What's everyone up to this weekend?

We have a lesson this afternoon, hoping trainer can see the development in the last couple of weeks :)

that's about it. Need some good weather so OH can do the lorry welding before it gets plated but the forecast looks unpromising! ughhhhh.

Have fun all.

Sky is out for his first BD Elementary ,doing one novice one elementary he’s had a period of quite intensive training for him he getting a three day mini break next week because I think he’s a bit jaded then we are going to work in some jumping and galloping now the grounds better .
Blue is working to wards his first prelims ( unaffiliated) the next weekend , so been it’s been a case of working on the canter transition which not really exist in any form that a judge would recognise when he arrived .
The canter itself needs work but I am proceeding on the basis that you have to get into canter first .

Yay...I can actually join in!

Just finished doing some trailer loading practice with Bo. I must say that I'm really enjoying having a young pony who has never had any bad experiences. He just takes it all in his stride.

Planning some more practice tomorrow in readiness for our very first outing on Sunday! We are off to our local equestrian centre (less than 10 minutes away) for a TREC obstacle training day.

I'm really looking forward to it, and we are in the first group so shouldn't be too busy. ?

Had a lesson last night which was great!! Havked out this morning. Schooling tomorrow then a bath for the ridden one as we may attempt a ridden ROR class on Sunday if it doesn't interfere with our dressage time. Weather looking pants though!! Have fun with your nags every one xx

Hacked this morning, and then went for my first covid jab - currently got an achy arm which happened almost straight away. Hoping for minimal side effects though.
Got some bits to do Saturday- eye test for me, trip to naylors for feed in the morning clipping in the afternoon for Charlie, and hopefully a ride in some form Friday and or Saturday.
Sunday we have clear round arena eventing at kelsall, entered the 80 and 90 so hopefully no getting stuck on any sheep feeders this week but at least I should have pics if we do.

I have a polework outing and a lesson booked (possibly two).

I had hoped to take Fleur as I was planning on putting her up for sale this week but she decided to put her leg through the fence tarting with the boys yesterday morning so we’re now waiting for the swelling to come down enough to scan her sdft. ?‍♀️

Haven’t decided who to take to polework in her place just yet.

Blue has a lesson with Charlie Hutton next week so hoping I’ll have my score sheet from last weekends outing to show him and then I’m hoping to get Raz booked in for some test riding with Scott McLellan before our first outing at the beginning of next month.?? Must do my entries before i forget and miss the deadline…

We have our lovely 2 yo ID filly leave us tomorrow, shes off down south. We will be sad to see her go, but shes massive. My daughter bought her ( shes 5ft4) and the filly is already around 16.1 with plenty of growing still to do. So its the right decision for them both as she would be over horsed in the future.
Other than that just hacking i think, but i would love to get out around a farm ride/delamere if i could squeeze it in.

Good luck to those competing

M is still off after the injury he got last week. It is looking really good though. The vet did a fantastic job pulling the skin back to where it should be and bandaged it well to keep it in place and it has knitted together. A bit of hair loss and still a bit of healing to do but really pleased with progress so far.

Somehow during the first few days where he was on box rest he whacked his hip and left himself a bald patch and then a day later grazed his face above his eye. Self destruct or what. Neither is causing him too much bother but still.... box rest doesnt suit him, hes on the hard standing now.

Anyway - Its our anniversary this weekend so off to do a bit of my other love and horsepower of a different kind. We are going on a supercar track day, im booked in for a porsche 911 and a Ferrari 458 Spider - exciting :D

Well we are NOT at Llany for Katie's 3rd BE90. Sniff sniff. She is very grumpy.

Physio for Toby tonight. I have been pootling along with his rehab for weeks and have no clue how its going. How can you tell? As he's not lame anyway and is already evenly and fairly well muscled?? Hopefully the physio can let me know. The work feels so simple it is hard to believe it is really doing anything.....

Poor Katie ? horrid weather for it though, and it is early in the season still.

