2023 Chagford Sales Dates
12th Oct - youngstock (fillies <2yo, colts <1yo) and geldings
2nd Nov - older stallions and mares, late drift youngstock
Online sale in Dec, date TBC

even a Friesian x drum horse
He was on HQ for months, possibly a year, and now he's being advertised by a dodgy dealer on DD. Something very wrong with that horse, or a horse of his type would have been sold long ago.

I'm supposed to be doing a (very belated) spring clean on Saturday, but between the unreg Fell mare, reg Hackney mare, the French Trotter, and the Lippizaner you mention, I'll probably waste the day watching online and sitting on my hands.

Sad to see an 18yo ex-RS gelding there.

Chagford is dangerous, I’ve brought 3 there over the years. Most recent one is still in the field eating his silly spotty head off.

It's only about 35 miles from me, if I went there I would be bound to find pity purchase and my other half would not be best pleased not that he would do much about it!

The 21st is the Hill Bred Gems on line auction, just about all are this years foals, some very nice ones in there. So much more pleasant to not have the foals going through the stress of a live auction. Lots of photos on the Facebook page.

The FPS annual sale is later in October at NWA.

New auction starting @ Rockrose Equestrian Sports Centre, East Lothian. First date is the 30th Sept, with 29 horses total from to 4-month-olds, to 10-year-olds; horses with BE points to broodmares to a hunter. Catalogue here (quite laggy though).

Spectators to pay £10 to attend.

All horses offered for sale can be seen performing and also tried by potential buyers at the excellent facilities provided by Rockrose Equestrian Centre. Horses will all be assessed by our expert veterinary panel before being presented for sale and onsite veterinary support will be available to answer queries or questions prior to any potential purchases. All horses offered must be suitable for riding or for breeding riding and performance horses.

If anyone’s going, I’d be interested to hear a report of how well it works out and what the prices are like. It’d be nice to have a proper sports auction running regularly in Britain.

There is a horse and pony auction at J36 today with nearly 300 entries.
I had been thinking of going but am not well enough so may watch online if I can get it to connect.
Lots of Shetlands and coloured cobs but others as well.

Good job I am taking one home from the Cheltenham sale in the box today so I have no space to stop in and pick one up from J36 on my way home ....
