OK now I'm sure I'm about to show my age here, but I'm going to ask anyway.
What is it with certain riding clothing adverts where the models are head to toe in skin tight lycra and stick their bum and boobs out?? Even sat on a horse they do this. I've just seen yet another ad with this pose, a Holland and Cooper ad this time. Model stood there sticking her bum out. It looks to me like it's been photoshopped as the bum to waist ratio looks really odd. It this the latest 'thing' ? ?

I find it all very odd too. I like the Holland & Cooper clothes but refuse to pay their prices so don't own any of it, but I would never have thought that sex appeal would be the way to advertise Equestrian apparel. No-one I know wants to look sexy riding, classy, functional, smart and fashionable maybe, but sexy no.
I always find it rather uncomfortable to see people posing with animals in a sexy or sultry manner anyway, maybe it's just me but I find placing an animal in a shot of this 'feel' a bit inappropriate and disjointed..

Saying that.. there have been a couple of topless cowboy men with horses posted on FB raising money for whatever that I didn't hate :p

I would LOVE to see a realistic ad campaign!

wow - look how easily this smear of shit camouflages itself into my jacket.

I can wear these all week and they are still a solid colour

I can still fit in these breeches after not eating all day then the bloat after 50 cups of tea and a packet of biscuits.

Some of us just can't help it though . I am often to be found welly deep in sh*t , staring pensively into the distance and pouting provocatively . I am a goddess in Dunlops . What can I say .

I’ve never seen anyone over the age of 25 wearing H&C
Or if they are over 25 they have never been anywhere near a horse and want to bag themselves a farmer.

I don’t we are the clientele they are appealing to ?
I’m over 25, ride professionally and wear some H&C ? However I will say this whole posing in skin tight clothes with arched backs and butts sticking out is definitely aiming at a certain crowd. I look at the images and think, well that doesn’t look comfortable!

There is another very popular UK equestrian legging brand that irks me in their sexualised poses. I don’t know when, why or how it all started going down the “sexy” road, but that seems to be how most of these brands make their sales these days.

Who is it? Ive just been googling to find some pics and as to be expected, I can't now find any? There is a particular company, not H&C who put their models in truly awful bum sticking out poses and clearly then photoshop the poor model's tummy so it looks about 22". I reckon it's all come from the Kardashians.

I did say that with tongue firmly in cheek. But where I am that sweeping generalisation is quite true ?

I can’t afford it anyway, peasant!

Black Heart Equestrian? The girl who owns it (long dark hair) is always sat rather moon shaped on her horse, unsure if she naturally looks that way or it's as forced as it looks.. Very good rider though so musn't be like it all the time

Yes!!!! That's it. I just had a look through their Instagram page. Gooood Looooord it really is all rather sexualised with those provocative poses. Is this what now sells clothes?? The mind boggles ?

That’s the one! I’m sure she’s absolutely lovely and a great rider, and to be honest quite a clever business woman because she’s built a very (seemingly) successful brand, but the moon shape (love that description!!) looks very exaggerated and uncomfortable to me and i see it emulated by younger riders, who feel it’s this “look” that makes you successful.

I will admit I may be overly sensitive to it because at the moment I’m feeling old (even though I know I’m not) and it seems everywhere I turn it’s about being sexy. After putting on 7kg this year, I’m certainly not feeling very sexy ?

Shetland was on to it! I feel like I’m seeing more and more of this kind of advertising to sell and get popular.

I agree.
I think a lot of it is to sell to younger ones that want to look good on Instagram. It’s it’s own culture now.

I mean, I look gorgeous when I rock up at the yard but don’t see none of the lads jumping off the tractor having a look ? must need one of these co-ordinated outfits.

To be fair I do like to make sure my outfit is matchy, but if my hair is washed than everyone is in luck ? And honestly I’m a small person so me ever trying to look “sexy” would just be straight up embarrassing ?
