let's go with your second sentence then:

[ QUOTE ]
I'm sure they have to have an NVQ in being thick to get in the force, lets face it, any body with intelligence isn't going to go in the force to start with'

[/ QUOTE ]

are you saying that those members of HHO who happen to be in the force have no intelligence?

[/ QUOTE ]

Dont know, I havent met them that I know of, but unfortunately going by the percentage of the ones I have, about 90% of them must have, so things dont look too good.

Lets look at this from a logical veiw, most people who become Doctors want to heal people, most people who become Paramedics want to save people, most people who become nurses want to help people, people who become traffic wardens, security gaurds, police, baliffs, prison officers, wheel clampers must enjoy confrontation and control over people, why else would you want to do it, certainly not for the money.

[/ QUOTE ]

My OH who is a police officer has over 17 years exp and is a specalist in sexual offences and dealing with rape victims and now sex offenders. He has been called out to deal with a serious sexual assault, when he comes home I will ask him about his motivation to join and stay in the police and if he is enjoys confrontation and control. Being ex job myself those 2 things didn't relate. to me in any way.

[/ QUOTE ]

Very good, still doesn't seem to miracuously make all my encounters with "those in the job" suddenly positive when they have 9 times out of 10 been negative, seems strange to "me" that a male would be dealing with rape victims, if I was a female rape victim the last person I would want to be interviewed by would be a male officer

Thank you for that you have kindly confirmed something that my husband and I were discussing today. The next police car marked or unmarked who fails to comply will be getting a written complaint. Also so will the enquiries desk who think its funny when you ring and complain about some a**e in a car who likes to harrass riders by screaming up behind them and getting close enough going past to knock the riders stirupp off!!!!

[ QUOTE ]
i know it sounds silly to shoulder in in this situation. but i have to explain that jacks version of a shoulder in is to just to bend his neck so his tracks didn't change, i was told to do this when i did my bhs road safety many years ago.

[/ QUOTE ]

IN RELATION to this manouvere...
You did right, and although others will state how dangerous this is.... provided you perform the shoulder in bend, with NO ACTUAL movement further into the carriageway...you would be doing no more than a recommended manouvere performed by mounted police units!!
To make your horse appear visibly larger and seen more clearly is not in any way dangerous and can be used to in many situations to bring a potential "situation" in to check and prevent further harm!!!
Many of us have been trained to advance level in using similar techniques on the highway. BHS also provide this method depending on instructor!

God, do you know how sick you actually sound. You really have no idea

sorry, but you're just proving yourself to be more and more narrow minded...

who says all rape victims are females??

and he now works with sex offenders... are you saying it should be females working with male sex offenders??

perhaps if you spoke some sense and acted like you had half a braincell people might take your posts more seriously. As it is you obviously havent a clue what you're harping on about.

Some one else only reading the bits they want to read, I said a "female" victim !

[ QUOTE ]
Seems a sensible comment to me, what is sick about it ? surely a female officer would be preferable !

[/ QUOTE ]

if it was female victim yes... but hey, guess what, might be news to you but not all rape victims are female.

but she didnt say female... you just assumed that for your own self gratification.

therefore he could be working with male victims, and even if he was working with female victims, that isnt so strange... what if a female was raped by another female? what if she specifically asked for a male officer/s to deal with it?

it gets worse! omg a shetland! so they know about passports but not the difference between a shetland and a 17.2hh , images of them taking your horse back to the police station!

You assume all victims are female, never once has my OH had be replaced by a female officer. I am not even going to dignify the strange to "me" comment. Am also not going to bore other HHO's by going off the thread but am more than happy to carry on via PM's

My friend was riding her new horse a week ago last Sunday through a little Village where she stables her new horse (of then 2 weeks)
As she rode down the road a police car with his blues and twos going sped past her .... luckily her brilliant new horse did not react, but it could have been a disaster
crazy.gif

She has flatly refused to complain, as she has been to court on a different matter and lost a case that was hers to win
confused.gif
... so basically thinks they are all bad

Hi Boltonrider wondered how long it'd take for you to joni the thread!

