Because I'm geeky and a little bit sad, I always wanted to be a Nazgul. If you covered up her two white socks on her back feet and the star on her forehead, she'd be a good Nazgul horse.

Well we could be geeky and a little bit sad ( your words) together:D:rolleyes:

I've always fancied doing a freestyle dressage test to Spitfire by the Prodigy. Not that I would dare take him anywhere to do even an intro walk trot test, as I imagine he'd do it at ordinary working gallop.

Do you have a black or dark bay horse? Then we could be two out of nine. Not bad.

I also fancy a dressage freestyle to Cape Breton, Irish, or Scottish dance tunes. Carl Hester got close -- he had about six bars of a Dougie McLean fiddle tune in his Olympic freestyle. But it wasn't nearly enough.

My plans for future horses include
Jousting/swordsmanship ... have sort of started this on foot already.
Dressing up as a victorian lady and riding sidesaddle (not that weird)
Horse boarding along the beach with a surf board.
Dressage to drum and bass or some sort of DJ set (a friend has already volunteered :p)
I have heard rumours that Spookypony rode to work she does some fun stuff :)

I really need a horse otherwise I willnot ave enough time for all my crazy dreams

I really want to paint the equine skeleton on oreo, its very tempting to use the excuse that it would help me to revise for my veterinary anatomy test :D. It would be extra fun to ride her around like that, particularly on a hack as i can just imagine peoples faces :p.

I've always wanted to just gallop through the countryside jumping everything in my way like they do in movies, but i know id never be brave enough to do that .

Not such a weird desire but i really want to learn sidesaddle and look like a proper lady for once :p and id love to try archery on horse back.

Also would love to try riding bareback and bridle-less but i fear my horses would not do what i want them to do/they'll tank off/ignore me and i know ill never look as elegant etc. as those that do it in shows

A friend did the Riding Cb fancy dress, or tried to, on her piebald cob. It was all fine as she dolled him up to look like a Friesian dairy cow until she asked him to walk. He took great exception to his huge udder & who can blame him. Didn't know dairy cows could be so lively :)

Oh my! Some of you are my dream people :D

Can I be a third nazgul - I will paint mine black to fit in :D When he's done greying out, I will switch to become gandalf and Fergs can be Shadowfax :D :D

I also have really, really wanted to re-enact the race to Rivendell through the trees - even on the archaic 70s animated film that was awesome :D

I'm going to play at some jousting and archery at the Centre of horseback combat if it ever becomes summery and not snowy too  :D Uber excited at the prospect!

Love this thread!
Remember when we had all that snow mid January? Well this accidentally happened...

I can honestly say I've never had so much fun and Tigs appeared to enjoy racing the dogs across the snow too! Made a change from the cart anyway!

Awesome. Truly awesome :D Been wanting to do this for years but have neither harness nor robust enough sledge...

I have a secret 'mission' desire when hacking too...like something happening where it involves having to find the nearest wall or hedge to jump as a getaway!

Mature. Really. I know.

'bout as mature as I am :D

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks up freestyle tests to different themes. I'd like to do one to James Bond, and John Parr's St Elmo's Fire is asking for it (one-time changes across the long diagonal to the chorus). Can't see it happening - I've never even done a walk trot test. Ho hum!

On the Bond theme, when we first bought the (last surviving) tanker used in filming the Miami Airport scene in Casino Royale, I had to fight the mad urge to drive it recklessly around showgrounds. Two years ago we took it to Rudgwick and it was 25yrs anniversary fancy dress, so I took my slinkiest dress and was a Bond Girl and played the theme top blast. A few old boys went a bit light headed, lol! I still drive it like I stole it on dual carriageways... :D

With the ponies I would love to gallop along the sandy byway with a foot on each back, but I don't trust either of the ******s enough!

I have a long list.:D

To dismount at canter and then remount at canter.

To go anywhere in fancy dress on him. No one will come with me!

