Vibes for little Jessie please

Unlikely to be a quick solution for you to acquire unfortunately, but Oralade (chicken flavour) is good in such situations. Alternatively, make your own. In very crude terms: water, honey and salt. Has the vet given you any anti-emetics?

Whatever she will eat/drink is GOOD! Doesn't matter what it is. Let her enjoy whatever (if anything) may take her fancy! There's plenty of fresh salmon in Ireland isn't there? :)

Fingers still crossed, regardless of cramp!

Thinking of you both.

Thank you @rabatsa I didn't realize that. We will give that a go.

@gunnergundog the vet gave her a long acting anti-emetic injection yesterday. They seem quite surprised she is still bringing food back up but tell me it should at least stop her actually feeling sick. Yes she is being offered anything and everything, I am amazed and somewhat alarmed at the high value treats she is turning down🙁

For some reason the vet has said no salmon or tuna which seems odd. We were both too overwhelmed at that point to ask why not. That's always been our sure fire go to for sick dogs and cats.🤷

If you can't get paracetamol down her, I would try syringing Calpol in. Irs good that she has eaten a bit though.
I agree regarding calpol . When my dog had pancreatitis he didn’t eat anything but had regular calpol . Obviously check with the vet if it’s ok to use it.

Another vote for calpol. Ruby had metaclopramide (maxolon) as a tiny tablet at home and injected at the vet. It help stomachs to empty more quickly so that they keep the food/liquids down. It also helps the bowel to move everything along.
Her symptoms were very very similar to Jessie so hoping things pick up soon for you xx

I think in higher amounts there is a worry about mercury levels in salmon and tuna, wouldn't have thought a small bit to get her eating and give meds would have been a cause for concern though 🤔

Tried all of those except the bone broth @Sandstone1 . My son is currently stewing all the bones from a chicken we cooked for her yesterday.

She has not eaten again this morning but has had a fairly good drink of water that she took herself from the water bowl, so that's a small but very necessary improvement.

Just read through all this :( So sorry Mrs J you must be besides yourself. I too have everything crossed that she picks up soon.

Just want to day re. the Calpol, It was suggested to me when i was supposed to be using normal paracetomol and was struggling to get it down the dog and I was going to do it but was then told not too because its now sugar free and contains a sweetner that isn't great for dogs so just double check that before using it.

edited to say a quick google tells me it contains sorbitol and is ok in small doses so ignore me!

Thank you @ poiuytrewq it is xylitol that is the dangerous one for them, I have been checking every single thing we have tried that is already ready made.

Thankfully my son got a paracetamol down her about 12 o'clock and by 2.30 she was up and hanging around as we cleared away the dinner. She would not touch the liquid from the stewed bones but she stood and watched as he stripped the whole remains of the roast chicken and hand fed it to her, she lapped up every bit! She has since had a nice long sleep still with erratic and fast breathing but nowhere near as bad as earlier today. And she has had a drink from the water bowl, not much but better than nothing.

We will offer her salmon again later as she took some on the first day of her illness so might be worth trying again. Son is going to get up at 12 tonight to give her another paracetamol, so hopefully we will get her safely through to the morning and off for all her tests and scans etc. that might tell us what is going on. Today she is unable to get onto their sofa the back end looks weak and she yelped slightly as we carefully lifted her on, so maybe that is connected?

Thank you. She is in the hospital and not well and is staying there until they find out what is wrong. They have her on drip and given her more steroids, antibiotics and paracetamol. They have done more bloods and white platelets are now low. Everything else looks OK. When they have her stable enough later they will be doing a full body scan. They will phone us first thing in the morning when they have full results and obviously sooner if things take a turn for the worse. It was horrible taking her on a two hour journey to the hospital with the drip in and her still drooling and panting, we felt like the worse owners ever putting her through that, her eyes are so sad. 😢

Thanks for your vibes all, really appreciate it.
