I think we need a thread where we can post about our proud dog owner moments as a sort of balance for all the times we come on here asking for help or complaining about irresponsible owners.

My Monster has not always been the easiest dog (though definitely not the most complicated either), but today I am proud of him because he didn't eat my chickens! The chickens and the dog normally time share the garden, chickens in / dog out or vise versa but I have limited time on my lunch break so thought it would be good if they could all cohabit for short periods of time. I put Monster's lead on and left it trailing on the floor and grabbed some dog treats and took him out into the garden. He was so well behaved! He sat and waited while I sorted some stuff out and looked but didn't chase. The chickens kept their distance, but didn't appear panicked by him. I managed to leave Monster out of my sight / back turned with no issues.
It probably helps that he thinks that chickens bite: once, when he tried to chase my sister's chickens he gave himself a nasty wedgie on the long line. And they've all seen each other plenty of times though the chicken run fence or with me actually holding Monster's lead. I'm not trusting them all alone anytime soon (ever!) but I'm still so proud of my dog.

Please feel free to add your own proud dog owner moments (I'm sure there are plenty with all the amazing dogs I read about on here)

I'm proud of Fizz every time we do a therapy dog visit, she just amazes me.

Ginny has come on massively since she came home and again, every time she approaches someone she doesn't know for a chin scratch I'm so incredibly proud.

Dobby at Dogfest this year really blew me away. He's still on a short line but we did a full disc routine, sometimes twice a day over 2 days, with no zoomies and really listening to me 🥰

Jack, I'm so beyond proud that he trusts me to introduce him to kind children considering what he experienced and he's so gentle with them. He's changed so much in the nearly 12 months we've had him and at nearly 16yo he's going from strength to strength.

Fenrir is coming on so well with his confidence. His baby recall is brilliant, he is like a sponge and on the whole is shaping up to be a very good boy.

Quite a pack you've got there! All so different, but all with something to be proud of.
Monster is a "people dog" who especially loves children but would be a rubbish therapy dog because he would climb all over people and lick them to death!

I'm so proud of my dog every single day.
She knows who to be boisterous with, who to be gentle with and she absolutely loves everyone. She would live in my skin if she could. I'm just so proud of how settled she is and her lust for life makes me laugh every day.

ETA my proudest moment was probably when my mother came home from hospital and the dog gently jumped up beside her and rested a paw on her knee. I probably sound nuts but she seems really intuitive as to how people are feeling.

Dobby is the same, he's way too keen on long dog hugs and trying to kiss your ear.

I was really proud of Bertie last week. We joined in late to a course of lessons so the others had done bits that he hadn’t before and he was really good.
He was * maybe the best of the 4 😇❤️
They had reccomended I join because he’s a bit nervous of other dogs so meant he was training with them in the “arena” type thing. He was super!

Purdey puppy is now 6 months old and on a very regular basis out in public we are complimented on how good she is for her age - this has been the case ever since we have had her! It makes me very proud of her (not that we havn't put the work in, but I think her temperament helps too)

My girls are my world and make me smile everyday but when this happened I melted.

I have a very barky nervous rescue, when my father had a heart attack last year my OH and I got in the car with the girls (dogs) and hit the road for the 5 hour plus trip. During the trip my father died. When we walked in to mums house Vida would normally panic and bark more so as there where a lot of people that she did not know. But nothing, I swear she read the room went up to mum and let her touch her head (hardly anyone gets to touch Vida). Then went to sit with her sister (our other rescue).

I’m always proud of my little dog, she’s a lovely ‘person’ to have around and at training really tries her heart out, even though she finds concentrating very hard. And today when I fell over walking her (missed the mud slide under the patch of fallen leaves) she didn’t disappear into the undergrowth after whatever wildlife is in there, she waited for me to get up and pick up her lead and then walked really nicely at my side all the way home.

Really proud of Fodhla today. I'm working from home on a research project (which basically means I'm drinking endless tea and pacing about). The electrical engineers are digging up the street and it's winding me up, but she just... Doesn't give a hoot? She was an angel on her walk this morning too.

