Friday update: Now I'm not scared to ride alone we are flying. Rode 4 days this week, only very short stints but we are understanding lateral aids, almost have a turn on the forehand and now starting on building up trot fitness for (hopefully) our first little outing to a pleasure ride hack thing at a local estate with some friends at the end of the month.

We also went blackberry picking down the road, she is terrible at it and eats the nasty unripe ones if I don't pick the good ones fast enough.

This absolute superstar of a pony met a tractor with a slurry tank on the back on the way to the field and breezed past it, through the 3 ft gap full of exhaust fumes with nary a care in the world. I f-ing LOVE HER ???

She was also a little gem for her Auntie J riding her yesterday. I might MIGHT try her over a teeny tiny crosspole next week. MIGHT.

Today someone else wanted to jump so she had to follow me round and put them all back up again.
 
Guess who colicked so hard and so suddenly I thought she had an aneurysm? Pain so bad she couldn't keep her legs under her, fell and almost squashed the vet while he was taking her heart rate.

She's fine now, kicking her door to protest her meagre soaked hay rations, so I can be breezy about it. Buscopan is a miracle drug. I'm on 4 hours of sleep and dreading looking at my work emails after sending essentially "vet emergency, won't be at home, talk later bye"
 
She has been acting normally all day, just hangry and annoyed she can't be in the field with her mates. Panic over, just regular anxiety now.

She got 2 hours out at lunchtime on vets orders and when I came to fetch her in again she came ambling down the hill to see me, even though I had her tortured ? she was so good all day. I've lost my mind I'm so tired.

A sensitive boy ? that makes sense though that body temperature drop could cause problems.

Vet said there were 4 call outs for colic last night in the area so it must have been the sudden cold snap affecting the grass. She is staying in tonight (their last night out before they come in at night for winter, sorry Sadie) just in case. I hope she doesn't expect middle of the night visits for scratches and cuddles regularly now.

I know, vet was out last week at a check on my yard and said they had 8 colics in one day. Farrier said its everywhere not just south ayrshire ?

oh she absolutely will want that. Worst of the weather to come to us tomorrow early afternoon so BB might get a night in ♥️
Hope she is back to normal ?
 
Haven't posted much in this thread because, well, we haven't been having a nice time. Planting in the arena has been a problem BUT I'm posting now because I've had an incredibly obvious breakthrough that I am asking too much of a 9yo that has never been worked before and being in the arena all the time is f-ing boring. Even I was finding it dull.

So she got a weeks break, bar a very very short hack on Sunday to the end of the road and back and a 15-20 min session this evening and she was an absolute delight. Off the leg, interested, lovely.

I have softly committed to entering her in an intro dressage test in a few weeks. Mostly going to get her an outing and to support a friend. Worst that can happen is she plants and we need 4 pony club dads to lift her back to the box. Bringing my own wooden spoon.

Oh ETA we also had our first appointment with the Premier Local Farrier and she's being diagnosed as knock-kneed, poor child. But her feet are looking fabulous. Previous farrier wasn't bad, but the information I got from the new one was just a delight.
