Sweet FA.....Thursday!!!

Morning Gang,

Got my Little dog in work with me today as I need to take him up to the yard later to kill some rats (hopefully!). He's lay down in front of the heater looking very cute
grin.gif
All hell breaks loose when the phone rings though as he starts howling

The rats at the yard are unbelievable, they are every where and they are so big
crazy.gif
Yesterday there was one in Millie's stable
shocked.gif
so I had to get my boss to muck her out for me
blush.gif
Not many things scare me but Rats is one things I can not stand, they completely freak me out

Boss/YO isn't great at sorting things out so I had to take poison up for him, it then took him 3 weeks to put it down. He said he'll get a terrier man in but that probably won't happen for weeks, if at all. Hence why Toby will be a frequent yard visitor for the foreseeable future

Congratulation Aunty AA

FS figured I'd ask you on here
blush.gif
Probably a really stupid question but where can I buy some bog-standard, old carpet ?! I have floor boards through my house with old rugs? Would that do the job?
tongue.gif

Try your local dump DL - seriously go and ask the guys there if anyone is throwing away old carpet and can you have it - either that or look on your local freecycle/put up an ad.

Its the sort of thing gardeners want this time of year for their allotments etc

Failing that your old rugs would do the job.

We have rats in the roof of our feed hut
crazy.gif
All I can do is listen to them scurrying around because they only re-appear once in a blue moon and the cat fortunatley does get them.

Although he has a habit of leaving them with just their body, minus the head and spinal cord in our tea room (BARF) and also placing them in impossible to reach places so all we can do is wait for nature to take its toll..BARF!

Oooo, I had one of those this morning, was just what I needed. Having porridge now, bit late for breakfast but better late than never!

Hope you feel better soon CalllyH.

Arrggg I hate them
mad.gif
The yard cat died suddenly last week so we haven't even got a cat to keep the numbers down
frown.gif

The children take great delight in telling me how many rats they have seen and where, I don't think they realise quite how much rats freak me out. As stupid as it sounds if things don't improve I can see myself bringing Charlie and Pixie home a lot earlier then planned

I can manage mice, but definitely not rats! We don't seem to have many *crosses fingers* but when I was in the feed room the other day I heard something rushing along the wall and it was definitely bigger than a mouse. We have quite a few wild cats though so I think they probably help.

I'd try the dump DL, or a carpet shop they might have off cuts!!
grin.gif

I hate rats too!! That's why I have three JRT's and three feral cats!!

We don't really see mice or rats, although I'm sure they're around!!!

Sorry I wasn't on last night but I went to Mary King's lecture - absolutely fantastic and such an inspiration!! I can't wait to get on Ted tonight and ride for the future, hehe.

She's such a fantastic woman, and I never realised she has represented us in 5 Olympic games!! It's so nice hearing from a top rider that hasn't come from a rich or horsey background - gives us all hope, hehe.

How's everyone doing??

xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

She really is!

She said she prefered having a small yard of horses, rather than a lot of horses so she gets to know them on a personal level as well. Fantastic horse woman!

How're you feeling slinky?

im feeling much better thanks. i even got up and fed horses etc in pjs and went back to bed. need to pop to vets today to pick up pain meds for toby and sent morse cliam forms away the joys. toby was a bit quite earlier but seems a bit better now. he seems to be vry b=varible and up and down althoughhe did walk under the stall guard in the foaling box and follow me whoops forget he can't have stall guard

he can be very good the totaly crap within a few hours but hopefully onward and upward. the vet did say tho that he might feel good while he is on the steriods and then go down hill when he comes of them we will just have to wait and see.

anyway i need to go and skip out then go to vets etc before i go to work later

Off to my other job now with dog in tow
grin.gif

Typically it has just started raining (been sunny all morning) so I am going to get wet whilst riding and mucking out
mad.gif

See you all later!

Afternoon Congrats Aunty AA but can I just tell you I am a Great Aunt so there
grin.gif

Great Lump caught his leadrope on his top door last night and ripped it half off hinges so had to get my beloved to come down and remove it completely. The Farrier was there and being a nice guy as well as good looking (oh God I hope he never reads this site but then he wouldnt have time would he?) took the extremely bent Hinges and straightened them for me.

Interestingly my 17hh of Brown lump leant out of his stable and made goo goo eyes at OH who is particularly not a horse person so I had to intercede and beg him to stroke the lads face so he wouldnt be offended.

Quick question Anyone suggest how long I leave my original dressing on my finger before I swap it. Its been kept very clean I have put a fresh bandage on top of Nurses original and then cover with cling-film and tape when I muck out then remove second bandage and clingfilm twice a day.

Its just I dont really want to look at it!!
