3rd fun ride for Deza this weekend, (weather permitting, the forecast is foul and I'm a fair weather rider) she's been ace on the first 2 so I expect the same, and plan to pop a few of the tiny things now she's learnt to jump and clearly likes it.

Joe had a saddle and bridle on today without any issues, and I might do the same again. It's probably the first time he's ever had a saddle on, but he was girthed to break for driving, of course.

Ludo more work on consistent outline but it's going really well now I've sorted his vitamin E problem. He's found a "gear change" into medium trot, it's great fun to ride it ?

We can join in again! Out n about for a lesson on Saturday, probably low level jumping unless my new dr saddle arrives in time (unlikely). We did a jumping clinic yesterday at a new (for him) venue. He has given me a few no brakes, no steering moments from getting his tongue over the bit, so on Tues I tried a bomber happy tongue and on Wed also found a flash that would do up enough to be effective - he has a petite little head. So at the clinic we went to have a canter, he went to disappear off & I said, excuse me, you can't do that any more (quite politely I thought), but he was so surprised that the front end stopped & the back end went up in the air & I got ejected. Got back on, & he was super well behaved & brave for the rest of the clinic & jumped a load of scary fillers inc palisade, water tray, wavy planks etc. At least that's the first fall over with - I don't like having a new horse that I haven't fallen off!

Then on Sunday we might venture out on our 2nd ever hack with trainer walking with me. I am not brave enough to go alone, husband is a liability if he walks with me as he has NO horse sense & my usual hacking companion's horse has a cough.

Hope yours recovers soon, Wheels. How frustrating.

Nothing for me....was booked in for some SJ but Buzz is lame :( no idea as to why yet. Walked in fine, got on him and was warming up fine then as soon as we went into trot something wasn't right. Really hoping it's not laminitis, considering they've just gone out to the summer fields however he was on the slimmer side before going down (exactly why I keep him thinner!) but could feel a very slight pulse in one leg. Kept him in one of our large sand pens last night and will be going down in a min to check up on him.
Yard owner thinks he may have tweaked himself in the field (again as they've just moved to the big exciting field and the ground is still hard so may have been running about a lot!) so i'm hoping it's this! It was this time 4 years ago that he ruptured a tendon doing this though so fingers crossed it's not that bad!
Poor Buzz :(

Nothing for us this weekend, I am in a grump. Bean got her leg stuck in her haynet yesterday morning and she is now sporting an elephant leg; very hot, swollen and sore to touch. A great start on getting ready for AF's next weekend. We were due a saddle fit tomorrow which has had to be cancelled so I'm feeling a bit glum. I've cold hosed, bandaged and chucked some bute down her neck but I need to get some more from the vets as I've just used last sachet. Hopefully it will come right over the next couple of days.

The weather looks a bit grim here but I'm going to be British stiff upper lip with it and attempt to socialise in my garden this weekend seeing as riding is off the cards.

Northern, go for the Ele! I was terrified of it before I started riding the tests, and honestly I think riders at Novice put Elementary on a pedestal. If you are riding the movements already then you won't have a problem. Enjoy it!

Wheels, that's really pants, hoping for a speedy recovery.

We have been up north! In Cheshire. Had a lovely time and managed to stay dry and enjoy a hot tub every eve despite the weather. I’ve mostly been riding Bear and he’s been such a good boy but the real star is Boggle who at somerford was the best I’ve ever seen him and immensely happy to be jumping some XC fences. He’s always brilliant but he just seems to be even better at the moment. Bear is just pootling meaning Bog and his mate had to hang back etc to jump. It was good training for him as he wasn’t overly impressed with this to begin with ?

Very pleased with both my boys who are a pleasure to take anywhere. Brilliant if a little naughty pair.

Ha! BBC weather, which I find the most reliable for this area, is showing a 97% chance of heavy rain for the time we would be out. I think she'll be tucked up in that barn, somehow.

Meant to be going around Somerford farm ride tomorrow afternoon with 4yo. May be a rather soggy one!! He is also doing another intro dressage test on Sunday, but just a competition at our own yard, so we aren't going anywhere for that. Older horse having a chilled weekend of hacking and schooling as he worked hard last weekend!

XC clinic was fab - focussing on control of pace. I could feel her growing in confidence throughout the session, and pulled out a few of my dodgy habits to start to sort them. Organiser and instructor are both great, and one of the other riders was an old friend who I had lost touch with on her very super cob. All in all a pretty ace morning.

We’ve had two very successful outings so far this week.

Raz was immaculately behaved in his lesson on Tuesday and again today, so he’d obviously been needing his hocks medicated, poor boy… He’s feeling amazing at the moment so looking forwards to getting back up to working on his changes once he’s a bit fitter.

Jack and fleur were both good today as well. No photos as no spare hands, although I did manage to get one of the lorry before we left ?

Also Managed to squeeze in a quick run through of tomorrow’s test to make sure I definitely know it. Suspect we’ll end up jogging in the medium walk as he thinks me taking up the reins means it’s jumping time ? so we’ll see what happens ?
Still got the small lorry to pack and tack to clean but I might just get up early and do it tomorrow ? ?

good luck to all out competing

Buzz still lame :( very obvious in trot, definitely a hind leg. I can't see/feel any heat or swelling and he's not holding a leg up or weight shifting on them. No pulses. No idea! Will be leaving him in and calling the vet. Gutted for him :(

Kira's weekend is off to an appalling start, if you ask her...
She was deeply unhappy about her choice of hacking buddy today. He spooked at his own fart, fell in a ditch and did NOT keep up his end of the Monster-Detection agreement  On the way home he leapt in the air for no reason so she did the same  Remind me to hoik up my stirrups and grab a neckstrap next time...

Still on a high from my lesson yesterday. I still can't quite believe Shamble's doing as well as he is, and every schooling session is special. He's getting much more consistent as is able to work up into a contact without having to do as much suppling work first (we still do it but it's so much easier) did some work on strengthening the canter and ran through the lateral work. The half passes are spot on now, and nice and easy.
Next thing I know instructor is shouting movements at me - shoulder in, 10m circle, Travers, to half pass, medium trot etc. Walk pirouettes which we have never attempted. Down the centre line and halt. Only went and rode straight through most of M75 (with a few other bits thrown in)
Just before he broke I started dreaming of doing a medium so am over the moon to find he is still capable and the dream is still alive. Just need to work out the pirouettes. I can't believe how easy he finds it, especially considering he can only be schooled once a week maximum, so we don't get to 'practice' much. Love him to bits.
Coblet will have a fairly easy weekend with a couple of hacks.
And horsebox is going in to have work done, so no parties for a couple of weeks.

Good luck to those out and about, and hope the sick notes recover quickly.

Supposed to be out to dressage tomorrow, not sure if I will bother now - will decide in the morning. We lost one of our trio this morning to colic, so I’ll see how we are feeling tomorrow. Part of me wants to and the other part just wants to hide under a duvet for the rest of the weekend!

Sweet fat nothing going on here for us :( My older chap will hack out tomorrow if the weather is conducive but no lesson for Alw and I this weekend. We have been looking at unaffiliated test opportunities but have also been fiddling with bits and nosebands. Currently we both really seem to like a simple drop with a loose ring lozenge but need to test that out a bit more. It's just training 'spannering' for us at the moment!! I am pretty keen to get out xc training but not happening this weekend.
