I know a few people with ex-Donnelly horses. They would definitely be very good at seeing they go to the right home.He has gone to Three Counties Equine Hospital, it is not far from the track and they have state of the art kit and fabulous vets.
All depends on what the owners will want to do if he can be saved. Do the Donnelly's retire their horses or sell them on ?
Funnily enough Asterion Forlonge, who was one of theirs, also broke his pelvis at Cheltenham, whilst running in the Gold Cup. He returned to the track at the top level. He just retired this season aged 11.I know a few people with ex-Donnelly horses. They would definitely be very good at seeing they go to the right home.
Honestly it's time for them to retire the poor horse.
They retire their horses Al Boum Photo is I think low level eventing in Ireland. Melon is teamchasing ROR in UK. Asterion Forlonge went to be retrained by Claire Ricketts. He has gone to Three Counties Equine Hospital, it is not far from the track and they have state of the art kit and fabulous vets.

You are correct Al Boum Photo is eventing in Ireland and is slowly moving up the grades…He looks absolutely wonderful and I love watching him jump my fence….They retire their horses Al Boum Photo is I think low level eventing in Ireland. Fabulous to see them go onto a second career. You are correct Al Boum Photo is eventing in Ireland and is slowly moving up the grades…He looks absolutely wonderful and I love watching him jump my fence….
This morning 7,500 thousand miles away two extraordinary racehorses were again extraordinary. Superstar NZ bred sprinter Ka Ying Rising (I flew his granddad Volksraad to NZ, Volksraad's also the grandsire of Artist -as in 5* eventer), won his 17th race in a row and seventh Group One (and took his winnings to £12,500,000), and an hour later the Irish bred Romantic Warrior won the first leg of the Hong Kong Triple Crown, his 12th Group One and took his prize money to over £25,000,000. A round of applause to two absolute icons of racing

It was a fascinating experience!Amazing and how nice to gave a connection.
It isn't really age that comes into it for me.
I just think after any serious injury, it's within the horse's best interest to not expect the same intensity from them in the future.
I hope he comes good. He's a spectacular horse.

Sorry it should have said his work rider for 5 years,I will edit, the horse was older, can’t remember exactly how old and NH listened to the rider to make the decision
Yes, I am old enough to remember the whole Barbaro fiasco. That was just awfully tragic.Crossing everything he can withstand the recovery and come good again, I keep thinking of the trauma (for me anyway) of monitoring the progress of St Nicholas Abbey, I was merely a fan of his and that was heartbreaking, so close and yet so far. For my, I would hope they could get him sound and find him a new job out of racing, that would be the perfect outcome.
That’s interesting. Cross tieing is dismal for the horse (and connections), but the reasoning behind it was always that the horse must not be allowed to lie down/get up in case of a catastrophic aggravation of the pelvic injury.Interesting piece in Racing Post today though is subscription only area - vet talking about pelvic injuries saying the idea now is not to tie them at all and get controlled movement early as possible.

I wouldn’t care to hand walk out a box rested horse with a severe pelvic injury. One yee haa kick up of the heels could do all sorts.
SG is to be transported back to the yard in the horse ambulance, not a regular lorry, very wise.
Meanwhile over in the Constitution Hill camp https://www.facebook.com/reel/897331219923063
I find this bizarre and uncomfortable viewing, I reflect what a lot of others have said, if the worst happens should they jump him in a race again then I hope they can somehow justify it. Horse seems to have totally bottled it and is no longer a safe conveyance. (Caveat to say I know Im not NH whom I admire greatly, which is why Im sitting at a desk not standing at the top of the gallops!).
Exactly, i don't get why they cant just thank him for what hes done, and retire him. He'd make someone a lovely ROR, and he could parade at courses and it would have been a great example of doing right by the horse. All 3 falls (he also had a near capsize just before) could have been fatal they weren't just him tipping up.
They will have blood on their hands if they run him in the champion hurdle and something happens when he has a known problem. For whatever reason something isnt working, and its happened 3 times now, surely not coincidence
Im imagining its the owner mostly, and am getting a very unfavourable impression of him over his whole handling of this. NH I cant tell, as obviously he will be bound by what the owner says, but it feels like both are encouraging each other with some "fairytale" idea of a comeback
Even comments on racing pages are generally questioning them so its not just us being "soft"
Same for Sir Gino, why is there even the thought of racing him again? Just because hes young enough to come back? I know he will undergo tests if it gets that far, but surely the pelvis will be ever so slightly weakened and going at those speeds with the risk of falls....
He’s learning how to use starting stallsCan someone please summarise what is on the facebook clip in regard to CHill.
