Pony Squishers Not-So-Anonymous - show yourselves!

SSG- She's obviously jealous, I know I would love to do side saddle, I wouldn't even know how to get on it lol.
I bet she cant ride in a normal saddle

psst! sometimes horses put their ears back because they are listening to the rider. just thought you might like to know.

Sidesaddlegirl - My mare is like your Arab. Fine little danity thing yet I am the only person that she goes well for and I am fat.
It makes me laugh when people say "Oh you are too big for your pony/horse"..
Don't you think the horse would tell you if you were too heavy? Like not moving?
wink.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

Oh dear, so you think that you ( or other people ) would not be too heavy for any horse or pony so long as they can move when you are on top.
frown.gif

Im glad you can laugh when people tell you that you are too big for your horse/pony. Its really quite funny

This thread has cheered me up no end, as it appears that 12 stone is the new 8 stone - hooray, I can pack up going to Slimming World and remain chunky!

Squishing photo below! Hmm, just realised his legs are sinking into the ground from my excessive weight - sorry Harley!

As said before I laugh because I know I am not too heavy. My mare has been checked and has always been fine. She has never struggled with my weight or shown any signs of soreness etc.
The experts that have seen my horse agree

Sen the Arab on the other hand, was just being Sen ther Arab. No matter who gets on her back, she was always a mardy mare. I was the only one who she went well for though so my riding and my weight must not be so bad!

Arabs can carry more weight than other ponies of their size though due to their short coupled back and well sprung rib cage. This is why they excell at long distance endurance riding, this is what they were bred for, carry men in the desert. When I had Senara in tip top condition, her muscles rippled and she was so forward going and had an excellent cool down and heart rate.

I love Arabs!

She was a picture that day. We were riding in a procession and there were all unfamiliar horses around up (some of which were acting up) plus paired up with the fact, the parade was running an hour late, did not make for a happy mare!

Just want to point out my thoughts on this as I think I'm one of the people you're all getting annoyed with.

I said earlier to the girl who was asking about the loan horse that I'd get a rider under 11 stone (I think!), but that is what I would do!!! My horse could probably carry 16 stone + but I wouldn't want someone that big riding him. But it's my horse and my choice, the same as you can do what you want with your horses.
smile.gif

Not people who have posted on here, you all look fine, but you do see people who are way too big for their horses. It pisses me off TBH!!

Yep, and sometimes they put their ears forwards and sideways too

Starbucks - just wanted to clarify that the thread was not started with any particular person in mind - no one had got my goat, so to speak - I was just chuckling inwardly about the direction some of the discussion in Ischa's thread had gone, so decided to make a new post. So no axe to grind with anyone, I just thought it might be a giggle
grin.gif

Yea, I know.

I can see what someone meant earlier when they said that some people over estimate what certain weights are (me!) - I would have thought you were about 10 1/2!!! Also think you'd look a bit like a pee on a drum on a bigger horse too...
tongue.gif

Starbucks, I am in the same boat as MizElz in so far as I would look tiny on a bigger horse. Infact I ride a 17.2hh and a 16hh (My own mare is 15.2hh) and I feel small on the 16hh but I can cope, however on the 17.2hh I feel completely out horsed

Thank you! For what it's worth, the doctor said the same thing to me - he wouldnt believe me when I said I was 13st until he weighed me and saw for himself

I am a Size 12, but at the end of the day 13st is too heavy (I am clinically obese!!!), regardless of how I look, and I would dearly love to lose some weight if I can....and I'm also sane enough to know that although Ellie does not in the slightest struggle with me now, if I WERE lighter, it would surely be even nice for her....
tongue.gif

At 5'2, I feel hopeless on a big horse
blush.gif
My instructor put me up on his lovely 16.2 Hanoverian - not huge, but certainly bigger than Elz - and I was way out of my depth! Out of choice, I would never want anything more than 16hh, and always would go for Ellie's type of build

I think some people are just heavier than others. I think I should be heavier. My friend is quite a lot thinner than me and shorter but weighs the same. I think BMI should be taken with a pinch of salt.
