I feel bad for posting on here when some folks aren’t having a great time right now. Sorry about your horse DC.

Had the most amazing two days away for my surprise birthday camp. Cannot describe how lovely it was to spend time with horses, friends and the super star Ros Canter. She was so lovely, stayed with us the whole time, happy to chat and share stories and advice, didn’t make me feel like an idiot for jumping baby fences, and gave great advice to each of us. She helped make it a really special event.

We had a day camp with Ros at Keysoe. There were a few dramas that I wasn’t aware of - the caterer had quit the week before, the kitchen and cafe had been dismantled, they didn’t have the xc jumps out and the place was a building site. My friend had ordered the cake to be delivered to Milton Keynes xc so had to do a last minute dash to collect it. Plus I spent 30 mins getting out of the road junction so was late arriving. But it all came together in the end. Finnegan was on great form, we did some bigger bolder (for us) jumps and he worked beautifully in the flatwork. Could not have asked for more.

We then had a quieter day hacking in the gorgeous chiltern countryside on Tuesday. There was lots of fun, laughter, cake, bubbly, and delicious food in the meantime. With hardly any rain despite the terrible weather forecast and moody skies! I feel very blessed and cant stop grinning.

Great report Bernster - sometimes the days that don't go quite to plan usually end up being the best.

Only update I have is I finally received an reply re my lack of lessons (bear in mind these are reserved slots every week) - basically got told coach is either unavailable/off. Also failed to answer my question re one date where they're down to teach me and something else at same time... Not entirely sure what to do as if you get even remotely pissy you get the 'like it or lump it, someone else will pay' response.

Was there a change of location for the camp or just a wrong location for the cake! What a lovely thing for your birthday.

Wrong location! She had the wrong venue in mind - she was riding too so had to whizz over to get it but she and the cake arrived at the same time as me, as I’d been delayed too with the traffic!
