Up in the clouds
Thanks for the update. Very relieved that you all survived the experience. All the best for the clean up!
I have to drive down (and back up!) the M5 to a work meeting in Exeter tomorrow, looks like it will be a fun drive
Hold on to your hats.
This is why zoom teams etc were invented, colleagues in Somerset have been told schools are closed so might be worth checking the meeting is definitely onI have to drive down (and back up!) the M5 to a work meeting in Exeter tomorrow, looks like it will be a fun drive

It is on, that team all live in the area and all say they will be there. It is a vital meeting so I can't miss it, and Teams isn't an option. I know a back route down to Exeter but suspect that will be more of a risk due to large trees, so the M5 is probably the best option. I will set off really early so I can go slowly. This is why zoom teams etc were invented, colleagues in Somerset have been told schools are closed so might be worth checking the meeting is definitely on
Be sensible and talk to your boss about rearranging or doing it in Zoom. No point in unnecessary risks. If you have somehow convinced yourself this is a normal storm, think again, this is another sign of the screwed up climate .I have to drive down (and back up!) the M5 to a work meeting in Exeter tomorrow, looks like it will be a fun drive
At the moment I'm not convinced the weather will be that bad (just usual heavy rain and wind for the time of year), apparently it's still calm down there at the moment, but I will see what it is like in the morning.
middle of Dartmoor and it is seriously starting to kick off. I think from what I have read that the wind etc gets really bad around 3 am onwards and I think it extends into tomorrow. Everyone shut in and top doors closed which is the first time for over a year and I am sleeping in my outdoor clothes tonight just in case.It is still very still here, has anyone in the SW/S had wind yet? We had one shower during the day but otherwise it was sunny and pleasant.
I'm in Cornwall, it was pretty windy earlier (but not excessively so), now just raining- no noticeably high winds yet. Where I am is a yellow weather warning for wind from 9pm, and Amber from 3am. It's yellow for rain now, it's not especially heavy at the moment, but the ground is saturated already.I don't have a good enough internet connection where I am staying to use Teams (at a friends house at the moment, took a day's leave so I could meet a friend's new puppy on the way*), and only an intermittent mobile signal. Everyone else is planning to go in tomorrow and all patient appointments are going ahead as planned. I will be sensible but at the moment I am planning to attend (with the knowledge that may change in the morning).

*In case anyone thinks I've been at work and on HHO all afternoon
I’m about as far South as possible and our weather forecast says this. Either everyone is panicking about nothing (local college is shut, Im not sure about schools), or the Met Office weather is wrong
