Some stupid woman and her teen daughter came to view V this morning. TBH I didn't like the look of them but gave them the benefit of the doubt as I have turned so many people down cause I didn't think they would be suitable.

First of all they asked if I would accept 6K for him, before actually seeing him, I said I would if they got on well with him.

I dragged the poor bugger in from the field, chucked his tack on and took him into the indoor scool.

I rode him for about 15 mins, he was a tad fresh but hasn;t been ridden for a week and, |I got him working long and low nicely. Did some lateral work and he was superb.

This teen then got on and walked off around the school, she wasn't very balanced or quiet ( which I stated he needed) but he was such a good boy and bumbled around in walk on both reins. I was so proud of him.

This girl then thumped him in is sides to send him into trot, no warning, a real thelwell type kick (you don't need much leg really) and scared him half to death.

He shot off at a fast trot and she proceeded to yank him in the mouth, this way and that, 10 metre circles (at a very fast trot, luckily he is very blanced)

I suggested that she slow him down and keep her hands still (puppet syndrome) and her mother said "her hands are fine and thats a good forward working trot"

She then tried to pull him accross the school (leg yield) at a hurried trot and the poor little guy, bless his heart, nearly fell over as he was trying so hard and she pony club kicked him again into canter.

His canter is his best pace but she made him go around practically in gallop and was pulling the hell out of his gob.
frown.gif

By this point I was boiling, I asked her if she could just come back to walk, then halt, which she did. I got hold of my poor little sweaty shaky man and asked her to get off saying I didn't think the rider was in anyway suitable.

The mother then said she didnt think he was suitable anyway and they just left without another word

I managed to hold back the tears until they had gone out of the yard, I am so mad and upset that someone could treat my horse like that.

Why can't someone nice come along and offer him a lovely home?

A very very upset Piaffe.

Grrr people like that really annoy me!!

Dont be afraid to say quickly, 'I'm sorry but I dont think he's quite what you want' adk them to leave.

I had one girl come to try Mustard and she hadnt got a clue, she was terrified and couldnt stop him- he wasnt actually going anywhere but she wasnt doing anything at all to indicate she wished to halt!! She got off quickly and they were very apologetic. She now comes for lessons with us and is progressing very well- it can work out well!!

Thats awful
we were only saying this morning at work how people need licences to own or be around horses there are so many awful people out there
i am looking for another horse can i ask what your horse is like and how much you are looking for for him?X

frown.gif
I would have him in a flash, such a lovely horse.
Bloody muppets
mad.gif

It is awful to see your horse being ridden badly.

Better luck next time x

If ONLY I could afford a horse of my own.....I'd love your boy. He sounds so so so sweet.

What a horrible experience for all involved.
frown.gif

Such a shame...thats the last thing you want, i would have dragged her of the poor horse if she hadnt got off!!!

Wish i had a lot of spare money...then could help you out!

Hope you do manage to find someone very loving and caring for your lovely boy!!!
smile.gif

Poor you, just horrible isn't it.

My mum once dragged a girl off one of our horses which she was trying. She was the potential purchasers expert and was a complete no-nothing nightmare. She got on the xtremely obedient and sweet little horse. Did a massive kick, socked him really hard in the teeth and he stood up in shock. My mum literally pulled her from the horse & kicked them off the yard....

Muppets!
I have gotten good at weeding them out on the phone, but ocassionally they slip through the net. I have had some HORRIBLE people come view, my very sensitive chestnut mare unfortunately seemed to attract the worst people.
A couple of people I wouldn't even let get on her - one of which had walked up to her and kicked her in the cannon bone 'to see if she would be a careful jumper' and then preceeded to stand there while we talked and pluck the poor lady's whiskers out of her muzzle!

She got sent home pronto!

I would be annoyed too- If I was riding crap, I would expect my mum to pull me up on it, I hate parents who defend bad riding- they encourage it.
You must be really pissed off, V looks like a really sweet little horse, I hope he finds a great home, that is very un PC. x

Poor pony has he recovered? People are so strange, my EDT was telling me about a client of his who was selling and the person viewing wanted them to prove the horse was good with kids by letting the viewers small child sit on the floor underneath the horses tummy - WTF?! I don't know the person in question but apparently they were told where to go and quite right too!

On no
frown.gif
I would be crying too Debs, how awful to witness that.

And how can they go around thinking that that is the correct way to ride??

I don't understand it. Surely when she got on him she could feel that he didn't need pony club type kicks.

Poor V

frown.gif

Oh that's awful
frown.gif
I'm so sorry to hear that. I think I would have kicked the kid in the same way she kicked the horse, little sh*t!

Oh no, sorry to hear that
frown.gif
That girl and her Mum sound a right nightmare (yet I bet they both thought she was amazing
smirk.gif
) V sounds like he was a very good boy not to dump her. Big hugs to you xxx

Do you know, I wish I was quicker to say something, cant really explain why I didnt if Im honest, perhaps I was too shocked.

Sounds horrendous, I hate rude people but when their on your horse it's even worse.
Good luck with selling your horse, the right person will come along
smile.gif

That reminds me of the people I've had try horses here. Huge ideas about their own abilites yet they can't sit still and go with the horse to save their lives.
I have now got three for sale and one is about to be restarted after being backed last year. I quiz people carefully before they arrive and if they look hopeless, stop them quickly. with a baby it's vital they don't get ridden by prats, and as it's my horse I feel it's my right to tactfully suggest it isn't right for them.
I hate selling horses with a vengeance, thank goodness once these three have gone I don't have to sell any for years..
frown.gif

poor boyo!
she sounds horrid.
although maybe now you will get your gut feeling and be abit more confident to say i dont think he is for you, thanks for coming...?can totally understand why you would feel awkward doing so though.
fingers crossed a lovely owner comes along for him.
they sound really rude as well as crap owners/riders!urgh hate it when parents see kids through rose tinted glasses when it comes to the horses welfare.bet you were shocked to think they thought she was riding him well.

On the positive side it is a reflection of you and your good training and horses temperament that he tolerated them and still tried. Proof positive you've brought him up correctly!

Sorry to hear that, some people are just awful and shouldn't be allowed near horses
frown.gif
I had one kid try out my warmblood ages ago, she thought his canter was so cool that she cantered for ages and ages and I could see him starting to get fed up and was just about to say so, when he then put in a big buck and she flopped off :P Funny thing is, he'd never ever bucked before!! He just didn't like her, I quite like it when they do that. Some people deserve to get chucked off :P

I have no advice, but send you enormous hugs. This is so hard and painful for you. Someone perfect will come along, you'll see; just be patient xxx
