem like long and i wish she would live forever but sadly i have been reminded that she won't