Pedantic (and to some extent those of you who are fueling that debate) - do it in PMs, or this thread is in danger of becming another hijacked thread like JG.

Angharad, are you going to complain? hope you do x

Well obviously you particular ex job and in job people are wonderful, pity that there aren't more of you, keep up the good work, hopefully next time we have travellers or my van gets broken into or my van gets stolen or my car gets ringed or kids are setting fire to the fields or chucking stones at the cars off the bridge or the trail bikes are up and down the bridleway or the kid on the alleyway with a machete is causing trouble hopefully you will be there, because your colleages never seem to manage it, I think the last time I really needed the police to help some poor lady and her kiddie in a pushchair having some big problems with a group of kids and I ran round the corner to fetch them they were so busy harassing a bloke about 70 years old over his parking which was obviously far more important and who the hell was I and what did it have to do with me, guess what Iv'e seen tortoises move faster, by the time they shifted their fat backsides the kids had gone duh, but on a positive note some revenue was brought in for parking on a yellow line.

Off to bed now, as others have said it's hijacking this thread so PM me if you want or start a new one, as sooty always said, well Ronnie Corbett anyway with his hand up sooty, bye bye everybody, bye bye.

[ QUOTE ]

Were they right to ask for the passport? - I think they were - most producers have a space for 'other documents' and that is the box they should have ticked, no you don't need to carry it with you, but you should be able to produce it within a reasonable timeframe

[/ QUOTE ]

This is a joke, right? For what possible reason did they have a right to ask for her passport? Is it part of what passports are for? No? Is there any relevance to what she was doing, which was asking them to slow down? No. Was it a deliberate attempt at intimidation? Yes. Did it potentially screw up her day after they had effectively endangered her life? Yes

I do so hope this goes to the national press

QR,

Kibob & I once got pulled by the police because Kibob's horse poohed on the road!!

Yes, really!!

I am not trying to play it down but at the end of the day, no one was hurt and I expect everybody learnt something from it.

I can not believe some of the comments on this thread. I can't even be bothered to comment on them.

I hope all is sorted out soon.

Ahh, so that was the reason for stopping, I forgot how seriously the police took horse theft, must congratulate them, whenever "I" (please please note "I") have had "anything" stolen all I get is a sympathy letter, never a visit or soco, must be because I live so far out in the wilds, little noddy bikes cant pedal that far.

[ QUOTE ]
You have my full sympathy, never in 54 years on this planet have "I" met a bright copper yet, I'm sure they have to have an NVQ in being thick to get in the force, lets face it, any body with intelligence isn't going to go in the force to start with, as they have to work with their hands behind their backs with all the goverments Political correctness crap forced on them, so I am slightly sypathetic for them as well, you may notice that the asian community dont seem to go in police force, lawyers, doctors, solicters ect, yes, but not a copper, why is that do you think, anyway they sounded a right pair of pillocks.

[/ QUOTE ]

blimey mate..glad i didnt say that..

did note though that you weren't called "semi-iliterate"..

back to the OP....

WHAT has she ACTUALLY got to complain about?

they questioned her about road safety, asked her to show proof of documentation of her horse...so what..

did they verbally abuse her?
did they physically abuse her?
was she and her horse "harmed" by the actions of these officers?

NO.....so i ask again..WHAT has she ACTUALLY got to complain about.....

oh, they MIGHT have been speeding....

instead of thinking about complaining, going down the Compensation route, i'd be just having a laugh about it down the pub!!!!

If the OP could be persuaded to pose naked on said horse it might make the News of the World. Otherwise, it isn't actually much of a story, is it? Although there might be enough shock!horror!outrage! value to make the Daily Mail on a very slow news day, although even they aren't as rabidly anti-police as some people on here.