This is the same dog who used to howl if someone walked up the stairs or dropped the remote control. Might sound silly to people with dogs who have jobs or dogs who are perfectly well behaved but I'm endlessly proud of her choosing 'chill'. Doesn't take much to make me proud of her 😂
This time last year I thought we were doing great and that she was perfect, but I think she's actually perfect now.

Such a joy to have around.

I have a little black Pomeranian. He is wired for sound on a regular day. Opinionated, manipulative and very active. Always up to mischief.

But he is actually very sweet. I adore the little tyke to bits. There isn't a day goes by without him doing something to make you laugh. From dolling out a stop that to a horse kicking a stable door, to assisting with the feeding routine, makes sure each horse gets their own feed and he gives out to the ones who aren't waiting patiently, to checking that the field horses are still field horses, and reporting back on how they are. Pomeranian Zoomies are the funniest thing to watch. For a little fella he has some speed!

He's currently on steroids for a little interdigital cyst and hes absolutely bonkers. Non stop all day telling everyone his opinion on everything.

He sounds like a terror but he is actually really good, will do what you ask and is very patient. He was wowing everyone in the vet's office the other evening with his impecable manners and tricks.

Monster was brilliant the other evening. A friend came round with her 2 kids under the age of 4yo who are scared of dogs. There was a bit of juggling around as she arrived at the same time as me to get the dog fed and out in the garden to let off some steam.
I put monster on his short lead and equipped myself with plenty of treats and we took up one sofa while friend and kids had the other. Monster was so good the kids ended up timidly asking if they could say hello and he gave gentle licks on their hands. He stayed on his cushion the whole time we were eating and ignored a fair bit of running around and noise.
I'm really proud of him because it really tested his patience though he loves kids he would rather be playing with them than waiting quietly.

PS he was on lead the whole time and no kids were put in danger for the making of this post

What a good dog. So satisfying when the gears of understanding click in with the cogs of obedience.

We are a plague house, OH and housemate are both restricted to upstairs to keep their covid germs to themselves.

It means I'm trying to work 2 jobs, keep everyone fed/hydrated, keep up with housework and care for 5 dogs.

Something has to give so the adult dogs are getting significantly less walks as I can't walk all 5 together and the puppy is adjusted to one walk and one at home training session to use his brain. They are all coping brilliantly, while I'm not surprised with the 16yo terrier and 9yo whippet (who firmly believes she should be at one with a duvet from October to April anyway) are not at all bothered but normally I would have silliness from the others but all have just accepted the change in their stride 🥰

We have struggled a lot this year with training as we think there’s a behavioural issue going on but my little dog has been improving so much in our training classes recently and today she was the best she has ever been. She still has a very low threshold for distraction but today (as well as doing her best actual work) she was checking in with me and sitting for a treat when she saw people / dogs / a leaf blowing rather than lunging at them. Such a little thing but one of the things we have been working so hard at.

Really pleased with the Angry Bird today. Two new folks with reactive dogs plus a young female who has been there since a pup that's getting a bit up herself and mine was the stooge dog. She was so good, getting barked at and just ignoring them, and was able to use her to demonstrate where they will be able to go/what they'll be able to do with their own dogs eventually. Super little girl.

Just a pity she's such a wagon on her home turf 🙄 but it's because she's never had a bad experience at a training field because everyone controls their dogs...

My proudest moment was when my dogs saved my husbands life. He was slipping into a diabetic coma downstairs and one jumped the stairgate and woke me up whilst the other barked , I was able to get ambulance to him in time. Sadly we have lost one of them but Dougal still makes me happy everyday.

Booked a one to one session at a new venue last week, to continue working on a specific issue. Tried to elicit the issue using trainer's dog - nada. Goes and gets another dog out of the van - nope. Fetches a rambunctious puppy - nothing. Starts chucking every dog out of every person's van on site, in increasingly high arousal presentations (lobbing balls, barking, recalling and sending away past at speed etc.) - not a squeak.

Poor chap was trying very hard and probably though I was going to be all butthurt as we'd travelled a long way and paid a fair wad of money but I was *thrilled*. And to his credit we did end up driving on to a public park to try some more things out in the wild.

As CC, dog is still a knobhead from home but off the back of this experience we bundled into the car yesterday to a big park, the kind of place I would never normally walk in a million years. She absolutely smashed it. 💪💪💪
