We hardly count: 14.1 carrying 9st, 5'6"...wouldn't have hesitated to get on him back when I weighed 11st, though.

Something I was told as an RDA instructor was that a good, balanced rider is easier for the horse to carry than a lighter, unbalanced rider.
So you can squish your ponies, just so long as you sit upright when you do it - no leaning, ok?

Oh perleease. Lighten up, FFS. Can you see a single horse on this thread who's welfare is being compromised? If you can, please point it out to me, because I can't.
The point of the thread is the right to reply of people who are sick of certain posters thinking that we're so obese we should be locked in a dark room with a cover over us just because we weigh more than ten stone. Actually, there are hundreds of threads on HHO I don't see the point of, but guess what? I don't bother to read them. A radical concept, I know.
Back OT, I'm 5'4" and hover round the 12 stone mark (for now!) and my girl's a 15.1hh Connie X.

Excuse me, but why are some of the overweight people on here proud of "squishing" their horses/ponies? Tall people on ponies don't really bother me, but I really can't abide obviously overweight people on fine and dainty horses, its unnecessary and should be avoided. I really don't see the point of this thread to be honest.

I was agreeing with what was said and the photos I have seen so far on this thread however, I do think sometimes people on here are too "tounge in cheek" - if a novicy person was reading this they may well feel its ok to sit 15 stone on a 12,2 and laugh about it.
I feel everyone needs to think about the people who come and look on here for advice . If a thread is started " as a laugh and tounge in cheek" it maybe would be better if it were made more obvious

It is obvious that this post is a bit of fun to prove that people over a size 8 are still capable of riding horses WITH NO ILL EFFECTS TO THE HORSE. Singling out individuals and making nasty remarks is petty.

Shocking my OH 5'6'' and 12 stone rode my 15hh cob today and cant say my horse noticed atall still went full pelt gallop through the woods.
And being men I live with they asked how 15hh chargers coped in medievel (sp) times with big knights and armour.
