I know a few people with ex-Donnelly horses. They would definitely be very good at seeing they go to the right home.

Funnily enough Asterion Forlonge, who was one of theirs, also broke his pelvis at Cheltenham, whilst running in the Gold Cup. He returned to the track at the top level. He just retired this season aged 11.

They retire their horses Al Boum Photo is I think low level eventing in Ireland. Melon is teamchasing ROR in UK. Asterion Forlonge went to be retrained by Claire Ricketts.
 
This morning 7,500 thousand miles away two extraordinary racehorses were again extraordinary. Superstar NZ bred sprinter Ka Ying Rising (I flew his granddad Volksraad to NZ, Volksraad's also the grandsire of Artist -as in 5* eventer), won his 17th race in a row and seventh Group One (and took his winnings to £12,500,000), and an hour later the Irish bred Romantic Warrior won the first leg of the Hong Kong Triple Crown, his 12th Group One and took his prize money to over £25,000,000. A round of applause to two absolute icons of racing

You are correct Al Boum Photo is eventing in Ireland and is slowly moving up the grades…He looks absolutely wonderful and I love watching him jump my fence….

Gifted article so free to read. Ostensibly about Welsh jockeys and the decline of pointing in wales as a grounding for jockeys that come from Wales but also a lot about Ben Jones.
 
Just seen a video about another of Nicky Henderson that had a fractured pelvis called Buzz. He recovered and they tried him in a flat race and he didn’t do well . Nicky asked his work rider gor 5 years if he was still the same to ride and he said no and he is now retired from racing and owned by his work rider

Sorry it should have said his work rider for 5 years,I will edit, the horse was older, can’t remember exactly how old and NH listened to the rider to make the decision

Crossing everything he can withstand the recovery and come good again, I keep thinking of the trauma (for me anyway) of monitoring the progress of St Nicholas Abbey, I was merely a fan of his and that was heartbreaking, so close and yet so far. For my, I would hope they could get him sound and find him a new job out of racing, that would be the perfect outcome.

Yes, I am old enough to remember the whole Barbaro fiasco. That was just awfully tragic.
Fingers crossed Sir G makes an excellent recovery. He's such a gorgeous horse, I'd love it if he retires and then goes ROR showing.