To mount by vaulting over his bum. I have now got a mini trampoline at the yard to start with but it doesn't have enough bounce so might need a different one. He is very despooked and is now used to standing by the mini trampoline while I bounce.

Play horseball.

Try jousting with him.

Get a trick riding saddle and train him to let me do trick riding. Clearly there may be some accidents while we get good at this.

These are the things that I would like to do this summer. My YO just LOVES me! :D:D

The main aim is just to have a reasonably sane pony  he's my first youngster and I'm desperate to make sure he grows up knowing his job. This could well be a deranged idea!

Apart from that, I have a secret yearning to dress as a cowgirl/sheriff and enter us into a fancy dress comp, complete with dual pistols.

Be able to ride completely tackless without dying.

Dressage to music with all the songs I hear and match suitable gaits to :D

The one I really want to do.....have a waterpistol fight (and waterballoons as grenades of course!) in the summer on horseback. My friend has done this and it looks sooooo fun!

That's pretty cool... I've done most of the rest of your list at some point (though haven't been able to re-mount at canter since I was about 15 :( ) - I was a YO's nightmare too :D

JFTD - It was just a normal kids sledge! He is such a saint wrapped up in a tiny naughty pony body! I did fall off a lot, especially cornering at a gallop the sledge would come flying out sideways, all good fun anyway :)

Well I am 42 so am not sure how likely it is that I will achieve the vaulting on. But reckon we will have fun trying.:D

I did do some historical skill at arms training with my old boy and he loved it, have never tried with current beastie though, as had to bail out of an opportunity last year due to self harming horse

Caol ila will also have to paint horse black, or she can just be dressed up in a caparison.

So how many of us are already signed up for the "dash to Rivendell"????

I don't understand the title of this thread at all. All of the suggestions/ideas sound perfectly sane, normal, sensible and reasonable to me. :p

ETA - if I ever do Dressage to music with the grey, there will only be one choice for the music. It will be a Misfits medley as she's got plenty of attitude (her attitude cup brimmeth over). Do you think that she'd get extra points if she wore a leather jacket, had her head painted with a skill design and styled her forelock 'devil lock' style?

Most of them seem pretty reasonable to me too...

But I guess "darth vader riding a fictional pink pony" is a pretty peculiar act to follow :D

Darth Vader is a pretty hard dude - he can ride a pink pony if he wants to, I'm certainly not going to risk telling him otherwise (or anyone dressing up as said combo). ;)

Done the horse sledging thing. Great fun.

I want a Shetland pony team of 6 and go ploughing. But I don't fancy owning 6 I don't even fancy one tbh.

I wish you could have a dye your pony kit what ever colour you want, as in "I fancy a grey today" "I fancy a palamino

Chin up, weather's changing next week. Not long before the grass grows.:)

Loving some of these whacky pastimes some of you have, sledging looks brilliant.

I'd love to joust, my past farriers used to do it, and it was so much fun to watch.

We have played hockey on horseback using corn brooms and a gym ball. Horses loved it.

When I was a slightly braver teen my brother and I would go "dragon" hunting, which involved taking the bamboo canes from the vegetable gardens as our spears, and galloping around fields bareback, I think in headcollars, and we would also do pretend jousting and sword fighting, bareback in random fields. I used to paint my pony as a native american pony, circles round it's eyes, feathers in his mane etc. I also used to round up the young cows which would frequently break onto the bridleways, pony was a natural at it

My daughter wants a unicorn because she is (as she keeps telling me on a daily basis) a princess. According to her, a princess needs a unicorn. I could see myself sorting that out for her at some point. I would love to give skill-at-arms a go, I watch all day when we go to the Medieval Festival, and every year I tell the husband, "I'm so going to do that some day..." I'm not sure if it is the games or the dressing up part that appeals to me more, though! When I was a kid, I wanted to be a bareback rider in the circus. Part of me still thinks I could totally pull it off. ;)

It certainly beats my husband's interest in dressing as the Grim Reaper on horseback... unless we go rainbow pony, I think his idea is well and truly defeated by Darth Vader. ;)
