What's your puppy Dressage cob? Looks super cute.
Sounds like some super weekends all round. We jumped round an 85 course quite comfortably, we had a couple of fences as one part was against the clock and I was riding for time too much - made us messy. He'll never be a speed demon, but hes powerful and when I ride better careful so as we arent doing straight BS it doesnt matter

He's a Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen, 9 months old now. He's a lovely boy. Very soppy.

Camp was amazing. Fantastic weather, great trainers. And as it was a bunch of mates, we all had so much fun. The next one one in March is full already!!! Toby was a dude, Dolly was flying. I'm filthy, sunburnt, exhausted and very happy. Plus Toby has convinced me he belongs in my herd not anyone else's. He nipped me during a viewing - first and only time ever - and then behaved like a total saint and jumped really well. I think he is trying to say be wants to stay!

love this thread, the photos are fab,

rode my newly backed rescue round the field for the first time yesterday, a quietly proud day, he has come so far, very forward on the lunge, did not long rein today, he walked round very steady, god bless him

So many fabulous updates on here this week . Looks like it was the weekend to be out and about .
DC - your puppy is gorgeous ? those ears !
BM - hope you feel better soon

We had a fabulous weekend at a dressage camp . I can honestly say it was the best camp I’ve been too . Lovely quiet venue, weather was fab .. and the food was really good ( usually find camp food dire) plus the coach was awesome . I’ve never had a coach with so much enthusiasm. We all had so many whoo hoos from her . She was so encouraging and supportive. We learnt loads , i will definitely be having lessons with her again . At the end we did an elementary test, having only done a prelim before . Two mistakes, but still got 68% (- judge was very generous with the scores )
So we now need to get to a few competitions and see how we get on

and the turn back for the corner, Skylla just didn’t seem to register it. However, popped both on the second asking and felt mega over the rest of the course.

Nothing too earthshattering for us, weekend started on a low point with Darcy getting his head in a knot as we headed to the arena on Friday and pulling free and galloping round like a loony for 10 minutes  He did eventually allow himself to be caught and then did some decent work but I wouldn't have been that upset if he'd broken all his legs at that point tbh!

Kira has been hacking this weekend, great bonus of new yard is that there are multiple horses hacking daily and at least one can go plodding with us a few times a week :) really struggled to get ploddy company before so this will be great for her. i have no interest in making her go charging around at this point, she hates it and doesn't need to but regular trudging up the hill is perfect.

Back to work for Darcy yesterday and was much less eventful, picked up the half pass again and started explaining about walk piris to him ;) he's one of those that will just do what you ask him the first time, and then he starts to think about it too hard and gets in a muddle o_O

Anyway, here's Hera distracting me from poo picking, pratting about :p everything takes twice as long when you get stuck watching funny antics

Haha love her little fall over and get back up like um, nobody saw that ?, like a cat! Supercob gets a bit like that too MP, we're trying travers and on Saturday he was turning himself inside out and offering almost anything else - some piaffe half steps among other things. He makes me laugh cos hes really nailed shoulder in, can go shoulder in to renvers quite smoothly but travers has blown his mind - it's the same thing just facing the other way for goodness sake ?

HP, uninspiring is an improvement on DNF. I'd consider it a little win. It's something you can build on at least.

Sounds like a good weekend all round.
My flatwork lesson ended up being a Xc lesson as it was a nice day!
Mr H was a good boy - he suggested tanking off after a jump might be a good idea but allowed me to overrule him - we did half an hour / 40 minutes - he then started getting rather excited and I decided to call it a day!
I have a short video too which will try to upload

Where did you go, Asha?

S&G Equine . Just outside of Market Drayton . It’s a lovely quiet yard, with genuinely lovely people. Such a nice change from the hustle and bustle of somerford . All the horses where so relaxed . The trainer was Sam Morris , a bundle of positivity! Highly recommend her ?

We had a fantastic day out at Frickley yesterday in the Novice. Haven't been there since their very first BE event many years ago. What a lovely event! Everyone was so friendly and positive, stewards, volunteers and fellow competitors. Was incredibly well organised. We had two groups from other parts of North Wales parked directly behind us - what are the chances?!

