Ludo has gone

I was so sorry to read your post. Ludo was one of my favourite HHO's horses! They leave such big holes in our hearts. You will have done the right thing, I have always respected your horsey wisdom and judgement. Thinking of you xxx

So incredibly sorry to see this post & sending big virtual hugs. You can be assured that he is now at peace. Such a hard but brave and selfless decision.

RIP Ludo x

Sorry to hear of your loss ycbm, Ludo was certainly a heart-melter. Despite the pain of loss, i’ve found what remains is the love felt, giving us strength to, one day, bravely love again. Our hearts are stronger than we realise, while the pain of grief eclipses that love. Beyond the grief love remains 💜
Big hug X

I am so sorry for you and Ludo. I have followed your posts for years and your love and knowledge of horses has always been evident. Ludo was very lucky to be yours.

I am so sorry. There are things in life that just cannot be fixed and we have to be brave and selfless as you have been.

I lost my homebred 6 year old who was supposed to take me into old age from EGS and I still miss him after more than 20 years.

I was told many years ago that
You do the best you can for your horses while they live and if the end time comes that is still doing your best.

No one could fail to see how hard you tried to help Ludo but sometimes it is not meant to be.

Remember that so many of us whether we have experienced a similar loss or not are sending
love and support.

I'm so sorry that your journey with Ludo ended this way. You tried everything for him.

I also think that you are right to squash any attempted comments as to why he could not be comfortably retired, as sadly there are always a few who seem to pop up on PTS threads opining that the owner has not tried hard enough, or is doing it for their own convenience.

Blessed be the horse whose owner puts their horse's needs before their own.

Really sorry to hear this ycbm. I can understand why you had to make the decision... fate is an absolute bitch sometimes.

So sorry for you're loss, I don't see how anyone could criticise someone who tried to give their horse a happy retirement but then made the tough and right decision when it was proved that it wouldn't work. Sending hugs x

I'm so sorry for your loss.
I'm so sorry to read that on top of your grief, you feel worry about being judged. Already before I read that, I was planning to say that Life shouldn't only be not dying, it should be about quality of life.

It's tragic that Ludo couldn't enjoy being a horse without something in his body getting injured, but that's no life, so you did what was best for him. No horse could wish for more.

{{{{{{Hugs}}}}}}

RIP Ludo

So sorry ycbm. You went above and beyond for him, and ensured his happiness and comfort until the end. How many horses are afforded that, he was lucky to have you. (And of course, you lucky to know him.) Take care of yourself xx
