Morning everyone, well I have a cracking cough and feel like deaths end. I suppose I caught this easy because I was ill before.. I wish it would go away! So I'm off to college, even though I'd rather be in bed! Catch you all later

Morning all i have a cracking purple and red bruise on my knee which only hurts when i touch it i have no limp so don,t think it qualifies for me pulling a sickie. Who said shettie poo was not dangerous .

Not as cold this morning as it was yesterday but Belle has gone out in her hw as it's still b****y freezing!

Planning on riding tonight, keep the edge off her a bit but she's so spooky in the dark I'll have to see how I go. Someone took a bucket into the school yesterday and emptied most of the water so it's looking ok, providing it doesn't rain today!

. Life is sometimes a bit much. I shouldn't whinge as others have it far worse than me.

We're going to look at a yard today... Will let you know how it goes: it's one we put a bid on nearly two years ago, but the Coal Authority outbid us. It will be interesting to see how it's going

They have now chewed through our feed room door and judging by the amount of droppings that appeared overnight they are having a party in there

The only consolation is that we have poison down in there so hopefully they will start taking it, but I still feel very uneasy on the yard

Luckily we have floodlights in the school, it's the scary shadows outside the school that I'm worried about! She's very spooky and panicky whenI catch in the dark, not sure how she'll cope being ridden, especially as she can see outside the school and will most likely get a fright at most things!

Hello all,
Not much happening here, nothing to report except that I now seem to have and Irish Draught x Hippo x Polar Bear. It was freezing last night when I got to the farm. Arch isn't clipped yet as still out overnight (hoping for another two weeks if it's not too wet!) so is only in a lightweight to keep him clean and he was sweating buckets. That horse is not normal. He has also gone down a hole on his girth since moving to the winter field on Wednesday, he's the only horse I know who's putting on weight at this time of year!

Hope the respective knees, heads, ribs, coughs are better soon and you find what you are looking for at the new yard Mrs M. I'm sure it was mentioned last night but I was in work mega late so didn't have a chance to say something, but that was a lovely post about you that I read yesterday. You have obviously helped a lot of people with your words of wisdom. Wish I could offer you some about Dizz and her stabling woes but wisdom in not my strong point - although isn't there a saying that recognising that is the first step to achieving it or something like that? Hope you find a solution anyway.

Managed to drag Mum up to the yard this morning so I didn't have to leg it home before going into town.

Genie was happy as it meant she got a mint, and then she was turned out with her babies. The yearling adores her and is already a lot less panicky, and the 6 month old has attached to her and seems to be viewing her as Mum. Genie's doing a good job of keeping them in their places without being nasty, and it's helping them learn how to behave. How long until my horse is broody?

Today was the Charter Day of one of the schools I teach at, so I went to the Cathedral to sing in the service, then got a bun afterwards!

Having a break now, then teaching for 1 1/2 hours later on. Got a meeting tonight which should be ok as it involves a quiz and chips!

Fihunt- glad Genie is settling in, been meaning to ask you how she is bred? She looks very similar to my friend's horse who is by Ebbw Victor.
 
Such a shame, she's a fine example of a sec D. I wouldn't have been surprised if she was by Ebbw Victor or some of his sons, but I doubt she'd be unregistered if that was the case. She's gorgeous anyway.

Yeh I really wish she was registered but she's perfect in every other way! Brynmelys Cracker has been suggested to me before (who is by Ebbw Victor) as a possible sire... as she went through the sales we suspect the paperwork was lost, but of course she may just be a cob who look welsh!
 
Hi again everyone. I have just registered with a vet miles away from where I live, and their call-out fees are cheaper than one just round the corner! Go figure!

Anyway, think I'm gonna have a check-up for Belle leading into the winter, just to make sure everything's a-ok.

I'm at work but secretly trying to get an assignment finished on backing youngsters. I was doing ok until I got to the last 2 questions which are about the first 2 years of training after being backed, for dressage, endurance and showjumping horses and I can't find anything at all! Totally snookered. Booo!
