Having had an experience of helping a friend to get her horse back from an unsatisfactory loan, I keep coming back to this thread to see how the OP is doing with an upsetting and difficult situation.

I feel as if I have slipped down a rabbit hole.........................

This. It's one of the funniest thread diversions yet on HHO. User gets upset because another poster refers to them by part of their username. We'd have all been oblivious to that indignant poster's real name if she hadn't made such a fuss about it.

I've avoided commenting so far but have to disagree here. Not long ago JBM said that she has (genuinely in real life) been crying about some of the responses. And you're laughing. This isn't ok; it's unkind, whatever happened before. Please try to be as nice to people here as you would be if they were in front of you.

For the love of god pls let it go. No she didn’t apologise, yes it started as a funny diversion but someone is clearly very upset AND this is someone else’s thread, someone who is in their own right upset bc of some of the comments on here.

Your personal opinion does not negate how someone feels and it is not right to continue to trample on feelings when they have already expressed they have been hurt. Points been made (in both cases).

I love this forum but have to agree that we can be a bit much sometimes.

I agree with being kind, but if one over reacts to something and is rude, then the way to end the situation is to apologize and move on, not just expect everyone to drop it because you say that you are upset. We have all sometimes said or written things that we regret, but an apology is a little thing which makes a big difference.

Until it was commented on I would have had no idea that a real name had been used, it could just as easily be the name of a pet / a middle name / an assumed name. I am sorry if someone is upset, but the person who was called out for quite reasonably shortening a username could equally be upset.

Maybe the people that detailed this thread for so long should apologise to ThechestnutThing.?

Wouldn't that just prolong the silliness? Very glad it's back on track.

I do :) and I have decided that he will now be fully retired back to his previous owner who had offered him a retirement home in the middle of nowhere in massive green fields. She will hack him every now and then with her other ancient horse.

Really glad you have a plan and it sounds like a good option for your boy. Hope it all goes smoothly.

Indeed. This is the second time in the last few days a poster has become upset and left the forum because of people continuing to keep an argument going for the sake of it. Very sad.

This sounds like a very positive outcome. I wish you all the best in collecting him.

Hope your visit to see him hasn’t made you feel you have to retire him for health reasons? Sounds perfect for him and glad you’ve found him somewhere your happy with. ?

TBH, I think i would be getting myself in over my head with 3 horses, a full time demanding job, a partner who moans that I have horses etc etc. I need to make sure that all the boys get exactly what they need and I don't want to be rushing each ride and doing half hearted jobs. I'm already up at the yard at 6am...a 3rd would be 5.30am. Then in the evenings riding 3....so I have to do what is best for all of us.

I think you have done the best, the best thing is definitely not remaining where he is. ?

I’m glad that’s all it is. I would definitely not manage riding 3. I have 1 to ride and feel bad through the summer missing eating evening meals with OH so fully understand. Chuffed it’s worked out good for you

Sounds like a great plan. I was a little concerned at the suggestion that he would go back to jumping when he'd been semi retired and enjoying the hacking life, but since I didn't know the horse, his fitness or why he was semi retired I'd leave it. A home of hacking and grass sounds lovely and it sounds like it will work well for all concerned (other than the loaner, but that's her problem).
