Loving the transport mishaps! Have had a ramp come down twice luckily nothing damaged the first time and only a tree the second time! Must say the second time was due to a dodgy ramp as I did learn my lesson about checking after the first time!
I'm off to my first endurance of the year. It was supposed to be with Maisy but she wasn't quite right so I'm taking Winnie and doing a shorter class. Maisy will be back to normal soon enough and there is a long season ahead. I've also been told my little mare would pass a trot up which considering she has been cantering for over 6 weeks bodes very well for doing a bit more which is the best news I could have.
Good luck this weekend everyone I'm just hoping to pass the vet both ends of the ride and have her not try and kill them.

Not yet, Fiona... only told the girls that help on the yard that I’m buying him so will post on there tomorrow once he’s on the lorry 🙂

23 km tomorrow at Cannock Chase. Escorting a PC kid for her novice endurance championship qualifications. Walk in the Park for Reggie, think he's still a bit bemused after only 25km at the New Forest last week 😂
Got him out doing 40km at 10 kmph yesterday so not all bad!

Yup, don’t think he looks like an Oreo either but it’s in his showname 🤷‍♀️

Definitely think Rio is the way to go 🙂

Looks like a nice type!
I've just been lamed out of my ride. Reggie lost his shoe Thursday and had it reattached yesterday. Clearly sore on it though. Found someone else for the PC kid to ride with at least!

Picked Rio up while we were at SNEC with Beau.

Had a rubbish time in the newcomers - beau jumped like a beast in the warmup and then promptly decked me at the first fence.

Then I got a text telling me that Blue had slipped and grazed his knees after pratting about going out 🤦‍♀️

Oh no! But at least you have a lovely new horse 😬

Went for a long hack, 8.6 miles total, when we left it was strong wind and sideways rain!! But it did clear up to be sunny but pretty windy, horses were excellent though. No spookingat anything even though mine can be a big wuss sometimes! Also managed to lose one of my fluorescent boots, didn't notice until we were back ☹

Not looking forward to being out in the wind tomorrow too!

Had a lesson in horrible weather yesterday but pony was excellent- I’m so pleased with how he is feeling at the moment. I’ve worked very hard on his suppleness and contact and it seems to be paying off. Today I’m off to a presentation for our local winter dressage series which we have won a prize in- 3 wins out of 3 novices we took part in with an average score of 70%. I am so pleased because I really feel he deserves this recognition. Small fuzzy ponies don’t always get their dues in dressage, and he’s such a star that it feels really good to have someone else agree with me!!

So the good news..we came first in our section! Yay! Bad news...we had 8 faults...a pole and a stop that was totally my fault, just stopped riding and I don't know why, I'm really annoyed with myself as he was absolutely flying round and I could feel him backing off but just did nothing. So angry at myself, thought I was over this! On the plus side I didn't feel too nervous, especially with him being so forward to start.
Oh well, we all make mistakes. Might post the video later if you all want a laugh at my terrible riding!

Chilli and I had a win this morning!! Our second affiliated show and first MyQuest. 66.57% which I'm really pleased with as there are a couple of dodgy bits in this test. Namely, our walk section and my forgetting where I needed to pick trot back up and sort of just winging it.

Well, show jumping season ended on a sour note. There was a horrible double in the 80, and we stormed over it, so I promptly relaxed and forgot to ride the next fence. 4 faults and that cost is any chance of a league placing.

Clear in the 90, then rode like an idiot in the jump off for 8 faults including the last which was a very disappointing end to his last competitive outing! He's gone into happy retirement at the school as a flat horse only.

Now got a long, miserable and horseless spring / summer to look forward to. I asked a couple of local shows about stewarding but it seems like my lack of experience is an issue, ditto for dressage writing! They don't make things easy to get involved with...

Reasonably busy week here.
Giant horse went to combined training this week and won well with 76% and a clear round. Did a gallop set and finally found 5th gear and bogged off with his jockey 😆. Gymnastic jumped Friday, day off yesterday and a windy hack today. He is now really ready for an event and is on the bloody wait list next weekend, even with a ballot sticker 😩

3yo now back home after 8 weeks boarding school. Over the moon with how he has behaved, solid W/T/C both in school and in open field and hacking out of the yard alone. Plus lunge jumping over all sorts of scarey stuff. So I’ve played a bit with him in hand this weekend, practiced trailer loading etc and booked him in for a little in hand show. Fields should be open soon and he can then be lobbed back out.

What a little dude!

Well done all. Chippers that looked a really nice round.

We had FUN this weekend. Sj lesson yesterday and xc schooling today. Bit full on but all went well. F loaded and travelled well and seemed way more chilled out. So was I. Go figure hey 😉. Amazingly wasn’t nervous at all. Maybe I should take a break more often!

Chuffed that both instructors commented that my lower legs were much steadier (been practising my 2 point over the winter)

Sj more good bits than bad and the bad weren’t as bad and I recovered qucker, so lots of positive take aways from that. Teeny bit sticky at the xc but we had some awesome gallopy bits and am pleased we’ve got the first xc outing done. Gotta practice ditches cos he didn’t like this one but ins got him over it and then took him off to jump some bigger stuff, ended up popping a novice fence and making it look effortless. Eek.

Hope folks didn’t get blown away this weekend!

We went to a training weekend. 5 hours away! Rosie travelled brilliant and was really chilled out on the flat in the first lesson in a very blustery indoor school with a viewing gallery above her head! Bit looking but to be expected of a green 5 rising 6 year old. Second lesson in the afternoon and we did a really good jumping exercise and lost our brakes somewhat (although she wasn’t tanking just being a bit rude in downward transitions) but she jumped her little heart out again.

Today, she was tired. It’s a lot for a baby horse and we had a lesson over a course and whilst she was fine on the one stride double she threw her toys out the pram over the 2 stride and kept running out at the second fence. I was disappointed that the instructor didn’t lower the fences to build her confidence so it became a bit of a battle but got their in the end. I then got told that my mare has some “serious discipline issues that need ironing out on the flat” which was a bit disheartening because what I saw was a young horse who was very tired and had tried her heart out the day before and had done what any young horse would do and tried to take the easy option. Yes it was rude but it was understandable. It’s not like she swans around doing what she likes at home.

So a mixed weekend. I was over the moon yesterday but a bit disheartened today

Snowfilly - you may have explained this elsewhere, but why can't you ride at your riding school over the summer? As a separate issue, you don't need to have experience to dressage scribe, just have neat handwriting and be able to spell rhythm.....

Abi90 - that seems unfair, did you ask for the double to be lowered. Youngsters can lose confidence very easily if they are tired. My Connie was shellshocked at the 2nd day of a two day show last summer.

Well done chippers I thought your round was lovely except for the stop... Lovely canter..

As i said earlier, I dig my heels in over going to the 2 phase competition as I didn't think our canter was up to it and it was on grass, so that was £30 wasted.

However I decided that we would not stay at home and huff, so I washed tail and socks and headed off to some local WH.

We entered the first class so the course was small but exceedingly spooky with a huge variety of fillers and water trays...

The warm up was also very small so it was hard to get a reasonable size practice jump. However he went in and jumped a super clear..

We even did a reasonable show and got a lovely rosette for 6th place.

Very pleased with my pony, and proof that he was just overawed by jumping indoors last week.

Today I had considered going XC schooling or to the forest, but after an hour of sleet and hail this morning we decided to ride at home instead 🤣🤣

This week we have RC dressage training on Monday, PC rally on Tuesday, Wh training show and a lesson for me on Wednesday, and WH show on Saturday 😊😊
