Up in the clouds
Why do you nwant to breed from him?
Do you have the facilities to keep a stallion?
I'm afraid your friend has misinformed you. If you read ANY literature on breeding or look up articles on the internet you will see that he should be fertile now.
In fact it is quite possible if none of the mares he has been running with are in-foal that you/he have a problem and he will always be infertile.
Incidentally there is no need for stallions to be badly behaved.
I have known very well-mannered stallions who ride out with mares, hunt, graze while ignoring mares riding past their field and generally know what is acceptable behaviour BUT they have to be taught this by some-one who knows what they are doing.
I'm afraid stallions are not for novices, please have him gelded asap.
Or your best bet might be to send him to Franch?
