So this is Sadie

What a difference a day makes, when you're very in season

Took a half day today to spend some time with the sweetie and had a very lovely little long reining session in the school. Tried our hand at two-rein lunging and it went okay? She was trying quite hard to get to her friends who have been moved to the field beside the arena and keep sticking their heads through the hedge, but that is very forgivable. HOWEVER. Idiot human did NOT pay attention to her pony and assumed naughty when she should have assumed anxious and got both of us caught in thunder and hail. Sadie does not misbehave without a good reason, I should remember that!

We are getting okay at two rein lunging together ? she is still pulling me down the school towards the field, but only a little bit in this clip, it got worse when Big V started yelling ?

Had the OH with me today. He did an absolutely stellar rug repair for me and came down to present the 2-week-old-already-repaired Highlander. Came with us for a walk down to the main road and it was a delight! Despite the suuped up monster VW polo slowing down politely until we got into a driveway then revving the life out of it to get away. Bless this traffic proof pony!

Shes looking plump but is now joining V in his Slimming World Paddock during the day ?

What is that phrase about a cob having the face of a fine lady and the arse of a cook? ?

By way of update; grass has sent my previously always sensible, basically bombproof little mare up the walls. She's spooky, herd bound, constantly in season and generally an idiot. It's been quite difficult for me to get my head around, but some friends are being very helpful and I've stopped having daily meltdowns.

We have had our first hack on the road together last Friday, the day before she hurt herself during a mass break out of the field (someone dragged the electric fence everywhere, but 3 of them came in lame so WHO KNOWS). We haven't done much else since. Sound now so maybe try again this weekend ?

She was excellent though. Auntie J came with us on foot for moral support and she LOVES her Auntie J ?

Very pretty, and what a gloriously long tail!
I cant bring myself to trim it, I love her beautiful tail ?

Mini update: had to be backed out of the field and up the short lane because we planted instead of leaving our friends today. I said this to another livery and she reacted like I'd said she had lost a leg. Her back up is excellent now and its easier and faster than pulling her along, whats the problem??? She will learn going forward is easier eventually, right?

Another mini update: we have had our first little trot in the arena, (while there was hay being cut 2 fields away) and she was a little gem and we had our first tiny hack on the road with a friend! We were supposed to be pony-ing off my friends very sensible mare but then she remembered she is a 5yo sports horse who had an easy week so Auntie J led both ?

She's been coming out of the field perfectly since she's come out of season and I started leading her round the yard every day while I do jobs instead of leaving her in her stable. And she was very good for the wee apprentice farrier, even though he said she looked like she is in foal (cheeky bugger, shes not that bad).

TL;DR: She's back in the good books ?

Slightly longer in-hand hack today as had the OH with me. Did not blink at ANY traffic, not even the Audi that sped past me waving to slow down, or the lovely ASDA man in the big van (the only one with an actual deadline) who stopped completely.

Accidentally kicked me in the heel and jumped 3ft in the air as she didn't know what her foot had touched. She goes vertical and then lands splay legged like a cartoon, I can't help but love it.

My heel is fine, but I got a stone bruise from wearing shit shoes ?

Little update because I am buzzing, perhaps weirdly because we had a very spooky hack today.

It was windy but she was fine. There were more cars than usual at that time on a Tuesday but she was fine, her friend spooked at a drain cover but she was fine.

Then we had a lesson on trigger stacking when she spotted an extremely visible cyclist and had her first proper spook. He went past and she was okay, then there was a dog going nuts behind a hedge, 2 cars behind and the calves in the field on the other side (also behind a hedge) decided to have a hooley all at the same time and the wheels fell off slightly BUT she was safe and manageable and came back to me no problem after just a few sideways steps and I am absolutely over the moon ? I didn't feel unsafe for a single second and I have NEVER been a confident hacker.

This is a picture from last week, today was not a day for photos also dojt look at my stupid face I was in the middle of telling her how much I love her ?

I got a very sweet present for my birthday, tried to get a nice photo with Sadie wearing it but my leaping about trying to get her ears forward was just embarrassing, apparently ?

We had a lovely little schooling session with her best friend Dollie, while there was wheat being harvested in the field just across the road from the arena. She is just the best wee spud.

Sadie is an absolute gem and beautiful to boot. Congratulations on all the hard work @smolmaus :)
Ty ? but neither of us have worked that hard at all, or it doesn't feel like it. We are an easy going pair just having a nice time (except when either of us is hungry or hormonal ?)

Ty also for birthday wishes, she was the best part of my day (closely followed by the homemade coffee and pecan cake courtesy of the OH)

Another hack that objectively WASNT GREAT but I come home so happy with Sadie I could cry.

Some absolute cretin passed her at at least 25mph so close I could have kicked his drivers window in (wish I had) then BEEPED because I hadn't gotten out of his way quick enough. I am not sure Sadie even twitched tbh, she is a miracle child. It was like nothing had happened at all.

We got the numberplate so now I just have to find a way to report this that doesn't involve a phonecall because I hate phonecalls so much.

Sadie update, on a Friday eve when I am on the vino as usual

Had to do our first police report for the aggressive driver 2 weeks ago. Police rang me back arranged to take a statement then never turned up but at least I did my part reporting it ?

Broke through the fence... 4 times? Twice with me and then twice in the same 15 monutes with my pony co-parent with a broken shoulder, leading a mass misbehaviour and getting friend pushed into a fence. Took a chunk out of my finger today (accidentally). Stood for a bath like a perfect angel. Refused to go within 4ft of the arena fence because Suddenly Monsters. Walked out down the road in hand with a new mare like she had known her all her life. I finally found her funny face itchy spot right inside the bum cheek.

REAL reason I posted is the new livery we have met her today and said my first description of her "a shitty little cob with a bratty attitude" (see above, but always said with love) was very poor and that she was a perfect stamp of a pony with a beautiful face. We are going to be friends :3

A friend of ours used to carry her metal tipped whip upside down. She would give any close cars a clonk with it!
