It is a shame for people to have sensible husbands. ?

That's why I don't have one, it simplifies the process:
Do I want another dog/horse/whatever and can I afford it? > Yes > go out and buy dog/horse/whatever :D

And there's no one at home to ask how much I paid/why I needed another one/that's not the one they'd have picked/etc!

Also, no husband = more room and time for animals ;)

ETA I am no way advocating that someone on this thread gets divorced just so they can offer the lab a home, although that's always an option... ?

I have the opposite issue with my husband to be fair and I find myself being the sensible one often. I let my guard down for five minutes in February and he was driving halfway down the country to pick up a HHO dog. ?

He's currently being very sensible about ponies though but he wouldn't be if I found a free one. ?

And no, I'm not showing him the labrador! I am enjoying having a pocket-sized Henry dog and do not want anything bigger now.

Excellent move Mrs M, bravo :D

I am a spaniel and bitch person really, and since I lost my last bitch last year I am not living in a situation that would be great for a dog (very long working days out of the house 6-7 days a week, and I don't have any friends or relatives in the area who could help out) so unfortunately am having to delay getting the next ones (I usually have two). I am hoping to move house at some point next year depending on what the housing market looks like, with the aim of finding somewhere with a bigger garden and no noisy neighbours so I can go back to WFH for a decent chunk of the week.

He looks a lovely sort though, and I am desperately missing having a dog so could probably be tempted if my set up was suitable! I am envious of the people on here with lots of dogs, I have found it very odd to have no animals in the house.

I can understand her wanting to re-coup some money, but surely the right home is what’s important? I’m not sure I’d want money for mine if I had to re-home.

I think she needs it to get a more suited companion. They know where I am if things change their end.

I gave Pep away and had spent a lot of money on her. If you fail a dog ( by overhorsing yourself or whatever) you owe it to them to make them happy.

I'm of the same view, and not just because I caved, but she's not rich and it was a lot of money to her. I'll be here if things change.

I'm very disappointed in the owner for not putting the dog's needs first. He would have had a fantastic life with you, MrsM.

He'd have had a hoot that's for sure.

Does mean I might be ready to looksee for a friend to curl up in the space my GSD left in my life, though the tears are coming as I type so who knows. Maybe I'll just wait, see what comes around that needs a slightly bonkers but very loved home.
