RSPCA

Yes but that’s if they drive it normally? /they’re removing and don’t have anywhere for them to go rather than not acting and then no one else getting involved because the rspca is.

Ill never get over carrot and spud thought that wasn’t helped by the vet involved.

Suffolk free press will not run a story as they haven’t got the balls. I’ve emailed story and photos to the daily mail. Heard nothing. Rung them this morning too. She’s leaving next weekend. So time is running out. Honestly don’t know what else we can do.

Why haven't the RSPCA removed them?
Because they are useless. They went in spring. Said they were ok. But another then died. Since found out it’s 7 at this yard. Plus three previously. All mysteriously colic. One at this yard was laying on the ground dead for so long , the magpies had pecked its eyes out. They have been back out again. In the dark. Didn’t look at them. Won’t answer to any questions about what they are going to go. Or remove them. This is the summer photo. RSPCA said all ok.

Someone needs to start a Dodgy Welfare Services FB page. Like the Dodgy Dealers page. Have people submit stories. Delete owner names and locations so the pages stay up - it;s the RSPCA & others who need to be targeted when they are utterly useless. To put pressure on them to act. Donations would soon dry up if this kind of story was known about more widely. Look how fast abuse stories spread on SM.

Plus the fact that other welfare organisations won't go and see horses the RSPCA saw MONTHS ago is Kafka-esque in it's craziness.

I know you hope that it won't but if it should happen again that there is a dead animal left in the field, report immediately to the local council animal welfare dept/DEFRA. That is a public health issue.

Sorry I haven’t read all the posts but is it worth contacting solway racehorses to explain what’s going on and see if they can do anything? Or at least take any back which were rehomed from them in the first place if possible? A dreadful situation can’t believe rspca haven’t done anything 😢

Seems the most logical next (and first) step.

There is one journalist writes for Mail newspapers, Liz Jones, who is very keen on animal rights, anti- animal exploitation, and is / was a horse owner (was based in West Country, maybe now lives in N.Yorks?). She is a long standing columnist, diarist, with a strong following.
Had a brief look for contact, which there is for twitter / x,
Lizjonesgoddess.com @LizJonesGoddess
Photos and potted synopsis of situation to her, with an urgent appeal for publicity and assistance to save those remaining?

Writing in the message 'RSPCA involved' might make them think enough is happening to help the horses already?
Could it be worth letting them know what danger the remaining horses are in specifically?

There is a on line daily mail article today
Can you not post on the comments section
You should be able to call the RSPCA out ref these horses ?

I'm surprised to hear that other charities won't go out if the RSPCA are involved. I volunteer as a BHS welfare advisor, and have often found myself talking to owners who had had visits from the RSPCA and WHW as well as me - some complainants obviously go to all three, which is fine. We can't act ourselves but can push for other organisations e.g. police/RSPCA/councils to do something if we feel it's necessary.

It's always the same stories over and over - the RSPCA are of course lacking but all the other horse charities who are our voice know this too and say nothing. One of the charities did a survey earlier in the year about what to take to Government and horse owners were Most Concerned about lack of enforcement of the Animal Welfare Act - has this appeared anywhere ? No. Delighted to be proved wrong.