Phoenix was awesome and did her best in all three phases. Dressage we got plenty of 7s again, if we can cut out the occasional lower scoring movements then our scores will improve more. They are just down to her trying too hard so a good problem to have. SJ was much improved from Cholmondeley Castle, much more rideable - although still quite excitable! - just pulled one (unlucky) pole early on. The XC course was brilliant - made great use of the terrain and asked plenty of questions. Nix was on it all the way round, wonderful feeling as she nailed fence after fence. Loved riding around the course. I managed to turn the wrong way at one point which inflated our time penalties - it was quite a windy route (but flowing) and I had gotten up early again...But prefer going wrong to forgetting how to ride to a fence so much happier than was last week

Should be able to add some pics /vids later

Hoping I can continue to be able to ride again for Reilee next week at Kelsall :)

If you want some more XC practice, (on their Facebook page) Kelsall have said that the BE course will be available for schooling for a few days after this weekend's event. I have used this facility at Kelsall several times, incl. both Nix & Reilee to judge whether they were ready to go BE. Like at Llany the other week, you could walk/trot around the course first on Skylla to figure out the route and approach etc. & gives her some familiarisation, use the practice fences to do a normal wam-up and use the Startbox to count down and go.

I think Mostyn can be a little hit and miss as a venue - not been for several years as not much there we find educational compared to other places. Even when just starting out - other than for a farm ride perhaps.

It was my birthday weekend so I’ve mostly eaten a lot of food!

Friday I took Rooni to use a local 20x60 to test out my music Nov and Ele I’ve put together. Really pleased with them and can’t wait to debut them. He was a very good boy.

Quick scoot round on Fig at home when I got back. He’s very happy doing not much atm. Nothing to prove. Loves his little sessions. Hoping to get him hacking again soon.

Saturday was my actual birthday and Rooni kindly gave me a complete meltdown lol. My friend and I thought we had signed up to hire a XC course. Nope. It was a fun ride! I stayed on despite his antics so that’s a bonus!

Sunday we went to Dallas B to hire the arena XC. Rooni was a monumental prat to get ready but he was epic to jump. Really good boy. Better than last time.

Yeah we already have a plan to go to Kelsall with Tuffy when it opens afterwards, I'd send them a message now but looking how many entries they have for the weekend I think they might be a 'little' busy ;), luckily work are pretty flexible normally with holidays!

I think it might have had a revamp since you were last there, as my YO said they have spent quite a bit on it in the last couple of years? I've found it a nice venue with a wide range of fences on the XC field, and they re-did take off's and put surface down up the track near the water which was good, as otherwise it would only be possible to trot up the hill really otherwise. This was most of the 80 course, though it does make for a slightly fiddle/ twisty course as you do have to go round the other jumps as they just use the schooling fields for the comps.

First was lovely and tiny :p.

Park Farm was a lovely ride, loads of really nice uphill canter stretches and some nice jumps, unfortunately something there set off Buzz's pollen allergy so he was headshaking quite a lot :( kicking myself for not even thinking about it but it hasn't flared up for months so I completely forgot. He still enjoyed himself though.

For some reason I have stopped being able to see some of the pics posted on here - all of the above fall into that category(!) I didn't find it v flowing around there whenever did fun rides as the fences seemed to be clustered with long stretches of nothing in between so not very like a XC at all. Only really went there to use as an occasional farm ride and a couple of Sport Endurance rides. Might take a horse along with a friend some time to have a nosy at how it is now and have an easy day out.

Oh maybe because they're not my pictures, they are on the flint and denbigh facebook page. The XC fields do have a lot of fences in them, the farm ride loops have much less and might be as you remember. I tend to go for the XC fields rather than the farm ride!

For me, I can't see pictures/videos hosted on FaceBook, because I've got a FaceBook container in my browser (Firefox) that isolates FB from my normal browsing.
Could be that for me too - I opted for a Firefox based FB protection a couple of wks ago. Am ok if there is a link to it but not if embedded - I think

You're probably right but I q enjoy doing a longer ride - with some jumps if they are ok as a bit of fun. Not got enough variety in terms of size and question type for me to use for XC schooling when can go to Kelsall (for newbies) & Somerford (when heading towards Novice & beyond)

Yep, it also affects photos on Instagram, seeing as that's owned by FB. If it's a photo I particularly want to see (foal photos!) I open the page in a different browser.