I mostly noticed Charlie seemed more powerful in his work when I was doing the rehab. My physio certainly noticed a difference and after the most recent session he's been the best he's ever been getting over the styles in our country park - they really are awkward. Another thing I did was take pics now and again for comparison purposes

We had a lesson yesterday with our regular trainer - it's the first time we have been to her since our stay at AM dressage and she was really pleased with how much more positively I was riding. I always think it takes a while to really start to gel with a new horse, and that only really happens by experiencing things together. Then today we had a lesson with Tom Graham in a new indoor school (for Maddie). I was very happy with how she went as she hadn't been in many indoors before I got her, and shut down the first few times I rode her in one. There were boards out as well, which was good practice as I am definitely very ring rusty. Tom was very complimentary about our progress since last month, and finally got to see her canter which he thought was super. (The previous time he saw us was the first time I had taken her somewhere she hadn't been before, and I was frankly a bag of nerves as I had absolutely no idea how she would react.) He said she was the type of horse he would like his mother to have, so he doesn't have to keep looking out the window to make sure she is still on top!! :D

Tomorrow will be a day off, Saturday I will probably do some in-hand stuff, and I'm tempted to do arena hire on Sunday as the weather is looking dire again. :(

Hope everyone has fun whatever they are up to! :) x

A picture of her ladyship as she is so pretty, at least in my eyes.....

Played around in the school today and found a more passage like trot that I never knew existed. Canter half pass was good and we did one zig and zag ? so very little beginnings.

Tomorrow he gets a final check up to see that everything is healed from his tooth extraction. Saturday a lesson and Sunday probably free lunging or walking with the dog and OH if the weather is good.

Still no competitions for amateurs, only for pros.

Best of luck to those of you out competing!

Not much as the ginger one is off games... Hopefully only short term though. Farrier came and had a look at the foot this avo and found a bruise, so this is likely to be the cause of him being a bit off. Fingers crossed he will be better soon so we can carry on from where we left off, as it was v exciting how well he was going!

Llanymynech novice eventing with the older horse on Sunday. Could be rather soggy. Hope it runs though as he's usually a horse that enjoys the softer ground. Both he and the 4yo have a dressage lesson on the Saturday and I'm planning to do a touch of gridwork with them both tonight, between showers!

Cue hysterical laughter.... Kira The Outrageous lived up to her moniker today in our lesson.... circumstances were against me today as stupid temporary traffic lights just outside the gate were stuck on red and therefore my 20 min journey turned into nearly an hour. arrived with just enough time to throw tack at Kira and leg it to the arena. She massively picked up on my stress and the next 15 minutes were mainly spent waving her front legs around before finally charging off in fury o_O:oops:

By the time she had done 10 mins of speedy laps she was feeling more amiable and my anxiety about being late was a distant memory, haha.

I wanted to look at the canter piris today, so we did - she's better in canter on a dodgy day anyway. she topples towards her left shoulder making the left piri difficult to get sitting, and the right one tends to increase in size. so today we did a bit of aid-sharpening, touching her with the spur at her elbow in the left piri to encourage her to remain upright, and then behind the girth in the right one to tune up the response to stepping to the right rather than pushing out left. finished with smiles and pats... and really really hoping the next horse is a bit more straightforward!

I’ve got a cross country lesson tomorrow and I’m half nervous and half excited. We’ve not done any cross country on grass since Eland in august last year so it’ll be very exciting. Probably not going to jump anything big, just work on control between fences. Although FF has a pair of gun canisters that I love jumping so hopefully get to jump them on him again. Desperately hoping the weather holds up for the hour or so that we’re out there.

Other than that, he’s going to have a quiet weekend and maybe hack on Sunday.

Cough. Seeing a horse on Saturday. Miles away and expensive but I’m getting giddy in this bonkers market. Promising myself it’s the only one I’ll see and then (if it’s not right) I’ll give it a miss for a while and just have fun with finnegan. Hah, what a load of tosh.

Enjoyed watching goresbridge online sale this week and avoided the temptation to buy anything unseen. Pretty decent prices and no bargains.

On Monday and Tuesday I have my amazing surprise birthday present of pony club camp which my lovely OH has organised. Ros Canter coming to keysoe to do a mini ode clinic thing for 3 of us, plus lunch with a few other friends too. Then we head back home for a night away at a hotel with dinner, not with Ros haha, followed by hacking out in the chilterns on Tuesday. Still stunned about the whole thing but v v excited.

Thanks RB, am I right you're liveried on there? My owner will be there too so we should be ok but I'll let you know my times even if we just get to say hi that would be cool.
I'm a bit concerned that it's on grass after the rain we've had, but I know their ground is generally good - nice positive round ready for somerford next weekend I hope
